Ha! yes. Still good though. At the Peter Hook gig a month or so back if you were a middle aged slightly balding bloke on the run from the law all you needed to do to hide was go into Rock City with jeans and a black t shirt on. Would be like trying to find a specific grain of sand on a beach :D

Would bite your hand off to get out of an FM or Quireboys gig. Great venue though.

IDLES were very good, last week.
Saw Louise Wener (Sleeper) on Saturday, she still has quite an appeal, and a great voice, took me back a few years.
On Wednesday at the same Kentish Town venue its Papa Roach, that should be quite lively too.

Our local Grandad Fest, has Iggy Pop and yes, Tears for Fears this year. The young 'uns have been pointing out, how much Iggy Pop looks like Bridgette Macron. Maybe another Legion d'honneur is on it's way.

It was extraordinary.
No subject out of bounds. Everything from some really honest and touching words about grief for as lady who had lost her son to an overdose (His own son died a few years back), songwriting, politics, death, life, religion (some really interesting views) and whether he ever feels guilty about the adoration of fans ('No - should I?' in case you're wondering). Everything delivered with incredible openness and honesty, and a lot of humour - he's a funny guy :D

Never felt patronising or preachy.

got called out at one point for suggesting that Morrisey should be able to say whatever the eff he wants, leading to a great conversation about having to be open about difficult and controversial subjects. The thoughts that lead people to say bad things are there and don't go away if you ignore them or don't let people say them, so get them out in the open and deal with them (for better or worse).

Not all serious - lots of funny asides and quirky questions. It's pretty clear though that for a lot of people Nick Cave really is The Messiah.

And the music. All solo on a Steinway Piano. Opened with an incredible 'God is in the House' - could have heard a pin drop even through the whispered parts and went back to the piano regularly to either get a break from answering questions or for a request, or a song relevant to a question.

Obviously the Weeping Song, Skeleton tree etc are all suited to the format, but he managed an incredible Mercy Seat, a version of the Palaces of Montezuma that will have me digging out the Grinderman albums and even a solo piano version of Stagger Lee.

not a note out of place, and as he said himself the songs only really come to life when played live (admitting that sometimes the album version's aren't really that good)

If you can get a ticket - go. A 3 hour experience that you'll never forget.

Tiny Spiny +1 has seen Rammstein a couple of times and they are apparently awesome. I've seen them on film and it really is something else. :)

Arrows of Time in Camden on Thursday, actually there to see another on the bill, Glossii.
Then on Saturday, going to Roger Daltrey's Brexit party at Wembley stadium. Kaiser Chiefs I'm not fussed about, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, and Imelda May should be good.

And very good it was too. Pretty forgettable support act (The Big Moon). Played most of the new album I think, but the rest were mainly Doolittle, Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa songs plus maybe 1 each from the other albums.

Black Francis was his usual chatty self. 2 hours. 38 songs. 20 year old students singing along to Nimrods son, recorded 10 years before they were born, mixing it with 50 year old Pixies veterans.

I'm a massive fan of the Pixies so its hard to be objective, but they still sounded fantastic.

the new album's pretty good as well. Obviously no Surfer Rosa, but way better than anything else since the reformation.

Now you're talking. That should be quite an emotional experience, given what he'll be singing about.

I saw Steeleye Span last month. Maddy Prior is getting on a bit but the rest of the band were younger, incl a female violinist who was very easy on the eye. A faultless performance, got a standing ovation (the band, not the violinist, obv)

The gig earlier this year was him on his own in conversation with the audience. You could ask questions and he was very open about grief and Arthur’s death.
Think the gig in may will be more of an old school Bad Seeds gig, albeit with some songs from Ghosteen and Skeleton tree

Ghosteen is a very good album, but I find it difficult to listen to because it's like intruding on personal grief. But if music helps Nick deal with his loss then that's a blessing.
