Cheers, that was a close contest that swayed to and fro until Arsenal levelled at 2-2.

SEMI FINALS - LEG 1 - DAY 3 - SCORES

bluenosey 7 v 9 eagle224
dickypick 8 v 10 forestfan

As the rhyme says seven, eight, lay them straight. Nine, ten, a big fat hen.... of an away lead.

Or maybe it should, more appropriately be
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,

Anyway Lord Forestfan has leapt into a 2 point lead as Maid Dickypick hasn't milked enough points and Lady Eagle224 has danced into a 2 points lead over Swan Bluenosey who just swims slowly on. Aha!

SEMI FINALS - LEG 1 - FINAL SCORES

bluenosey 7 v 9 eagle224

So, nobody scored any points on Monday. OK, I did but I'm out.

Just realised also that of the 24 teams who scored points this week, the above 4 are all next to each when sorted in alphabetical order and are on 7, 8, 9, 10 points in that order. It wasn't a bug in my spreadsheet either - it did happen.

What will happen this coming weekend? Second leg reverse fixtures with eagle224 and forestfan both having not only a 2 point lead but also home advantage (plus a bonus of a healthy away goal tally for any tie break).

Don't forget Leg 2 starts TONIGHT - only 9 games this weekend with the Cockerels chickening out of playing their reserves so don't make it 8 for you by forgetting the FNF!

Kylie and murf's Premiership Predictions "Festive" Knockout Cup 2021
SEMI FINALS - LEG 2 - DAY 2 - SCORES

eagle224 6 v 5 bluenosey (Aggregate 15 v 12 , first leg 9 v 7 )
forestfan 5 v 7 dickypick (Aggregate 15 v 15 , first leg 10 v 8 )

Tense!

bluenosey is 3 behind, a 5-2 today would do it on away goals. A 3-0 wouldn't so he needs at least one exact score.

The other game is all square with the away goals decider going either way depending on whether today is a low scoring draw or a high scoring one. Easiest thing - just win it today!

I think I'm through as we both landed 8 from 9 outcomes (no exact scores). Congratulations to bluenosey though on taking the Goals overall lead.

SEMI FINALS - LEG 2 - FINAL SCORES

eagle224 8 v 8 bluenosey (Aggregate 17 v 15 , first leg 9 v 7 )
forestfan 6 v 10 dickypick (Aggregate 16 v 18 , first leg 10 v 8 )

That was all close. bluenosey just couldn't catch eagle224 who gets through due to his Leg 1 lead.

In the other game forestfan couldn't hold onto his Leg 1 lead. dickypick came out flying in Leg 2 and then couldn't be overhauled.

Kylie and murf's Premiership Predictions "Festive" Knockout Cup 2021
THE FINAL

eagle224 v dickypick

Kylie is here one last time (well, last time for this comp) and has given eagle224 the home dressing room for the midweek first leg. dickypick gets the home dressing room for the weekend second leg.

This all assumes there are games surviving to be picked!

I think there may be a rule somewhere about minimum number of games - As this is a crucial final, I will now over-rule that rule (if it even exists) and say -
each leg will count if there are at least 3 games played and there must be 2 legs for the final to count

Any sets with 1 or 2 games will be incorporated as part of the next 'set'/leg which will then give us a combined result - if there are at least 3 games in total.

Would be just my luck that I finally reach a final, after a long wait, only to find it falls apart. Good luck dickypick.

The final won't fall apart! With cancellations, it may drag on to a decidedly unfestive time - but it will happen!

Good luck both :D

Lucky I’m not still in this in a way, as threw away 2 points by not picking last night. I guess I’m well behind in the third place match…

The first leg has had enough games to be declared a result after tonight.

Leg 2 down to 5 games already.....

Sorry no updates yet. On phone with dodgy connection.

First leg counted.

Still 4 games in Leg 2 so we will have a result... unless we get 2 more postponements....

Congratulations to eagle224 :D - got his points in early before covid struck hard, turning the final into more of a sideshow than a showdown. Hey ho, ho, ho.....

Commiserations to dickypick and the rest of us. Thanks for playing - there may be something here later in the season and there should be Egg Chasing and AFCON prediction comps coming up in the new year (virus permitting). Stay safe and stay tooned.
