Zinchenko - Laporte - Stones - Walker?

Both Zinchenko and Stones are great picks in that case (price 5.5), regarding the team having 20 cs last season.

Altough Z might be rotated (Mendy). But Stones should play almost every game, shouldn't he? Or is he threatened by Otamendi in any way?
Laporte is the only defender set in stone at Man City.

Otamendi will rotate with Stone,
Zinchenko will rotate with Mendy,
Walker will rotate with Cancelo,

It's what Pep does every year, I don't know why anyone expects different!
Wo fool ourself trying to find the perfect fpl-pick.

However, thx for the answer. Stones is out then, going back to fiddle with my team.

The MEN "understand" that Mendy is expected to miss the first couple of games and Mendy himself has said he will be back "soon".

Make of that what you will.

Cancelo is apparently undergoing a medical so could be announced later today.

Cancelo is a right sided player but has played left back so could he potentially replace Zinchenko?

Maybe to get 'practice' but with Zin, Mendy and Angelino I doubt he is earmarked to play there.

Pep never afraid to put a 5ft 9in player in at CB (Mascherano) and it makes sense as to filling Kompany's void.

Can’t see how you thought that was the consensus.

Man City basically never lost with Zinchenko playing, suspect Pep is aware of those facts.

Is this the only thread discussing Man City? Can't find anything about their midfield situation. Sorry if this is off topic too much.

This is Mendy were talking about, he is always due back and never does and if city keep 3 cleans sheets do you really think he just going to take his place ?

Man C's CS record is excellent and their defensive underlying numbers are too. However the signing of Cancelo has muddied waters a little (post GW1 probably). Laporte apart I can't really say who'll start GW2 onwards. They also have West Ham away, Spurs home, B'mouth away. They'll be doing very well if they keep 2 cleanies in those - based on last season, the odds would be around 40% for two clean sheets and 15% for 3 clean sheets. I'm think I'm going without a Man C defender pre-WC.

As I posted elsewhere... I thought this at the end of last season when they had TOT + mun back to back, and they got two CS...it’s a risky move

That is always possible. More likely at season end though. Still doesn't take away from the fact Man C claimed 1 in 2 CS last season, not 5 in 6 or something stupid.

He is only 5.5mn so not exactly that expensive but until GW4, I'm not that interested. He's a set and forget slot which is attractive when money's tight but only if he keeps starting.

All the talk of the new signing effectively ending any potential run for Ziv. Plus he was poor in the Charity Shield and Pep was going bonkers when Salah was running rings round him. Anyway I've taken him out, if we arent sure, best not to take too many punty picks.

The money’s needed elsewhere, Zinchenko is first choice and nobody else would buy Mendy. A LB in January is even on the table. It’s a risk. Bernardo & Kompany have spoken to Mendy too.

Also to touch up another point above. Man C should have lost at least once with Zinchenko starting. (Liv in the CS being an eg - he's had some bad games imo). It's one of those weird facts. He's not that good! He is a nice set and forget for 5.5mn but it's not a season ruiner if you don't start with him.

This is pretty much the point about Big defenders. They are expected to get not much less than 19 CS for the season and with some attacking\save return for me to have them.

However, predicting when and where CS's happen is as difficult as predicting when the average 6-7m Mid will score\assist ie they are involved in 1 in 10 of their team's goal .... (By average I don't mean the OOP bod up top or the season's uber must have)

As an aside I saw a list of top Prem Mids in the summer (MEN when Dilva said last season) and very few of them had a goal\assist rate if higher thsn every other match. Strangely Ozil does with 84 in 162 matches...

Even "safe" players like Sigurdsson blanked 60% of games last season. But, 40% of the time they return all the time so...
