GW26 Wildcard

Post by Hotpot »

Anyone else on this?

I'm approx 80-100pts behind were I need to be in my cash mini leagues so I think its time to gamble.

I'm going to wildcard into 3 x LIV and 3 x ARS and FH27 to avoid their blanks. I'm thinking avoid Salah  and TC Trent (Robertson and Jota other two for 26).

I'm assuming 80-90% of players above me in mini leagues will TC Salah if they still have the chip. If Salah stays quiet in 26 I have the potential to make up a lot of ground. If Salah fires, oh well, at least I took a swing!

Current draft, 0.1m in the bank -

Ramsdale Dubravka
Trent Robertson Cancelo Laporte Tierney
Jota Saka Foden Bowen Coutinho
Kane Broja Saint-Maximan

After GW27, leaves a decent amount of players with extra fixtures to be arranged. There is a possibility of transferring out one LIV/ARS player in GW27 and fielding 10 players so could avoid FH if everything else looks OK?

Kane can be downgraded for a quick way back to Salah for 4pts if things go really well in 26/27

I have a few days to consider my final squad, but probably need to press the button later today to avoid the inevitable price swings :D

If you wildcard this week you won't be Triple Captaining anyone.

I just think we all have to have Mo, for the rest of the season, a one week gamble to go without him in times of team rotation might only be short term fulfilment, or total disaster, and too big of a gamble. :?:

I'm fully recovered now, I did need 48 hours though!

Thinking about it, I might have come up with the wildcard plan when hungover so that can be my excuse! I've pressed the button now so there's no going back. :D

Barring any late injury news, I think I'm settled on this now. The Jota injury has changed a few things -

Ramsdale Dubravka
Trent (c) Robertson Cancelo Laporte Tierney
Mane Saka Son Bowen Ramsey
Weghorst Broja Saint-Maximan
1.8m in the bank, not sure who I'll bench yet :? .

I don't plan on Free-hitting next week now, I'll probably just go Mane  KDB/Bruno and field 10 players. Depending how it goes, I'll have the option to bring Salah in for GW28.

I have the cash for Salah now, but I guess if I'm not TCing him there isn't much point in having him.

Thats how you become great, man. Hang your balls out there!

After an initial review, I had one eye on potential extra games when I put the squad together and all my players have been given an extra fixture in 28/29 apart from Cancelo, Laporte, Bowen and Weghorst.

It does make Saint-Maximan look like a great pick for his back to back doubles, with Brentford before and Palace after them.

Also makes me want to find a spot for Ward-Prowse (to go with Broja) but I might do that in 27 for a hit - he has NOR/vil+NEW/WAT over 3 weeks. Considering bringing in Jiminez for Weghorst - can't beleive I was considering a Burnley player! :P Actually I might leave Weghorst for the 2 doubles and then review.

I'll sleep on this and have a last minute panic tomorrow am

You are taking a big gamble. You obviously will do well, if Salah has a low score. But the odds are probably against you with Liverpool playing Norwich and Leeds at home. Imagine he scores in the region of 10 to 15 points each game, a total of 25 ... normal (c) = 50 ... tc = 75 .... how do you want to catch up these points. In addition, Salah ownership is above 55%. So if you get him in, at least you reduce the risk significantly with a normal (c).

Food for thought. Good luck!

Really looking hard at WC this week now, after the DGW announcements. My team could do with the surgery too. And have both FH chips left, so can use one for GW27.

First cut looks something like this...
Ramsdale Sa
TAA Robertson Digne White Kilman
Salah Son Raphinha Saka Ramsey
Kane Broja King
£0.1m ITB

That would mean (without further transfers):
DGW26: 11 doublers starting
GW27: FH
DGW28: BB: 8 doublers (11 if Arsenal get their double too, which I guess is now unlikely) + full playing bench
DGW29: 8 doublers starting + Raphinha, Digne, Broja/King

Main sacrifice is that it means no TC for Salah this week.

Even so, very tempting...

All set, made a late change of Weghorst and Laporte out for Jimenez and Coady - Wolves now have 2 doubles and a fixture in GW30 which was too tempting.

Ramsdale
Trent (c) Robertson Cancelo Coady Tierney
Mane Saka Son Bowen
Jimenez
Subs - Dubravka, Ramsey, Saint-Maximan, Broja

1.9m in the bank, to allow for the inevitable move to bring in Salah

Total disaster

Although at this stage its not so much the lack of Salah that was the problem - his replacement, Mane, also scored.

The missing Trent and Robertson was a bad start.

The late switch of Weghorst to Jimenez didn't work out well.

And then of course the late goal against Arsenal capped a great Saturday afternoon.

Oh, and Everton got beat :(

Yeah, that’s tough. The Liverpool defensive changes in particular were a real blow.

My WC team ended up a bit different to the above…
Ramsdale, Foster
TAA, Robertson, Digne, Saiss, Semedo (Digne)
Salah(c), Son, Raphinha, Saka (Coutinho)
Jimenez, Lacazette (Broja)

That team has done OK so far (61 points). After 2 disastrous weeks where I dropped from 50k to 110k, the WC has got me just back inside the top 100k, with a full 11 players going again later this week, so hopeful of a further rise before FH GW27.
