2020 Tote Ten to Follow: Flat * final standings *

Post by SamD »

The Tote has launched its Ten To Follow competition for the Flat season, offering £100,000 guaranteed prize-money, plus four £10,000 monthly prizes from June to September and prize-money stretching all the way to 100th in the table.

The entry fee remains at £5 per team and the size of the top prize is dependent on the number of entries, with 70 per cent of the pool going to the winner. A free-to-play league carries a £5,000 top prize and there is also a charity league with a £5,000 prize.

Entry deadline is 11am on Tuesday 16 June, just before the first race at Royal Ascot when the points scoring starts. The competition will run until Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday 17 October, with a transfer window scheduled for August.

I would be interested in any type of syndicate/group entry?
Can we get a few others interested?

Tote TTF group entry

Post by SamD »

Am happy to join or create a syndicate if there's sufficient numbers.

Please post in thread or send PM if this is of interest, indicating how many teams you might wish to add and suggest possible formats, eg: how we select horses for each line, etc.

Realize there's just ten days to deadline but this weekend's Guineas meeting should help.

Shall set up general Fiso league in any case to cater for the one free team per person.

Tote horses

Post by SamD »

Tote has forwarded a PDF file of horses in TTF contest.

Hope to create Excel sheet with a line for each horse showing:
name, age, gender, rank in last six runs, trainer, rating, etc.

Happy to email contents on request: simply send PM with your mail ID.

Note Tote is updating list so new horses will have to be added manually.

Thoughts coming together now . I don't mind throwing up to £50 at it . Who else is in Sam ? I think its all about getting all the right middle distance 3yos - as ever - the rest sort of pick themselves - rightly or wrongly.

Ten to Follow update

Post by SamD »

Currently, there's a handful of FISOns showing interest in joining syndicate to tackle the Tote Flat game.

More welcome, of course: simply PM or post in thread.

Options being considered:
- each member pays for two lines or more, at £5 per entry, and also provide shortlist of 15 picks by Sat 13th
- silent investors can join - ie pay entry fee without providing selections
- entry lines to be based on popularity of picks
- any winnings (top 100 final position or monthly return) would be shared equally, assuming everyone invests same amount.

Please suggest any alternative idea.

Ideally, group should produce shortlist by Sat night. Syndicate lines – with everyone’s approval - would be entered on Tote site on Monday night, the eve of Royal Ascot meeting.

Can send Excel sheet and form guide of all 491 horses to anyone who provides email ID via PM.

Tote Ten to Follow update

Post by SamD »

Some notes:

1. Mini-league has been set up for the single stable everyone can set up for free in the Tote TTF competition.
Each FISOn is welcome to join with his/her own free team:
Name = Fiso Federation
PIN = 000195

2. Separately, Fiso syndicate members have each produced a shortlist of 15. Plan is to enter 12 x £5 stables by Monday, the eve of Royal Ascot.

3. The horse-list has grown from 491 to 546 since midweek. Asked Tote for names of 55 additions on Sat morning: nothing received yet.

What is the main point of the Fiso leagues? An internal Fiso comp or to promote a Fiso league to do well? I ask as if it's the former you obviously won't allow late entries, but if it's the latter I'd like to add my teams into the mix, having missed this thread earlier.

Hi Striker,
For answer to query, please review post at 1.18 on Sun 14 Jun.
It's obviously too late to join Flat syndicate but perhaps Jumps version in November may appeal?
Cheers.

Search stable

Post by SamD »

The Tote now provides a facility to allow anyone to review other people's stables.
Email below explains.

- - - -

Hello Sam

You got in touch with us on Wednesday to say you’d set up a syndicate for the Ten-to-Follow but put all the stables on your account and the other members of the syndicate couldn’t see them.

We’ve changed the search now for you, so they should be able to find them.

If you go to the Leaderboard and start typing the name of the stable in the bit that says “Search stable name”, it will filter out all the stables to list the ones that fit that search.
You don’t even need to press enter – it just starts looking as soon as you start typing.

It should work even if somebody isn’t logged in.

Let me know if that solves the problem for you.

All the best

Jamie

Thanks Sam for the window dates. It seemed likely that the last of the five days would be Aug 18th or morning of 19th, but I hadn't been able to see any info on the Tote website. Did you email them or have I missed an obvious source of info.

Does anyone have any good ideas relating to the substitutions? Bringing in new horses seems an easier decision than which ones to drop, as I there is one horse (Mohather) who I missed completely and only another two that are of interest. Personally I'm condidering dropping Stradivarious as the only bonus point race in which he might run is the Arc, and I'm prepared to give him a miss over 2400m when up against Love and Enable. Based on Gosden's thoughts, his only prep race for that will be the Foy, again over 2400m. Even if he wins that he'll only score around 30 pts. While some of the best middle distance French colts will be in opposition they traditionally won't be 100%, and so he may have a decent chance based on his performance in the Coronation Cup when far from wound up. However if we make the heroic assumption that he has a 50% chance of winning the Foy, his EV points would only be 15, so he becomes droppable. Whaddya reckon?

My main suggestion is that one shouldn't start analysing one's choices until after the Jacques Le Marois (Aug 16th) as with luck it could be an excellent source of information for finalising one's transfer selections.

Tote TTF transfers

Post by SamD »

@ Striker: Contacted Tote via 'Help' icon yesterday for transfer dates as I hadn't seen info on site either.

It's relatively easy for Fiso syndicate members to remove two horses from most stable lines; sadly, Sceptical has died and several in shortlist haven't got off the mark (yet).

Well done on high rank of Pile Of Horseshoes 1. Your idea of removing Stradivarius sounds good if his main target is the Prix de L'Arc in October. But I wouldn't add Mohaather or any other who's earned big points as it's unlikely stable would make progress ( eg two of current top three include Mohaather so that horse and stable have flown). But what do I know...

Good luck with cogitations.

Thanks. I understand your reluctance to bring in horses which have already scored big, and there are some situations where it is desirable to avoid such horses/players and one can often confirm this by comparing one's own team/stable/whatever with the current leaders. On the other hand if you suspect that one such horse is going to be a top second half of season point there is a case for bringing in that horse if the rest of your team isn't looking too shabby relative to the leading teams. The key to the remaining part of the season is surely, that forgetting the lottery handicaps, three of the seven remaining bonus races are over 10 furlongs while another is over a mile, so this is where one must concentrate one's firepower.

Striker surely you need to find the winner of ebor or st leger and hope it runs again - ideally in another bonus race? Not paid attention to flat version of the game nor profess to be a racing expert.....
