It can be a fine line to walk between humour in music and derided “novelty songs”. The likes of Blur and Madness generally stayed the right side of it, many others have probably unwittingly stepped over it.

X Factor isn’t on this year is it? Not sure it even was last year, so not just a lockdown thing, and its ratings had long since faded. I know, there’s that Little Mix shite that Boris’s press conference took off the air the other week, and a few other talent show clones... not sure if any of them bother to compete for the Christmas top spot though.
