Re: Covid
Newcastle have been unwilling to reveal the exact numbers or identities of those affected.
Well f me sideways but this is baloney! Where is the proof!!
Looks to me they are hiding something, perhaps having a few key players out and are abusing this situation to avoid losing the game.

It is likely that Newcastle will have provided more detail to the Premier League than to the public

Re: Covid
If they were doing that, they'd surely have announced it at the same time. Neither team is in Europe so plenty opportunities to play it later, Tuesday 5th Jan for example. It's also quite possible both teams exit in the FAC 3R and they would have a free Saturday slot (23/1) in that case.Billy Bongo wrote: Probably just moved to next week and still in gwk11.

Re: Covid
They probably don't know how long the isolation will last and how the situation develops, so that alone prevents them from making any announcements just yet. I think it's only announced that the isolation will last at least until Friday. If they can resume to training after Friday, then players should have enough time to prepare for a midweek match (not ideal circumstances for players, of course). Obviously I'm not saying that the match would take place in midweek even in that case, I'm only saying that the fact that they didn't make any announcement yet might not mean much.Ruth_NZ wrote: ↑01 Dec 2020, 17:42If they were doing that, they'd surely have announced it at the same time. I wonder if it's also possible that we don't even know if the match takes place in GW11 until the GW11 deadline takes place! Obviously in normal circumstances it would be impossible to arrange a match in such a short notice, but it could be different now without crowd etc.
I'm only speculating with different options. I agree it's probably more likely that it won't take place in GW11.

Re: Covid
Times reporting could be as many as 10 first teamers from Newcastle affected and there is a risk even the West Brom game next week could be off . i can't see the Villa game going ahead

Re: Covid
I wonder how long it will be before wealthy clubs will be paying for their players to get vaccines rather than extra tests

Thanks Billy. Beeb reporting that Prem clubs won’t be pushing to the front of the queue but I agree with you, they’ll find a way if they can.
Also, that NUFC have West Brom next is something to bear in mind for all those looking to bring in Johnstone for Martinez

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/20 ... d-crystal/
« United training ground has now been moved back for a minimum of three extra days, with Monday (7 December) now the very earliest it can happen.»
« The Telegraph also revealing that three Newcastle players who have now produced positive results, were all involved involved in the game against Crystal Palace on Friday, with no news so far from Palace on whether this has now led to positive cases in their squad and / or staff.»
« The expectation is that the St James Park match against West Brom will go ahead in nine days time, a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 12 December. However, that will be dependent on controlling the spread of this virus outbreak and getting the Newcastle United training ground back open, with players allowed to train together as soon as possible next week.»

Re: Covid
Bruce confirms that Newcastle will still be without a ‘chunk’ of players for Mondays game against West Brom but that they should have enough of a team ‘to win’ the game. Others still recovering and/or in isolation. He is not naming names to respect players’ privacy (cobbled together from his press conference)
Separately someone posted that Wilson has been training and cited an Instagram post. Sounds like he’s one who will be on the pitch.
Sorry that’s not linked to a source. There will be one. My take is that the match will happen with a weakened team. I’ll personally start Wilson because if this is incorrect he’ll miss the whole game. But I wouldn’t bring in a Newcastle player in case they’re one who will be missing.

London going into Tier 3 on Wednesday so no crowds at Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham. Bet the Arsenal fans who had tickets will be relieved
