FND - Please sign the petition and help
Evening all,
Long-standing members round here may (or may not) realise that I haven't been around much over the past few years. I've run my usual set of fantasy competitions, but I've had to give up on any Fantasy Football as I simply couldn't spare the time.
And this brings me on to the point of this post (which I've managed to get clearance from Vid). Jnr has had FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) for the past couple of years, and there's a petition currently in place to try and generate some NHS funding into looking into this disease. The petition has been going for a while now, and needs a final push to get to the 10,000 signatures to get something to happen, or all the effort will just be lost. The petition is here and Mrs S has done a brief write-up on the FND Action Website
If people read this and decide not to do it, then I shalln't be offended (as I won't know), but any signatures that can be added will be gratefully received. I don't normally go in for these sort of things myself, but for the members that have entered my many competitions over the years could show some appreciation ...
Many thanks for getting this far with reading this posting and keep an eye out the annual running of the Fantasy World Snooker Championship Competition on a thread near you.
Cheers,
Shaggy

Re: FND - Please sign the petition and help
Morning all,
At 6:02 this morning, the petition clicked over to 10,000 signatures. I know not all the final 1000 signatures are necessarily FISO-ites, but I'd like to guess that there was a fairly high percentage. All that needs to happen now is for the government to respond in a positive outcome. After all, they've not got a lot else to be doing at the moment.
I feel genuinely touched that having had to request help from the masses, that you answered the call. I know that this is hopefully the first step along the path to getting Jnr the right treatment, and that it won't happen over-night, but I'd like to put it on record that I am very grateful to you all.
Cheers,
Shaggy

Re: FND
Sorry for dragging this up, but the BBC2 program Hospital was discussing FND tonight. Jnr is currently going through Health Psychology to see if he can join a waiting list that is 2 years long.
Not doing this to get sympathy from the masses, more just a realisation that everyone has their own cross to bear. When something happens to us and we say "Why is it always me?", it generally isn't always me, but seeing the people on the program and seeing Jnr made me realise that he isn't the only one with this, and there are others that have it worse.

....and people are madly worried about getting a virus.
(Fair worry if you are old or have issues but not personally for the majority of us)

Shaggy, no idea if you’re still reading this thread. It’s so long ago that I forgot that I’d signed this and contributed to the thread.
Just thought you may be interested to hear that, through my work, I have recently been supporting some FND research and some practical support for people who suffer from it. There seems to be some momentum building over the last year or two. Fingers crossed that continues.
I hope that you and Jnr are well.
