FPL Cup 2019/20
It's that time of year again when 7 million managers dare to dream of a day in May when they will lift an FPL Goody Bag containing no less than a stress ball, a pen and a key ring. Yes, the FPL Cup is about to start.
I think it's my turn to take one for the FISO team and start this thread off, as traditionally whoever does so is eliminated in either the quallies or Round 1.
According to the FPL site Round 1 will be in GW17 (Dec 14th) with 4,194,304 qualifiers and, although it doesn't explicitly say how qualifying will work this season, assuming it's the same as before means the qualifying round will be GW16 - this weekend's matches.
As these questions always seem to be asked (and probably will be again anyway) here's a reminder of how it all works:
Entry is automatic for everyone who has entered a team, so there's no need to do anything.
In order to qualify for Round 1 proper you need to finish with a GW (Not OR) rank at least less than 4,194,305 in GW16.
If more than 4,194,304 teams have a rank lower than 4,194,305 (almost certain to happen) then there is a random draw to determine the final places.
e.g if you finish in a group of 1,000 teams with a rank of 4,193,501 then you will face a virtual draw in which 804 will be selected to go through to Round 1 and 196 are eliminated.
For the qualifying round (GW16), your GW ranking is not affected by transfer hits (-4s), but it is affected by the number of transfers you make.
So, if we consider 2 teams for example:
TEAM A which scores 50 points with 2 Free Transfers
TEAM B which scores 50 points with 1 Free Transfer and also takes 1 hit for -4
Both TEAM A and TEAM B will have the same GW ranking as they have both scored 50 points and made 2 transfers.
However TEAM C, which scores 50 points with 1 Free Transfer will be ranked immediately above both of them.
If you survive the qualification round then congratulations, you are through to Round 1. From here it's a straightforward knockout competition with the team with the highest GW score (after transfer hits are deducted) going through to face another random opponent in the next round. Free transfers do not affect the result in the knockout rounds. Any chips played will count towards your score as normal.
In the case of a tie the tie-breakers are:
1. Most goals scored in the GW
2. Fewest goals conceded in the GW
3. Virtual coin toss.
Goals scored/conceded are calculated using your final XI after auto-subs. Goals conceded are counted for Midfielders and Forwards as well as GKs and Defenders. Goals scored by Captains, Vice Captains or Triple Captains do not count double or triple. I'm not sure if we've ever established if the BB chip affects the count of goals scored/conceded, but I would suspect that only the XI players on the pitch are counted*.
I think that just about covers everything. I'll keep a tally of how everyone fares who posts on here.
Good luck everyone.
*Update: See MoSe's posts below. It is suspected that all XV players count in a tiebreak for Goals Scored or Conceded if the BB chip is in play. If anyone comes across any occurrences of this during the cup then a post here so we all know for sure would be much appreciated.

Re: FPL Cup 2019/20
Thanks for the update TT
GW 15 was ( is) a shocker for me so have taken my two free transfers to sort out injuries and price loss problems.
For me GW16 will hinge on Mo Salah 's performance. Playing him as captain as a last stand of stubbornness will make or break the the qualification score.
Good luck FISOers The cup is a bit of fun if you can get a good run

Good luck all! One of my favourite times in the whole season is watching everyone embark on their cup journeys full of hope... then get eliminated in round 1 by a dead team that only has 10 actual players.

I "think" we instead tested that when using BB, FPL considers you play with XVTalkie Toaster wrote: ↑05 Dec 2019, 00:43 Goals scored/conceded are calculated using your final XI after auto-subs.

regardless who you lineup on the pitch (that only matters to us and those who want to assess "whatifs")
so in H2H GS/CG for BB teams are counted on the XV, I'm afraid

Re: FPL Cup 2019/20
can't recall where I stored Fiso HoF for FPL Cup
probably posted in last season topic somewhere?
Last season fisoers (known teams, at least) got all out in GW28, there was none in GW29
reaching GW28 means they were in Last 2k. I think that was in the mid-worst results in Fiso history?
of course our top was Joshhhhhua reaching the Final in one of very recent seasons

Pretty sure I’ve gone out in week one every year for the last 5 seasons.
Much like the H2H league I joined recently, 3rd top scorer overall and zero points on the board.

in 13 recorded seasons,
only twice Fisoers failed to reach at least last 2k
5 times we reached last 256 at least (including 1 Final and 1 Semi)

I didn't even qualify the last two seasons. I tend to have an awful score on that one GW.Caf wrote:Good luck all! I've got it in the back of my mind though that somebody observed that your team still gets rearranged during the auto-subbing process if somebody doesn't play, even though technically you don't have any subs. Whether that's a sign of some distinction between the starting XI and the bench or just lazy coding running BB teams through the auto-sub procedures I don't know. I could just be remembering it wrong also.

Re: FPL Cup 2019/20
There will be a lot of abandoned teams and casual players making the cut for the cup with slightly out of favor Salah & Kane scoring big, while Mane, Chelsea, and Man City coming up snake eyes in the qualification week.

Shame your bench order is Ayew - kelly.
Some Ryan Maddison points and you will make it Vardy is so well owned and captained I hope he stays quiet even though I own him.

I always draw a dead team that just happens to have form for that week there are probably a lot of multi entries that keep their best entries going and ditch the rest and 'm sure there's people with strange teans as the " transfers in " are sometimes very confusing

Re: FPL Cup 2019/20
As things stand 42 points and 2 transfers puts you on the cusp and facing a random draw to qualify.
However this cutoff point can be expected to rise significantly with 1 match still to go (aubameyang has 20% ownership) and popular choices like Tomori and Mané not getting minutes leading to a lot of autosubs.
Also as Mané was a viable Captain pick and with many of the VC options also scoring heavily (Kane, Son, Alli, Vardy, Salah) this will also be a source of extra 'hidden' points which will push the qualifying score higher.
I'm not great at predictions, so take this with a block of salt, but something above 50 wouldn't surprise me.
