Lockdown 3. Post Xmas blues and yearning for some lighter nights (and mornings). These tunes are helping me on my way.

Only recently discovered Gerry Cinnamon and this is one of his best :-

Back to 1987. I heard this on Absolute the other week - hadn't heard it for ages - and now it's wormed itself between my lug holes :)

Bit of country now and a classic tune, for anyone mising a poker night with their mates-

Next up, possibly the finest song Chris Martin has written :-

Finally, for all you lard arses out there - and I'm one - stick this on your MPs player/phone. If this doesn't get you up the hill, nothing will

Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa
20 years or so ago LA Song was popular in NZ, so glad Beth made it  these two talents are awesome together.

beautiful piano in that Bowie one though :)
I have only just yesterday watched Bowie the Last Five Years - I know  my planner is so full of stuff that's been there for ever.
Maybe when Winter comes around ALL my Box sets etc can get cleared out.

Beth Hart is a great singer but I can't listen to that song without thinking of Etta James' version at Montreux in the mid 70's.

if you ever get chance to dig it out on YouTube it'll send shivers down your spine

They are round since 2004, but I somehow managed to miss them!

The funeral is a class song. Danny McAskill used it as the backdrop for one of his Scottish vids I think. Maybe the one where he goes back to Skye

This is the Danny Macaskill vid that used Band of Horses as the soundtrack. Didn't realise how long ago it was. Great track.

Buit lately I've been mainly listening to my album of the year so far - Cassandra Jenkins - an overview of Phenomenal nature. This is Hard Drive. Kind of Chromatics meets Mazzy Star and St Etienne with some Itali-disco grooves

and Michaelangelo. "I'm a three legged dog, working with what I've got". I've felt like that a bit this year :-)

and crosshairs, with a simply beautiful video of a snowy New York

I got out old vinyl records that I got from my parents. I listened with pleasure to albums of 70s rock bands. There is a special mood, a special drive in this music. It's good that now you can buy everything. I have dreamed of a turntable for a long time and finally got the Crosley Belt-Drive turntable.

I prefer The Dickies version 😉

If you like the idea of electronic Gregorian Chant with no vocals, then give Fripp and Eno a listen... for some strange reason I'd never listened to them before 😞😞😞

Funnily enough I was watching some old Amy youtube clips last night, but I've not seen this one before. Beautiful - takes someone pretty special to take a Dinah Washington song and do it justice.

I know you're not in the UK but BBC 4 have the Arena 'When Amy went to Dingle' documentary on at 10.30 UK tonight. Will probably be on the BBC website after that if its not geo-restricted.

Its a must watch - she's performing in a little church in Ireland just with a bass player and a pianist in front of a small crowd and its just the most fantastic performance and some lovely interviews as well. I don't think I've seen a better music documentary to be honest.

Found the performance part:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv6qB6zgDAQ

(misremembered - was actually bass and guitar not bass and piano)

but honestly its worth digging out the Arena documentary for the context and the interviews.

:D watching it now, much better and very happy memories of Amy than the live concert videos, so just about Amy.
