4.0-5.0 Defenders

Doesn't seem that we have any base price defenders at the current time.

4.5 are available at several clubs, anybody stand out so far?

At 5.0, I wonder if Kyle Walker-Peters might share game time with Trippier this season?

A few of the Arsenal ones are 5.0 - Koscielny, Monreal, Sokratis, Maitland-Niles and the young guy Mavropanos is 4.5. Potentially someone there could be worth having.

Taylor at Burnley at 4.5 Bednarek at 4.5. Someone from Watford/West Ham at 4.5, possibly Cathcart and Diop or maybe even Fredericks.

Sheffield U have a pleasant start. I'm seriously entertaining the idea of Kieron Freeman, if he stays fit. In the RWB, he should get goals and assists.

There isn't much of any interest in that price range other than maybe a Sheff Utd defender or someone transferring clubs.

Max Arrons at Norwich? Clean sheets will be an issue but picked up 6 assists and 2 goals in the championship.

I assume that Martin Kelly at 4.0m is Crystal Palace current first choice RB now AWB has gone. Guess we'll have to wait and see what they do with their £55m.

I’ve a 4.5m placeholder in my squad, as D4 right now, presently I’ve gone for Diop.

Claiming Maguire to MU is nearly in the bag and Lewis Dunk as target for a replacement. Watch this space, I guess.

Think you need to give it a few weeks to see who leaves the spurs back line. Toby and trippier out would make walker peters/Foyth interesting. To be honest the Tottenham back line is priced a bit harsh, with them all at 5.5. Should be more variation there imo.

I do think Tottenham will be better at the back this season though with more centre mid options. Was a bit chop and change last season with injuries which left it a bit vulnerable at the back.

I've used Lloris though personally.

Leicester have agreed a fee for Dunk (third most expensive CB of all time, apparently) and I think 4.5m, should be a guaranteed starter, looks perfect for a 4th/5th defender.

Other options were Diop or Adam Smith for me.

How the hell is Dunk worth £45 million 😱

At 4.5 million he has just ruined my 5 man premium defence as he has to be a set and forget at that price in Leicester team

Exactly the same, I've dropped him in place of Digne and will go with 4 premiums and he can be a good bench option that at the least you know will play while fit.

£45m though seems steep! English players still seem to be super-inflated in cost! No wonder foreign teams rarely go for English players with their massive premium!

Davide Zappacosta from Chelsea may end up being an option too if Cesar Azpilicueta is switched centrally.

It seems similar to the Andy Carrol isn't worth 35(?)m. Newcastle knew Liverpool were getting 50(?)m for Torres and dug in for silly cash.

Then the equation was Carroll plus 15m for Torred, now it is Dunk plus 30ish million for Maguire. Both of which are no brainers imho but Torres and Maguire are stupid prices, along with 50m for W-B.

I disagree on AWB, he is 21 and already looks class.
£5 million per season for the next 10 years is a bargain (not biased man utd fan) 🤣

VVD looks like a bargain for that £75 million now and id rather us gone for De Ligt for £80 million than Maguire as again he is another who only 21 and looks world class potential

The one thing that scares me about Dunk is that he has an own goal in him!

Scored 4 the season before last, but kind of had redemption last season with none (and 2G, 1A). But when I think "Dunk", I think "own goal"

Yes the price is right and i thought he was bought in 2014 and loaned back to Hull.
They got a bargain there as he is class act

Yeah I think Ward may be ahead in the pecking order.

Gonna get a few people revisiting this thought process more now with developments on Trippier dictating.

According to the spurs forum there not keen on KWP at all and talk of foyth covering Aurier in that position instead, if they dont reinvest

Here's hoping that they don't re-invest then! A 5.0 spurs fullback, certainly at the start of the season when rotation might be less, could be extremely useful as an alternative to a 6.0 - 6.5 3rd/4th defender :?

Foyth has been linked with that spot too, and being suspended for the start of the season will cloud the issue for a lil while.

I thought spurs made aurier available for transfer? which suggests foyth will be rb unless spurs sign anyone to play there.

I'm going to say WHU's Ryan Fredericks (4.5), in my team again at least.
