Well, if we take nothing else from tonight's game I am convinced now that Williams should be first choice left-back. He is everything the Luke Shaw was supposed to be but has fallen short of.

The negative of course is the injury to Rashford - timing couldn't be much worse with first choice midfield missing (if only the transfer window was open so we could do something about it  ) with LiVARhampton up next...

One less piece of deadwood or another squad member needing replacing?
Hold on, Sky are reporting an offer of a new one year contract to "fend off" Inter Milan. Classic Ed. Probably thinks they'll now offer £30m for him.
They offered and have agreed, a fee of 1 and a bit million to buy him now (as opposed to summer freebie).

Every penny counts.....

Transfer Window Woodward Watch (WWW) Day 16

You get the impression Ed will see that as a win!

So the rumours are Fernandes will play the Lisbon derby on Friday and then join United but other rumours state the two idiots running each club are still miles apart.

In other news, Boubakary Soumare set to decide between Man United and Chelsea before signing this January. Described as another Pogba but without the baggage. If our Ed is selling the dream to secure the deal, who's putting money on him signing for Chelsea!

So, Ashley Old has gone to Inter, then... and Maguire the new United captain. Makes sense, I always hate seeing clubs have a figurehead captain who rarely starts, just on grounds of seniority. Arsenal for example have done that a lot in recent years. Some downplay the impact of captaincy, but most of the great teams throughout history have had an iconic leader.

Isn’t that because great teams have great players... so there are probably 4 or 6 ‘worthy’ captains??

Fernandes transfer stuck because United not near enough to asking price.

Meanwhile Haaland gets a hat trick on his Borussia Dortmund debut.

(I won't comment on how attractive they are as that is not relevant IMO)

Klopp's programme notes on United:

“I am full of admiration for the work Ole is doing, this season in particular, given what he tries to juggle. As a fellow manager it is easy to see the progress they make, although others on the outside are often not so quick to recognise. They have recruited some exceptional players and the evolution of their squad makes them one of the strongest in Europe I would say. Look at their talent from the keeper through to the forwards. They have world-class talent in that team and a squad full of match-winners. Big investment has resulted in a very strong group...Of course, looking to build something takes time. We know this ourselves. But they build with outstanding results and performances as a foundation. Their win this week in the FA Cup against Wolves was yet more evidence of how dangerous they are.”

Indeed. Just like all Liverpool supporters, he's hoping Solskjaer stays in the role for some time. At the very least until Pochettino is safely elsewhere.

No it wasn't - contact before the ball came to do geas hand so a definite foul and correct VAR decision

Not sure what Neville was on about - it's a clear foul. The keeper has to have his arms up so any contact into him is rightly given as a foul.

It wasn't his man - he stepped in to lindelofs zone to cover him and whoever was supposed to be running with / blocking him. Have you ever played the game before dot?
