Gameweek 5 Wildcard (Int Break)

Post by The Real Slim Shady »

Don’t know whether to WC over the international break or not.

Will you be wanting to catch some of the risers?

I have 4.6 in the back and have 2 FTs but still unsure what to do.

Wait and see for me, as I don't have injured players except Martial.

No rush.

Historically there has been less price movement over the early September International week than the weeks either side. If you’re keen to chase price risers might the following week work better?

The rate of transfers tends to plummet during the break as people stop paying attention for a week. I don’t know exact numbers but there seems to be about as many price changes as a normal week.

I’ll have to see how my team does this week. There’s some dead wood to clear out but right now it feels like it can be done with a hit or two.

And lots of WC's which don't count for Price changes....

No idea when to wildcard. Squad is in a pretty good shape as it is. Only changes I'd want to make are Pope for Heaton, Cantwell for Dendoncker and Zouma out. None of these are pressing, so can deal with it using FTs

I was all set for wildcard, but i like my team at the moment even though its under performing.

I think my wildcard will be resting on the fact that if man city and Liverpool concede again i will be 100% activating it, as im already losing enough ground and team value at the moment.

Aiming to use it after the GW8 int. break. Then it's Auba time, and I'm not even close to get him in given the structure of my team.

Is there any specific reason to wildcard this week? Any specific fixture runs or players to jump on?

Activated here. Front 3 of Aguero, Abraham, Pukki/Barnes/Haller.

De Bruyne, Salah and Sterling if possible. Otherwise, Mount and a cheapie.

Eyes on Laporte injury as Otamendi will come in at 5.4.

Cheap defenders as everyone seems to be struggling to keep clean sheets at the mo.

Im not sire what to do with Vardy as he was set to go today, but has been my main points earner the last 2 week.

Perez and Barkey have been awful, after the way they was pre season.

I want Tammy as well but going to stay away feom that Pukki bandwagon and hope he has more weeks like today

Currently on the following. Rather deflating removing Aguero after today's haul, however, I think I prefer KDB and Haller vs a 5.0 mid and Aguero. Waiting on Laporte news also.

Don't think so. The biggest fixture swing is for Leicester - and it's for worse. Burnley have pretty good fixtures from now on though, but I assume they are not a team worth using the WC for.

Having the likes of Martial, Perez, Laporte, AWB and Rico, wanting the likes of KDB and Abraham forced it for me.

Decided to go for 5 in defence in hope that the 2 clean sheets today for Liverpool and Man City are going to be a regular occurence again.

I also feel i need more starting players on the bench as cant reply on Greenwood and its only a matter of time with the cup games coming that big teams be resting there players

I’m not sure if I need to wildcard out of this team, but it’s very tempting to take out 3 potential problems for 3 risers tonight for -8 and then if any more changes are needed in the next 2 weeks I can press the button on the wildcard

Martial/King/Ings  James/Abraham/Haller

Is it worth it?

I’d be very tempted - like you say, take the -8 and then monitor to see if more surgery is needed.

I've hit the wildcard. My team was in pretty good shape for next week but I've been stuck playing 433 with Kane upfront, removing him and spreading the funds to a 343 requires multiple moves and there are players I want long term close to a rise (Pope, Soyuncu, Haller, Mount) and players I want to get rid (Rico Drinkwater Wesley)

I was all over Kane for the long term but if he wont get the armband ahead of Salah or Sterling too often then I've now come to the realisation the funds are better elsewhere and i just have to accept it when he hauls

Have been entrigued enough to play around with WC simply to see what I could get. I doubt I will push the button but

Pope - 4.0
TAA - Otamendi - Kolasinac - Lundstram - Guilbert
Sterling - KDB - Pepe - Martial - Cantwell
Greenwood - Haller - Firmino

was what I landed on. Green would be sure things and red would be doubts. Basically I just think Arsenal will score goals over the next stretch and Firmino looks ready to drop bombs this year and tends to be a bonus magnet so the 3.0M+ price tags Salah has on him I am beginning to seriously doubt.

I'd go with

Pope - 4.0
TAA - Zinchenko - Lundstram - 5.5 - 5.0
Salah - Sterling - Mount - Kdb - Cantwell
Barnes - Greenwood - Pukki

if I were to WC now. That'd be 7 changes to my current team:

Heaton  Pope
Van Dijk  TAA
AWB  5.5m
Zouma  5m
Soyuncu  Lundstram
Martial  Mount
Dendoncker  Cantwell

Uncertainty over 2 of the defensive spots is why I'm holding off at the moment. Plus, my front 6 is already pretty decent

I like the look of this and, as you may have read last week, considered something very similar.
The one thing I’d say is that with the £3m Salah saving it should be possible to get a starting 3rd forward. I guess that Pepe and Firmino in tandem stretch the budget in the way a super premium/Mount pairing would though?

I'm on my wildcard during the international break and have a question for you all:

Please choose the 2 of 3 forwards that you feel will net most points over the next 6 GW's:

1.) Pukki 7.0
2.) Abraham 7.2
3.) Haller 7.5

Thanks!

Fantasy Football Fix ranks them as:
Pukki
Haller
Abraham
I think Abraham suffers with them because of rotation risk with Giroud. In their model Haller also has a high ‘uncertainty’ factor, my interpretation being because he is a new player to the club and league

I was feeling impulsive so decided to push the button, didn't have KDB and had Martial injured but mainly wanted to get rid of AWB, drop a pool def, drop premium GK to Pope and pick up Otamendi instead and dump Jota for Abraham. So i did:

Ederson  Pope
AWB  Otamendi
Van Dijk  Lundstrom
Martial  KDB
Dendonkey  James
Jota  Abraham

So now have:

Pope
TAA, Digne, Otamendi,
Salah, Sterling, KDB, Mount, James
Abraham, Pukki

Button, Lundstrom, Greenwood, Rico

Have since come up with an Aguero, Salah, Sterling and KDB draft with 0.5 mil itb bank that is really tempting though...

I have Emerson in the 5.5 Def and because I went early I have Digne (6.0m) in your 5.0m spot and 0.7m ITB too.

Could remember you had a version with Firmino so had to go and look. Looked with funds spread out more than the one I posted. I did mine very quick and I do consider it a tad to risky but valid points you have on how to spread Salah funds. It would take some injury to key player before Id really consider it, but always fun to play around with the team :)
