£75 and 5 fewer flanges....it doesn't add up.

Edit, this is rubbish..fixtures have been moved after all.

What did they charge for Premiership Plus in the mid-00s?

I guess it’s aimed at the fans who would have paid money to attend the match, not expecting the neutrals to be spending that to watch a 0-0 between Burnley and Sheff Utd. Although there’s been worse value PPVs, mostly in the field of heavyweight boxing...

Should never have been introduced with covid going on. It encouraged people to gather together, either in the Pub or round mates houses, to watch the matches. Exactly what you are not supposed to be doing  .

Also many people had renewed and joined Virgin, sky & BT in the last three months when they were showing all the games only because they were doing that. Many would have had second thoughts if they knew they were going to try and charge £75 a week or £300 a month on top of thier already overpriced charges. (I don't know the full price as I only had to pay £9 extra to get both this time).

Sky & BT were never behind PPV as a) it makes them look bad, b) they don't get much cash out of it and c) it isn't something they can build on.

If you watch Sky/BT Sports you will have seen virtually nil advertising of the PPV games.

Fixtures until the end of November sorted with 10 kick offs per weekend. This granular approach is rubbish for extra fixture spotting opportunities (if that's a feature of your fantasy game of choice). No reason why they can't go further into December now.

Newcastle United’s fixture at Aston Villa, due to be played on Friday, has been postponed following a significant increase in COVID-19 at Newcastle.

Public Health England North East (PHE) advised that their training facilities remain closed.

Possible dates for the games postponed from the 1st day of the season:

OGS said yesterday he didn't know when @ManUtd game at Burnley would be played but they both are scheduled to play in the same midweek in January, so both have 13th Jan free. Same for @ManCity and Villa on 20th Jan.

This season's Carabao Cup final has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday, 25 April.

An English Football League statement said the decision to move the Wembley game from Sunday, 28 February was taken with the objective of having "as many supporters in attendance as possible".

Premier League clubs are looking at a two-week “cooling-off” break in January over fears of Covid-19 outbreaks causing chaos.

After an outbreak in Manchester City’s squad, which caused their game against Everton to be called off on Monday night, several more clubs have been affected on Tuesday.

Fulham’s staff and players returned a number of positive tests ahead of their meeting with Spurs tonight with that match potentially under threat.

Sheffield United’s game against Burnley took place despite the club recording “numerous positives”..

Sam Allardyce, the West Bromwich Albion manager, revealed his squad had also had a positive test.

Manchester City have returned no new positives in Tuesday's round of coronavirus testing. Five players still self-isolating. Training resumes this afternoon.

Their game should go ahead then if nothing else changes. 14 first team members must have tested negative.

Fixtures postponed

Post by SamD »

So, five Premier League fixtures (and counting?) will need to be rearranged in the new year:

Burnley v Man Utd - postponed from MatchDay01, Sept
Man City v Aston Villa - also MD01, Sept

Aston Villa v Newcastle - MD11, Dec

Everton v Man City - MD16, Dec
Spurs v Fulham - MD16, Dec

Also, as the Merseyside region is moving up a level to Tier 3 Covid-19 restrictions, no PL stadium can admit paying spectators for the foreseeable future.
