Dave Grohl’s still winning then. Sadly he won’t be doing any touring for the foreseeable future, so maybe is sat at home watching the sport…

Options and number of selections

Wales - 20
Scotland - 12
England - 11
Any Other Country - 10
The winners from the first 4 weeks are Peter Wright, Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen leaving England as the only nation without a weekly winner

The latest standings after 4 of 16 weeks are

E11Week4.PNG
The most recent 3 weekly winners are

Michael van Gerwen at Brighton, Gary Anderson at Nottingham and Joe Cullen (England's first win) at Rotterdam.

I didn't see the Rotterdam matches tonight but it looked particularly close with all 4 QFs and the final all going to the final leg
There have been another six weeks since Rotterdam and Jonny Clayton has won 3 of the 6 with James Wade picking up 2 and Michael van Gerwen the other one. There are three more weeks left to determine who advances to the play off night.

Latest standings are

E11Week13.PNG
A big win for Joe Cullen in London last week dragged him into contention for the play offs.

Wales, Any Other Country and England have already qualified and the final spot will be decided tonight with Scotland in danger of being eliminated in the key match between Wright and Cullen; they played last Thursday and Cullen won 6-1

Standings before tonight's matches are

Options and number of selections

Manchester United - 27
Tottenham - 14
Arsenal - 6
Chelsea - 5*
West Ham - 1**

* would be worth an additional 1 bonus point
** would be worth an additional 2 bonus points
The 5 selected teams are currently in 3rd to 7th places with current standings being

3rd Chelsea 50 points (25 games)
4th Manchester United 47 (27)
5th West Ham 45 (27)
6th Arsenal 45 (24)
7th Tottenham 42 (25)

Can Arsenal make the most of their games in hand?
It appears that they can as Arsenal move into 4th with their only loss against Liverpool

Tottenham also appear to now be in better form

Current standings are

3rd Chelsea 59 points (28 games)
4th Arsenal 54 (28)
5th Tottenham 51 (29)
6th Manchester United 50 (29)
7th West Ham 48 (30)
A good win for Tottenham coupled with Arsenal losing at Crystal Palace moves Tottenham into contention for 4th spot.

3rd Chelsea 59 points (29 games)
4th Tottenham 54 (30)
5th Arsenal 54 (29)
6th West Ham 51 (31)
7th Manchester United 51 (30)
Big away wins for Chelsea and Tottenham coupled with losses for Arsenal, West Ham and Man Utd. look to have handed the advantage in the race for 4th place from Arsenal to Tottenham.

Standings are

3rd Chelsea 62 points (8 games left)
4th Tottenham 57 (7)
5th Arsenal 54 (8)
6th West Ham 51 (6)
7th Manchester United 51 (7)
And now Tottenham are struggling whilst Arsenal are back in the frame with a 3-1 victory over Man Utd.

Standings are

3rd Chelsea 65 points (6 games to go)
4th Arsenal 60 (5)
5th Tottenham 58 (5)
6th Manchester United 54 (4)
7th West Ham 52 (4)

Tottenham host Arsenal on 12th May which looks to be the key fixture
Arsenal's win over West Ham officially eliminates West Ham from this category.

A mini slump from Chelsea has dragged them back into contention whilst Man Utd remain just about mathematically in with a chance of 4th place

Standings are

3rd Chelsea 66 points (4 games to go)
4th Arsenal 63 (4)
5th Tottenham 61 (4)
6th Manchester United 58 (2)
7th West Ham 52 (3)
Manchester United are in the middle of a dreadful run (sorry to bring it up, Jon W) and a 4-0 defeat at Brighton has officially eliminated them from this category.

4th place could easily go one of three ways with Chelsea in poor form and the North London derby to come later this week

Latest positions are

3rd Chelsea 67 points (3 games left to play); Leeds (a), Leicester (h), Watford (h)
4th Arsenal 66 points (3); Tottenham (a), Newcastle (a), Everton (h)
5th Tottenham 62 points (3); Arsenal (h), Burnley (h), Norwich (a)
6th Manchester United 58 (1)
7th West Ham 55 (2)
Tottenham won the North London derby 3-0 and then Arsenal slumped to defeat against Newcastle handing the advantage for 4th place to Tottenham.

With a final day fixture against the hapless Norwich, Tottenham were unlikely to mess it up and so it proved as they raced to a 5-0 victory and 4th place.

3rd Chelsea 74
4th Tottenham 71
5th Arsenal 69
6th Manchester United 58
7th West Ham 56

There were 14 selections for Tottenham (including leader Dave Gr) which earns them a further 2 points

Fulham are 11 points clear at the top and look like they won't need the playoffs whilst West Brom have been on a poor run which has seen them drop to 13th although only 6 points off the play off berths

Latest standings are

E13P32.PNG

Sheffield United are currently favourites to win the play offs but this is a notoriously difficult market to call
Four more sets of fixtures further on and Fulham remain on course for automatic promotion whilst Bournemouth have improved their own chances of automatic promotion.

Luton have moved into strong contention for a play off berth

West Brom are still the lowest placed selection but still just 7 points off the play off positions
Fulham look on course for an immediate return to the Premier League - just two more wins will eliminate them for this category.

Nottingham Forest have moved into contention whilst QPR are going in the opposite direction.

Sheffield United remain favourites

E13P40.PNG
Moving into the last week of the regular season and it's still all up for grabs.

Huge match tomorrow as 2nd place Bournemouth entertain the form team Nottingham Forest; one of these teams will have to settle for a play off spot

Huddersfield are guaranteed their play off berth whilst Luton and Sheffield United are in the remaining positions.

Can Middlesbrough or Millwall force their way into the play-off picture?

E13P44.PNG

Key fixtures are

Bournemouth vs Millwall
Huddersfield vs Bristol City
Hull vs Nottingham Forest
Luton vs Reading
Preston vs Middlesbrough
Sheffield Utd vs Fulham
A late goal saw Bournemouth beat Nottingham Forest and confirm their automatic promotion.

Losses for both Middlesbrough and Millwall meant neither team was able to put any pressure on the teams above them so the play off berths are confirmed as Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Luton.

Luton, Huddersfield, Sheffield United have all been selected by just one entrant whilst Forest have four selections (although it should be noted that @forestfan is not one of them) so there will definitely be bonus points in this category.

The first legs are

Luton vs Huddersfield
Sheffield United vs Nottingham Forest
As expected, the two semi finals were extremely tight with Huddersfield squeezing through 2-1 against Luton courtesy of a late goal whilst Forest looked to have the upper hand winning the away leg against Sheffield United. Crucially, the injury time consolation for Sheffield gave them hope for the second leg which they were able to win to level the tie. With no goals in extra time, the resulting penalty shoot out was won 3-2 by Nottingham Forest.

Huddersfield will meet Nottingham Forest on Sunday for the right to return to the Premier League.

Often billed as the most valuable game in football, I haven't yet seen a value put on the 2022 edition

with the ties taking place in early April
The two legged round of 16 ties resulted in two English teams being eliminated.

Harlequins fell one point short of overturning a 14 point deficit from the first leg whilst Exeter lost a low scoring tie against Munster

The quarter finals revert to a single tie format and the draw is

Munster vs Toulouse
La Rochelle vs Montpellier
Leicester vs Leinster
Racing 92 vs Sale
The French teams dominated the quarter finals

Munster 24-24 Toulouse - Toulouse won the penalty shoot out 4-2
La Rochelle 31-19 Montpellier
Leicester 14-23 Leinster
Racing 92 41-22 Sale

The draw for the semi final is

Leinster vs Toulouse
Racing 92 vs La Rochelle
Leinster ran away with their semi final recording a 40-17 victory reaching their 6th final and maintaining interest in the tournament from a non-French point of view

The second semi final was a lot closer with Racing 92 moving into an early lead 10-0 before La Rochelle came back into the match sealing a 20-13 victory with a try in the dying moments.

La Rochelle will enjoy "home advantage" against Leinster with the final taking place in Marseille

Number of different winners remains 2 after 5 of 23 races
The Russian GP will not be replaced this year so this year is a 22 race season

Verstappen made it 3 wins in a row in Barcelona leaving us stuck on 2 winners after 6 of 22 races

Leinster established a 15-7 first half advantage as Jonny Sexton kicked 5 penalties.

La Rochelle kept themselves within one score with a try midway through the second half and then scored the decisive and winning try in the 79th minute to claim a 24-21 victory and their first European crown.

There was just the one selection for La Rochelle so congratulations and 4 points go to Steve H - his first points of this year's competition

This leaves The Widds as the last remaining pointless entry

Options and number of selections

3 - 2*
4 - 7
5 - 25
6 -16
7 - 3*

* would be worth an additional 1 bonus point
Charles Leclerc is looking good with 2 wins from the first 3 races with Max Verstappen claiming the other race

Number of different winners is currently 2 after 3 of 23 races
Max Verstappen has won both of the recent GPs; Emilia Romagna (didn't this used to be called the San Marino GP?) and Miami.

Number of different winners remains 2 after 5 of 23 races
The Russian GP will not be replaced this year so this year is a 22 race season

Verstappen made it 3 wins in a row in Barcelona leaving us stuck on 2 winners after 6 of 22 races
Sergio Perez won the Monaco GP raising the number of winners to 3 after 7 of 22 races
Verstappen has won the two most recent GPs in Azerbaijan and Canada so the number of winners remains on 3 after 9 of 22 races

E11Week15.PNG
In the crucial match Joe Cullen beat Peter Wright 6-4 which eliminates Scotland from the category

Final league standings are

The semi final match ups are

Wales (Jonny Clayton) vs England (Joe Cullen)
Other (Michael van Gerwen) vs England (James Wade)

and will be played on 13th June
Both semi finals were one-sided with Joe Cullen beating Jonny Clayton 10-4 and Michael van Gerwen triumphing by the same score over Jame Wade.

This eliminated Wales from the categry leaving Other vs England in the final.

Unlike the semi-finals the final was hotly contested and went to a deciding 21st leg which MvG won.

Unlucky for England selections as Joe Cullen had a dart to win the match at one point.

The 10 selections for Any Other Country pick up another 2 points courtesy of Michael van Gerwen

Dettori opened his account on day 4 while another double from Moore saw him open up a 2 winner advantage over Buick.

Buick pulled one back early on day 5 but a further Moore double clinched the category.

Final winners total were

Ryan Moore 7
William Buick 5
Frankie Dettori 1

There were 23 selections for Ryan Moore worth a further 2 points each

The "new England" look quite good 2 matches into their red ball reset.

Injuries amongst the bowlers are rife at the minute so from the selected players above, only the stalwarts of Broad and Anderson have played any Test cricket this summer.

After 2 of 7 matches the wickets totals are

Anderson - 11
Broad - 9

Potts is best of the unselected players on 10

Due to the conflict in Ukraine, this category is not expected to be fully resolved until June.

A Gareth Bale double put Wales through to the path A final where they will host either Scotland or Ukraine.

Poland were awarded their tie as Russia were removed from the competition. Sweden sneaked past Czech Republic in extra time and will meet Poland in the path B final.

The shock of the night came in Palermo where North Macedonia scored an injury time winner to stun Italy (who miss their second consecutive World Cup). Portugal survived a scare as Turkey missed a late penalty to level their tie. Portugal now host North Macedonia in the path C final.
Success for the "Po" teams!

Portugal beat North Macedonia 2-0 and Poland beat Sweden by the same scoreline to secure their berths at Qatar 2022.

The 6 Portugal selections earn 2 points each whilst the 2 Poland selections both earn 3 points

The expectation is that the category will be finalised in June
Ukraine beat Scotland 3-1 in the delayed semi-final and faced Wales for the final UEFA berth at the World Cup.

On a rainy night in Cardiff a Yarmolenko own goal was enough to put Wales through to their first World Cup since 1958.

There were 7 selections for Wales earning 2 points each including long time leader Dave Gr (not ohl).

Back in January, this category kicked off with a couple of very popular winners in Melbourne.

Ash Barty claimed the women's title and Rafa Nadal came from 2 sets down to win his record breaking 21st Grand Slam title
The French Open titles were both claimed by pre tournament favourites Iga Swiatek and the invincible Rafa Nadal.

This leaves us on 3 different winners with 2 more Grand Slam events to come

Nadal probably won’t win Wimbledon, though there is an absence of obvious alternatives should Djokovic slip up. Swiatek relatively untested on grass but on general form will take some stopping.

US Open tends to be the most unpredictable one anyway…

Anderson missed the final Test against New Zealand due to injury.

3 wickets for Stuart Broad see him leapfrog Anderson as the leading wicket taker in this category.

However, Matthew Potts took another 4 wickets and Jack Leach claimed 10 wickets in a MotM performance.

After 3 of matches the wickets totals are

(Potts) - 14
(Leach) - 13
Broad - 12
Anderson - 11

No one else has more than 3 wickets

Unsurprisingly, top ranked and defending champion Ash Barty was the most popular pick in this category.

More surprisingly, at the tender age of 25, she announced her retirement with immediate effect this week

Mind you she has stepped away from professional tennis before so a tiny glimmer of hope remains for the 34 Barty picks
Naomi Osaka withdrew through injury whilst Aryna Sabalenka was banned from entering leaving the category with 5 options.

3 of the players; Kvitova, Halep and Goff have all been drawn in the same quarter
