Salah out for a month?

Post by germainelefoe »

Articles a few days old now, but it's the first I had heard of it being this long

https://www.caughtoffside.com/2019/11/1 ... for-month/

https://www.empireofthekop.com/2019/11/ ... r-a-month/

No idea how reputable these sources are, I would guess a lot of it is speculation but still.....

He was coming back into form as well and I thought he might be a nice differential almost vs some managers. Guess it means I should get Mane in then instead.

I also thought he was showing some sparkle and was considering bringing him in. It's a wait and see now.

It is a case of either being "the usual internet garbage" or "no smoke without fire". We just don't know which it is....

All seems to have cropped up since he was photographed in a protective boot at Egypt training. This could support either theory though as the injury was pre-known and he did go and join the Egypt camp (which he surely wouldn't do if he was out for a month???).

As for form, he may be racking up a few points but he hasn't looked quite right to me, as a fan, all season - before and after ankle injury was known about. Statistically he has racked up exactly the same total number of goals+assists in each of his 3 seasons at this stage (think that is league only data).

PS No official quotes but the local paper is usually a good guide and "the ECHO understands Salah is still rated as a doubt by Melwood's medical staff ahead of the return of Premier League football this weekend." (and, in other news, it is the same situation for Andy Robertson).

Robertson is almost certainly ruled out seeing as I took a hit to bring him in.

Robertson hasn't been training at all for weeks so this is another positive sign.

Still none the bloody wiser then..........is Gomez still out as well? Could be a good short term differential if Robertson is out....especially with Matip still crocked (no sign of him yet unless I have missed something)?

Well, his quote is kinda self-contradictory.....

"For the last two and a half weeks I’ve not trained at all for Liverpool. I’ve trained the day before a game, missed a Champions League game other than the last 15 minutes against Genk and missed Arsenal in the League Cup.”

My move too, would have removed Pukki with the benefit of hindsight

So, with Salah not playing this weekend, is that because of the mystery injury some are discussing, or simply his turn to rest? If the former, then I assume Mane should be my next pool choice (for Sterling) if the latter, seems like Salah would be a good 'pool choice as we head into the holiday season and a truck-full of games. With his rest out of the way, a lower chance of more rest for him than for, say, Mane or Firmino?

Salah traveled to London with the team and was on the bench for the Palace match. My guess is that he was going to be a super sub if required but only as a last resort. Rest on the ankle is the only cure for him. If he plays against Napoli they are taking the p!ss and for the next two home games he would not be required for them to secure the points imo. If he is on the bench or not in the squad against Napoli then he could start against Brighton. If he starts and no adverse reaction against Napoli he is back to full first team. Too risky imo but I don't have a transfer to shift him out.

Hmmmm, sounds like a great differential, but depends on what happens in the Champions League match - Thank you.

At 1-1 he was readying to come on. Bobby scored so Klopp bought on Gomez instead.
