Ahh ok - I didn't make the (obvious) connection, I see The Bear now in various FISO leagues .... that I'm also in  - just not in the main one (which threw me). Well done guys!

I guess if the Head Mod is joining in then I'm happy to let it go .... but don't make a habit of it :D

It may or may not be of interest that the league currently leading the League of Leagues has 24 teams in the top 100, but only 6 managers contributing to those 24 (5 is all that is required). Most annoyed that ronny10 isn't in our league (might have to have words!).

I'm sure that Jamie has a FISO log in, might be 'Baby Bear' but could be wrong :D

Week 28 – (another) Aguero hat-trick
Wolves & Brighton started an extended TFF week with F.A. Cup replays, both managed to progress after a bit of a struggle and both scored 3 goals. Man City also had a re-arranged game due to their involvement in the League Cup final in 2 weeks – they beat Everton 2-0, which took them to the top of the table (having played one more game than Liverpool). These 3 games no doubt contributed to some pretty amazing scoring this week .... more on that later.

Liverpool went back to the top on Saturday with a 3-0 v. Bournemouth, Mane scored the opener and has now scored in four successive Premier League games for the first time. City had the chance to go back to the top when they played Chelsea at the Etihad on Sunday – they were 4-0 up after 25 minutes and went on to win 6-0. Looking back at the corresponding week (28) last season, I see I wrote .... Antonio Conte isn't having a good time of things at the moment so he needed a result at Watford. Unfortunately, Bakayoko saw red and Watford won 4-1, probably time to get the CV updated Antonio. .... I think the days of ‘Sarri-ball’ are numbered.
Sergio Aguero is now level with Alan Shearer as the record hat-trick-scorer in Premier League history, with 11 (eleven). Dixie Dean got 37 in his career .... did they have defenders in those days!?

Another manager in a spot of bother at the moment is the Everton boss, they lost 1-0 at Watford and have lost 4 of their last 5, Zouma managed to get 2 yellow cards in that game – both after the final whistle  I think I see part of Everton’s problem .... only two teams in Premier League history have conceded more from set pieces than Marco Silva's Everton .... his Hull team and his Watford team!

Son Heung-Min scored in his 3rd consecutive match as Spurs beat Leicester 3-1, Vardy scored but also missed a penalty with his first touch after coming on as a sub.
Man United continued their unbeaten run with a 3-0 win at Fulham, 2 more goals for Pogba there. Arsenal won 2-1 at Huddersfield and move above Chelsea into 5th.

At the bottom, Fulham’s loss means they have joined Huddersfield in the ‘probably down’ category, they are now 8 points from safety. Southampton are in 18th (with 24 points) after losing at home to Cardiff, but they are just 3 points behind Palace in 13th - so the final relegation place is far from being sorted.

18 players made double figures this week, partly due to the extra games .... 6 of the top 7 were Man City players, Aguero & Laporte were joint top with 19 points each. The final member of the top 7 was Wolves super-enabler Matt Doherty – he is the 6th-highest scoring defender in the game this season and has an impressive pts/£m of 42.1. Sterling’s 16 points this week means he is now 12 ahead of Salah at the top.

Now to the scores that matter – and an impressive set of scores they are....

Lead position up 102 to 1,659 points - averaging 59.3 .... ENABLE (David Parker)
100th up 93 to 1,567
1k up 87
10k up 81

I had to double check David Parker’s score as he went from 10th to 1st this week with a score of 135 .... but there he is .... 71st in the Manager of the Week table .... great effort.

1) .... 1,659 .... David Parker .......... ENABLE
2) .... 1,650 .... David Burch ........... Apostis
3) .... 1,634 .... Mark Place ............. Ron's rover return a
4) .... 1,632 .... Tim Buss ................ Starfire
5) .... 1,632 .... Jamie Baer .............. Law 8
6) .... 1,631 .... Bruce Baer .............. Jennica Lynn
7) .... 1,631 .... Jamie Baer .............. Law 1
8) .... 1,626 .... Andrew Luckhurst ...1
9) .... 1,626 .... Andrew Jones ......... Devilsweep 28
10) .. 1,625 .... David Browne ......... Striker's Centurions

....and all of a sudden, last years scores don't seem so impressive after all :) .... F.A. Cup next week .... do you have anyone playing?

Week 29 - F.A. Cup 5th round
There were only six matches this week which featured Premier League teams so I figured it was actually just easier to show you the results & scorers ....

QPR 0-1 Watford (Capoue)
Brighton 2-1 Derby (Knockaert, Locadia)
Newport 1-4 Man City (Sane, Foden 2, Mahrez)
Bristol City 0-1 Wolves (Cavaleiro)
Doncaster 0-2 Palace (Schlupp, Meyer)
Chelsea 0-2 Man United (Herrera, Pogba)

There were no upsets, which means that the maximum of 6 Premier League teams (that could progress) went through to the quarter-finals with just Chelsea dropping out. Sarri's reign is not going well, but he has a chance to win some silverware next week when Chelsea play Man City in the League Cup final.

Six players managed to get to double figures this week. joint top on 12 points were Schlupp & Foden. None of the top 5 most-owned players, nor any of the top 5 highest-scoring players, played this week.
A Wolves/Palace defence with Pogba & Sane in midfield will have returned a decent score - unsurprisingly Phil Foden has an ownership of 0%.

So just the 12 goals scored this week by TFF players, and whilst there were 4 clean sheets (which isn't too bad) the scores were understandably low....

Leader up 32 to 1,691 points - averaging 58.3 .... ENABLE (David Parker)
100th up 34 to 1,601
1k up 30
10k up 25

One that caught my eye in the top 10 this week was previous winner Adrian Frost who must have had a good week coming from out of the top 10 into 3rd spot ....

1) .... 1,691 .... David Parker ..... ENABLE
2) .... 1,677 .... Mark Place ........ Ron's rover return a
3) .... 1,676 .... Adrian Frost ...... Live mix
4) .... 1,673 .... Andrew Jones .... Devilsweep 28
5) .... 1,672 .... David Burch ....... Apostis
6) .... 1,669 .... Jamie Baer ......... Law 1
7) .... 1,668 .... Jamie Baer ......... Law 8
8) .... 1,667 .... Mark Lemmer .... Lem's 1
9) .... 1,663 .... Bruce Baer ......... Jennica Lynn
10) .. 1,661 .... Bruce Baer ......... Rachel Aldana

You can see from the graph that last season the 5th round was a week later - hence the corresponding flat spot.
I've included Dead Parrot's winning score line again this week, from 2016/17 .... to show us all the way :)

Week 30 - Deulofeu hat-trick
There were two big away wins this week - Palace won 4-1 at Leicester and Watford won 5-1 at Cardiff. Deulofeu scored Watford's first ever top-flight hat-trick and also got a KC (Deeney scored 2) .... Claude Puel got the boot from Leicester after their defeat, a game in which Zaha scored 2 and Roy Hodgson became the oldest man to manage in the Premier League at 71 years and 198 days.

The big game at the top of the table was Man United v Liverpool which ended 0-0. United had to use all 3 subs before half-time due to injuries  That draw was Liverpool's 3rd in 4 league games and their lead at the top of the table is now down to 1 point.
Spurs missed their chance to close the gap on Liverpool as they were beaten 2-1 at Turf Moor. Burnley have got more points from their last 8 Premier League games (W5 D3), than they did in their previous 24 .... good form! Mauricio Pochettino and referee Mike Dean had a little tête-à-tête after the final whistle which may see the manager in a spot of bother.
Arsenal jumped back up to 4th place with a 2-0 win at Southampton.

There were 3 penalties awarded in the Bournemouth v Wolves 1-1 draw. Jimenez scored his, King scored one and missed one. Newcastle beat Huddersfield 2-0 to keep them rooted to the bottom and Fulham lost 3-1 at West Ham - Javier HernHANDez on the scoresheet there

Man City & Chelsea were both absent as they were contesting the League Cup final. No TFF points on offer for this game but worth a mention as there was a rather curious incident in the last few minutes of extra-time when Sarri tried to substitute Kepa (who had been suffering cramp) and bring on Willy Caballero (who saved 3 pens in the shoot-out 3 years ago) .... but Kepa was having none of it and stayed put  very strange .... City won the shoot-out.

8 players made it into double figures this week with Deulofeu top-scoring with 20 .... that's 2 weeks in a row where the top player has had 0% ownership. Troy Deeney was in 2nd spot with 15.

Only 8 games this week and despite the Liverpool, Arsenal & Man United clean sheets the scores were again low - no doubt Chelsea & Man City (plus Brighton & Everton) being absent had a big impact....

Leader up 22 to 1,713 points - averaging 57.1 .... ENABLE (David Parker)
100th up 28 to 1,629
1k up 30 (1,548)
10k up 28 (1,435)

1) .... 1,713 .... David Parker ....... ENABLE
2) .... 1,710 .... Adrian Frost ........ Live mix
3) .... 1,701 .... Mark Place .......... Ron's rover return a
4) .... 1,701 .... Mark Lemmer ...... Lem's 1
5) .... 1,698 .... Jamie Baer ........... Law 1
6) .... 1,697 .... David Browne ...... Striker's Centurions
7) .... 1,694 .... Bruce Baer ........... Jennica Lynn
8) .... 1,691 .... Andrew Garment ..Team AG9

Week 31 - The Liverpool defence
With their 5-0 thrashing of Watford, Liverpool kept themselves at the top of the table and improved their goal-difference, which or may not be important come the end of the season. Their defence also shook up the TFF leaderbaords as VVD scored twice, TAA supplied 3 KCs and Robertson 2 KCs for a combined total of 46 .... poor Saido Mane scored twice and was only the 4th-highest points-scorer for the reds  The Watford defence must have been concentrating on keeping Mo Salah quiet - he wasn't involved in any of the 5 goals :!:

Man City kept pace with Liverpool with a 1-0 win (Aguero pen) v West Ham, but Spurs slipped to their 2nd defeat in 4 days, losing 2-0 at a resurgent Chelsea .... Kepa sent to the naughty bench in that game & Willy Caballero helped himself to a clean sheet and a KC .... maybe Sarri can turn things round after all? Spurs are now 9 points behind Liverpool and could be out of contention. Their next game is home to Arsenal who could move to within a point of their rivals should they win the derby. The Gunners beat Bournemouth 5-1 this week with Mkhitaryan and Ozil heavily involved.

At the bottom of the table there were several big games. Huddersfield ended their 14-game winless run with a 91st minute 1-0 win v Wolves which broke many a TFF managers heart - mine included  Newcastle beat Burnley 2-0 to swap places with them just outside the relegation zone and, Southampton won a real relegation 6-pointer and moved out of the bottom 3 and left Fulham 10 points from safety with a 2-0 win at St Mary's. Everton won 3-0 at Cardiff which means the Welsh Wizards drop back into the bottom 3.

Lukaku scored twice for Man Utd in a 3-1 win at Palace, that's the 20th time these two teams have met in the Premier League and Palace have yet to win one :?

A mention too for Leicester, they beat Brighton 2-1 under the stewardship of new manager Brendan Rodgers.

13 players made it into double figures this week with VVD top on 17 and TAA just 1 point behind. Sterling remains top of the overall table with 174 points and Robertson has overtaken Salah into 2nd spot with 169.

Reasonably good points for our tracked positions this week although I'm sure there were many Liverpool blocks that did even better .... like our new leader (who scored 59). Welcome back to the top of the leaderboard, the 2010/11 winner ....

Lead position up 56 to 1,769 points - averaging 57.1 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)

Week 32 - Lukaku double-double
This was the 2nd half of the TFF week with the last set being a midweek fixture list. Romelu Lukaku scored twice in both games, this 'week' it was to help United come from behind to beat Southampton 3-2 at Old Trafford. These 4 goals have moved Lukaku into the top 20 'all-time' Premier League goal scorers, overtaking Dion Dublin & Emile Heskey to draw level in 19th place with Ian Wright on 113 goals (Wright took 213 games at 0.53 per game, Lukaku took 246 at 0.46 per game).
There are only 2 other players in the top 20 still active in the Premier League .... Kane in 16th (124 from 178) and Aguero in 8th (161 from 231) .... both scoring at 0.7 per game .... obviously there was football before the Premier League began in 1992, but that's a whole other story.

The other main news is that for the first time since 7th December, with the same number of matches played, Man City are back to the top of the table. They won 1-0 at Bournemouth (Mahrez), a game in which City had 82% possession and Bournemouth had no shots (at all) and no corners  Liverpool drew 0-0 at Everton. The reds are having a bit of a bad spell in the league since the New Year (P9, W4, D4, L1). I looked back at Week 32 of last season (page 7) which said ....

Salah scored again for Liverpool in a 2-0 win, that's 12 in 12 for Mo and 6 consecutive Premier League matches he's scored in - impressive.

.... Liverpool need their talisman back in that kind of form - he's currently down in 57th spot in the TFF form guide

Spurs v Arsenal ended 1-1 with Kane on the scoresheet and Chelsea won 2-1 at Fulham, who have sacked their manager Claudio Ranieri

At the bottom, Huddersfield lost 1-0 at Brighton (Andone) and Palace won 3-1 at Burnley .... the rest of the bottom 10 all lost. That leaves Huddersfield and Fulham still looking doomed on 14 & 17 points respectively, the last relegation spot will probably be filled by Cardiff (25 pts); Southampton (27); Burnley & Brighton (30) or Newcastle (31). With 9 games left to play Palace, Bournemouth & Leicester are probably safe .... probably :?

As it was a double TFF game week it's not easy to say which players scored what in this set of fixtures but Lukaku will be 'up there' with his 11 points.

Similar scores to last week ....
Leader up 54 to 1,823 points - averaging 57.0 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 49 to 1,728
1k up 46 (1,645)
10k up 41 (1,527)

The top 10 didn't show any major changes, the chasing pack shuffled a bit behind the leader and we have one new entry. Liverpool clean sheets will be the making or breaking of most of them I'm sure ....

1) .... 1,823 .... Adrian Frost ........ Live mix
2) .... 1,811 .... David Parker ....... ENABLE
3) .... 1,798 .... David Browne ...... Striker's Centurions
4) .... 1,797 .... Andrew Clayton ....Radius
5) .... 1,794 .... Mark Lemmer ...... Lem's 1
6) .... 1,788 .... Mark Place .......... Ron's rover return a
7) .... 1,788 .... Bryan O'Rourke ....Willy Pettigrew
8) .... 1,785 .... Aaron Jannoun .....0 transfers left
9) .... 1,781 .... Bruce Baer ........... Jennica Lynn
10) .. 1,780 .... Jamie Baer ........... Law 1

Week 32A - a bonus edition .... that whole other story
Lukaku's entry into the top 20 of the Premier League all-time scorers caused me to revisit the records including the time before 1992 and the full list of the overall top (league) scorers.

Here's a list of the English top-flight's leading league goal scorers with 200+ goals - no cups, just league games - 1st Division + Premier League.

Week 33 - Sterling hat-trick
Man City kept up the pace at the top of the table, Sterling's hat-trick enough to beat Watford 3-1 at the (VAR-less) Etihad
Liverpool played on the Sunday and came from behind to beat Burnley 4-2 at Anfield, a brace each for Firmino & Mane in that game.
Spurs' domestic season continued it's implosion with a 2-1 defeat at Southampton ... a huge win for the Saints as it kept them out of the bottom 3. Chelsea drew 1-1 at home with Wolves, who managed to keep a clean sheet until the 92nd minute .... TFF can be a cruel mistress.
Arsenal beat Man United (2-0) to move above them into 4th place - a point behind Spurs in 3rd. Both North London clubs have a couple of weeks off now as it's the FA Cup QF next weekend, and then an infernal international break

Everton are a team I'm conscious I haven't mentioned often this season - mainly because they're usually in around 10th-12th spot with nothing much going on. This week they went to Newcastle and were 2-0 up at H-T, after Ritchie managed to scuff his penalty straight at Pickford. Newcastle came back to win 3-2 at (VAR-less) St. James' Park with a brace for Perez in the final 10 minutes.

At the bottom of the table, Huddersfield lost 2-0 at home to Bournemouth - to a Dad's Army double (Wilson, Fraser), and Fulham lost 3-1 at Leicester - two for Vardy in that game. Those bottom two are looking beyond hope - especially as Southampton, Brighton (2-1 at Palace) and Cardiff (2-0 v WHU) all won. Burnley's loss at Anfield leaves them just 2 points above the bottom 3.

Nine players got into double figures this week .... 2 of them from Cardiff (Hoilett & Camarasa) and 2 from Newcastle (Rondon & Perez). Raheem Sterling topped the week with his 17 points and remains top of the season-long table. He's now just one good game away from breaking the 200 mark. He is on 193, Robertson 2nd on 176, Salah 3rd on 172 and then Aguero on 169.

With only 3 clean sheets this week (Arsenal, Bournemouth & Cardiff) and not many of the usual suspects getting amongst the points, the scores were only fair-to-middling.

Leader up 48 to 1,871 points - averaging 56.7 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 48 to 1,776
1k up 45 (1,690)
10k up 43 (1,570)

1) .... 1,871 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 1,855 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 1,846 .... Bryan O'Rourke ....... Willy Pettigrew
4) .... 1,840 .... David Browne .......... Striker's Centurions
5) .... 1,840 .... Andrew Clayton ...... Radius
6) .... 1,839 .... Mark Place .............. Ron's rover return a
7) .... 1,839 .... Mark Lemmer .......... Lem's 1
8) .... 1,832 .... Stephen Wickstead .. Wickers Wanderers
9) .... 1,830 .... Stephen Buckley ...... Liver Birds A LBA
10) .. 1,830 .... Bruce Baer ............... Jennica Lynn

There's not much happening on the graph, the last 3 weeks have been almost a straight line in each of our tracked positions and all 4 are falling behind the grey lines which show last seasons scores. FA Cup QFs next weekend followed by an international break for European Qualifiers .... so the usual outbreak of friendly-itis is not anticipated, but you never know.

Week 34 - FA Cup quarter finals
North London had the weekend off this week, along with Southampton & Cardiff, due to the FA Cup.

In the cup .... Wolves beat Man United 2-1 .... and of course they lost their clean sheet after the 90th minute .... it's the hope that kills you :| Another goal for Jimenez in that game - more on him later. Man City came from 2-0 down to escape from (VAR-less) Swansea with a 3-2 victory .... by hook or by crook, and from what I've been reading on-line today many people think it was mainly the latter. Bernardo Silva top-scored with 10 points for a goal and a KC - Aguero would have scored almost as well but whilst he did likewise he also had one of those missed penalties that hit the post and went in off the keeper, Swansea were unlucky.
Another team that were 2-0 up in the cup - but this time with only 2 minutes left to play - were Millwall. The Millwall 'keeper waved a Solly March cross-come-shot into the top corner for the equaliser, he will have nightmares about that for some time I'm sure. Brighton won in the penalty shoot-out.
Deulofeu starred in the Watford win over Palace but it was Capoue & Gray who got the points.

In the Premier League - Liverpool needed a Milner penalty to secure the 3 points at Fulham - they go back to the top. Mane was on the scoresheet again, that's 9 in 9 in the league for him..... Salah got 2 points again.
Chelsea lost 2-0 at Everton, a result which pleased the Evertonian crowd - although they must be a forgetful lot at Goodison because they kept asking Ross Barkley what the score was... :) Richarlison and Sigurdsson (the rebound from his own penalty) with the goals.
West Ham won a 7-goal thriller at home to Huddersfield - Hernandez came off the bench and scored the last 2 goals for a 4-3 win. An honourable mention in defeat for Karlan Grant, the young striker scored 2 for Huddersfield and moved from 10 TFF points to 22 (in 6 appearances)
Leicester battled hard to get an unlikely 2-1 win at Turf Moor - it wasn't unlikely before kick off but it was 4 minutes into the game when Harry Maguire was sent off. Maddison again in the points there.
Bournemouth drew 2-2 with Newcastle .... Josh King was joint top-scorer for the week with his 2 goals for the Cherries.

Only 5 players made it into double figures this week and I've given them all a mention above. Sterling still leads the way overall (194) despite only getting the 1 point this week. Jimenez scored again for Wolves and with that goal he moved above Hazard, Aubameyang & VVD - up into the top 5 .... he's having a great season.

With only Everton getting a clean sheet this week, and 4 teams without a game, the scores were lower than average ....

Leader up 39 to 1,910 points - averaging 56.2 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 35 to 1,811
1k up 36 (1,726)
10k up 34 (1,604)

1) .... 1,910 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 1,894 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 1,889 .... Mark Lemmer .......... Lem's 1
4) .... 1,877 .... Bryan O'Rourke ....... Willy Pettigrew
5) .... 1,876 .... Andrew Clayton ...... Radius
6) .... 1,870 .... Mark Place .............. Ron's rover return a
7) .... 1,869 .... Stephen Buckley ...... Liver Birds A LBA
8) .... 1,869 .... David Browne .......... Striker's Centurions
9) .... 1,869 .... Stephen Wickstead .. Wickers Wanderers
10) .. 1,866 .... Tim Buss ................. Starfire

Week 34 last season was also FA Cup QF day so we are now aligned as far as points are concerned .... and we are slipping behind again. Looking back at last years Week 34, when Salah scored 25 points (4 goals & a KC), I think we can see one of the reasons why.

There now follows an international break  .... but I'll have something for you next weekend to fill the TFF void

The graph has been opened up now and we can see the finish line.

International break - a distraction
Here's a a little something to fill the TFF void whilst the internationals are on.

Lat season, in total, we had 7 different managers and 8 different teams who were at the top of the leaderboard after each 'week' .... not to labour the point but a 'week' in my case is each set of 10 games or an FA Cup weekend - TFF work their's out differently (at times).
This season we have already had 12 teams and 10 different managers ....

Week 35 - Huddersfield relegated
The Terriers joined Derby County and Ipswich Town as the record-holders for the fastest relegation (6 games remaining) when they lost 2-0 at Palace, and Burnley & Southampton both won. Another team that lost 2-0 (there were 6 games that ended 2-0 this week) were Fulham who lost at home to Man City and they will be joining Huddersfield in the Championship next season barring an unlikely set of results. Huddersfield (with 18) have scored 10 fewer goals than any other team so far this season and Fulham have conceded 13 more than any other team (72) .... two different reasons - same outcome.

The team who will be joining those two in relegation is far from obvious but Cardiff are next in line after losing 2-1 at home to Chelsea in a game that proves that VAR can't be introduced quickly enough, and also that life is just not fair. Next up for Neil Warnock's men .... a trip to the Etihad.

At the top of the table Man City's win took them to the top for a day before Liverpool leap-frogged back to the top with a last-minute Alderweireld o.g. for a 2-1 win over Spurs at Anfield .... Hugo Lloris with another clanger there.
Arsenal rounded off the week with a regulation 2-0 win over Newcastle and they moved above Spurs and Man Utd into 3rd place.

Leader up 37 to 1,947 points - averaging 55.6 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost) for the 5th consecutive week
100th up 43 to 1,854
1k up 42 (1,768)
10k up 42 (1,646)

Nine players managed a double figure score this week, joint top-scorers with 12 points were PVA, Kurt Zouma & Wes Morgan .... good luck to those of you who have those 3 in your defence. The following people probably don't ....

1) .... 1,947 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 1,940 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 1,935 .... Andrew Clayton ...... Radius
4) .... 1,926 .... Mark Lemmer .......... Lem's 1
5) .... 1,925 .... Bryan O'Rourke ....... Willy Pettigrew
6) .... 1,916 .... Stephen Wickstead .. Wickers Wanderers
7) .... 1,914 .... David Browne .......... Striker's Centurions
8) .... 1,910 .... Brian Murnaghan ..... Captain Cuttle
9) .... 1,909 .... Bruce Baer ............... Jennica Lynn
10) .. 1,909 .... Aaron Jannoun ........ 0 transfers left

Another low-scoring week means we slip further behind the curve .... 3 re-arranged games and the FA Cup semi-finals next week may help.

Week 36 – Fulham relegated
A full week this week with 3 rearranged fixtures and the FA Cup semi-finals which saw Man City edge Brighton out in a rather dull 1-0 win and Watford win a cracker (3-2 a.e.t.) against Wolves, who were 2-0 up with 11 minutes to play. Deulofeu came on as a sub after 66 minutes and scored a wonderful goal, won a penalty (which Deeney scored) and then grabbed the winner in extra time .... outstanding!

Apart from breaking Wolves fan’s hearts, Watford were also responsible for administering the coup de grâce to hapless Fulham (4-1) who join Huddersfield back in the Championship next season. Cardiff lost (0-2) at the Etihad and are looking favourites to join them, they are 5 points behind Brighton & Southampton and have to play Liverpool & Man United in their final 6 games. :?

Wolves also had an extra game, they defeated Man United in the league (2-1). Arsenal lost (1-0) at Everton – these 2 results meant that Chelsea & Spurs have moved into 3rd & 4th respectively. Chelsea played twice this week, last season in Week 36 I wrote .... Chelsea blew their slim chances of making the top 4 when they drew at home to West Ham .... there were no such problems this time around as Hazard crowned a great TFF week for himself (25 points) with a potential goal of the season in their 2-0 win – they also beat Brighton 3-0. Spurs finally moved into their new gaff, a 62,062-capacity stadium which looks very nice from what little I've seen, the 2 main points though surely are that they are undefeated there (beat Palace 2-0) and that it also apparently has a 65-metre bar running the entire length of the goal line which will be the longest bar in Europe!

Liverpool kept up with Man City (or is it the other way around) with a 3-1 win at Southampton, another great goal, in a week in which there were several, this time from Mo Salah. Liverpool have Chelsea up next but if they get through that the pressure looks like it will be squarely on Man City who, on paper at least, have the tougher run-in .... but we all know what happens when you start counting ‘bankers’!

... Man City ................ Liverpool
Palace (a) ................ Chelsea (h)
Spurs (h) ................. Cardiff (a)
Man United (a) ........ Huddersfield (h)
Burnley (a) .............. Newcastle (a)
Leicester (h) ............ Wolves (h)
Brighton (a)

A special mention this week for the walking headline that is Mike Dean – he sent off Ashley Young (always a good thing) to become the first referee in the Premier League to show 100 red cards .... the next ‘best’ is only 67. Great work Mike  .... although to be fair to him ..... no, let's not.

There were 26 players who made a double figure score this week thanks to the extra games - Hazard top-scored with 25, with Laporte next-best with 17.
Sterling is still top overall but still a couple shy of the 200 mark, Hazard is now up to 2nd, 9 points behind.

Big scores this week, extra games, Hazard's 25 pts and a double clean sheet for both Chelsea & Man City will have helped ....
Leader up 96 to 2,043 points - averaging 56.8 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 86 to 1,940
1k up 80 (1,848)
10k up 69 (1,715)

The leader remains the same but the pack has shuffled a bit in behind with a couple of big movers ....

1) .... 2,043 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 2,034 .... Andrew Luckhurst ....29
3) .... 2,032 .... Jamie Baer .............. Law 1
4) .... 2,030 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
5) .... 2,029 .... Andrew Clayton ...... Radius
6) .... 2,025 .... Bruce Baer ............... Jennica Lynn
7) .... 2,021 .... David Burch ............ Apostis
8) .... 2,015 .... Andrew Garment .....Team AG9
9) .... 2,014 .... Jamie Baer ...............Law 8
10) .. 2,006 .... Graham Dolan ........ Green clouds invent

.... and all of a sudden we're back on track :)

Week 37 – Moura hat-trick
At the top of the table a Sterling brace helped Man City win 3-1 at Palace to regain top spot for a couple of hours .... until Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield to leapfrog back to the top. One of the talking points from that game (which VAR won’t be able to help with next season) is whether or not Salah should have been awarded a KC for the Mane goal .... in the world of TFF, just as in the Premier League, every point counts.

The race for the other European places is as close as the battle for the top spot. Pogba scored 2 penalties in a 2-1 win over West Ham to mean United move to within a point of Chelsea with a game in hand. Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Watford meant that they moved ahead of Chelsea on goal difference and a point behind Spurs, who beat Huddersfield 4-0 thanks to Lucas Moura’s hat-trick. Spurs are on a bit of a roll at the moment, their next 2 matches are both away at the Etihad .... they could easily blow a sizeable hole in City’s season - even without Harry Kane.

At the bottom, Cardiff’s 2-0 loss at Turf Moor (Wood with a brace) means they are in serious trouble, 5 points behind Brighton with just 5 to play – mind you, the Seagulls were beaten 5-0 at home by Bournemouth this week so they won’t be feeling too safe. Newcastle won 1-0 at Leicester and Southampton beat Wolves 3-1 to mean that they are both now probably safe.

Moura’s 17 points this week was the top TFF score, 12 players made it into double figures with 3 of them from Bournemouth.
Raheem Sterling’s double means he is still top of the pile and he’s cracked the 200 mark (210). Salah, Robertson and Hazard are in the 190s.

So – to the TFF leaders, Adrian Frost hung on at the top, although he was headed at one point during the week. Only 12 points between 1st and 5th, and it will no doubt still all be up for grabs when we get to the FA Cup Final .... as a great man once said, it’s squeaky-bum time .... injuries, red cards, transfers, squad rotation, European results .... all in a day’s work for our top 10

Leader up 42 (2,085)
100th up 48 (1,988)
1k up 51 (1,899)
10k up 52 (1,767)

Week 38 – Ayoze Perez hat-trick

With 3 or 4 league games left there are still 3 battles being fought .... for the title, European places and the final relegation spot.

First of all (for future reference), a quick mention of the non-TFF-points-scoring European adventures involving the Premier League teams, as it will probably have an effect on the way things unfold.
Spurs knocked Man City out of the Champions League in midweek – but City were the only casualties as the ‘English’ powered on. Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea & Arsenal have made the semi-finals (the latter 2 in the Europa League) and are all still involved in one of the aforementioned domestic battles.

Man City got a measure of revenge a few days after their defeat by beating Spurs 1-0 to go back to the top of the table .... until (you guessed it) Liverpool won at Cardiff the next day to regain top spot. Up next for City is the derby at Old Trafford – a game which used to strike fear into my heart, but that was before United turned into the sort of team which lost 4-0 this week at Everton .... yes fate, you heard me, consider yourself tempted!

The battle for next season’s European places took an interesting turn this week when the 4 teams involved all failed to win. Arsenal lost 3-2 at Palace and Chelsea drew at home with Burnley; only 3 points separate all 4 of them in the table.

At the bottom there was an interesting development – we had an extra (rearranged) game this week, in which Cardiff beat Brighton in the definite relegation 6-pointer. It’s now almost certain to be a straight fight between the two of them to see who goes down. Brighton are 3 points ahead and have 4 games remaining (to Cardiff’s three), but they have Spurs, Arsenal & Man City to play! Perez’s hat-trick saw Newcastle beat Southampton 3-1, the Saints are only 2 points ahead of Brighton but are probably safe .... possibly .... maybe.

Only 7 players made it into double figures this week .... one of them was Benteke :!:
Top-scorer was Ayoze Perez with 17 points which takes him up to a creditable 142 points for the season. He is the 10th best striker points-wise and is sandwiched between Lukaku and Vardy .... a good effort from the Newcastle man.
Sterling (211) is still the only player above 200 but Robertson, Salah, Hazard & Aguero are one good game away from joining him.

Another Liverpool clean sheet this week meant free points for everyone so the scores were above average .... probably.

Leader up 61 to 2,146 points - averaging 56.5 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 54 to 2,042
1k up 53 (1,952)
10k up 50 (1,817)

The next ‘week’ kicks off tomorrow with the first 2 of 4 rearranged games. There are only 4 more updates to go (from me) this season, have you switched off yet .... this lot haven’t ....

1) .... 2,146 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 2,144 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 2,132 .... Andrew Luckhurst .. 29
4) .... 2,126 .... Andrew Garment .....Team AG9
5) .... 2,126 .... Jamie Baer .............. Law 1
6) .... 2,123 .... Andrew Clayton ...... Radius
7) .... 2,120 .... Brian Murnaghan .... Captain Cuttle
8) .... 2,116 .... Graham Dolan ........ Green clouds invent
9) .... 2,114 .... Bryan O'Rourke ....... Willy Pettigrew
10) .. 2,107 .... Bruce Baer .............. Jennica Lynn

The tracked positions are reasonably close to last years - indeed, the team in 1,000th spot has the exact same score

.... oops yeah  , that wasn't a deliberate slight - just an honest oversight.

Amendment to the Week 38 post
Man United not only lost 4-0 to Everton but they also got knocked out of Europe by Barcelona 4-0 on aggregate.

Week 39 – 7.69 seconds
We had an extended week this time around, with 4 rearranged games, a fact which meant that lead at the top of the Premier League changed hands 3 times, instead of the usual two! First off, Man City won 2-0 at Old Trafford, then Liverpool smashed Huddersfield 5-0 (Naby Keita opened the scoring after 15 seconds) and then City won 1-0 at Burnley .... the Goal Decision System coming to the rescue – by 29.51mm  With 2 games left to play Liverpool are on 91 points, just one behind City and 21 points ahead of 3rd placed Spurs  No team has secured that many points before and not won the Premier League .... one of the two are going to be very unlucky.

Several records were broken this week, first of all we had Shane Long’s goal for Southampton v Watford which took just 7.69 seconds, beating Ledley King’s previous record of 9.82. In Man City’s 1-0 win at Turf Moor, Sergio Aguero became only the second player in Premier League history to score 20 or more goals in five consecutive campaigns (Thierry Henry 2001-02 to 2005-06).

Nobody seems to want to get a grip on European qualification below the top 2. For the 2nd week running the next 4 all failed to win  (although Spurs did also beat Brighton in a rearranged game). Chelsea drew 1-1 at Man United, Spurs lost their unbeaten home record in the new stadium to West Ham (1-0) and Arsenal lost 3-0 at Leicester. United are without a clean sheet in 12 consecutive matches in all competitions for the first time since August 1971!

At the bottom, Southampton & Brighton both earned points from draws and inched away from Cardiff who lost 1-0 at Fulham. Cardiff are now 4 points from safety with an inferior goal difference and everyone has 2 to play .... not looking good.

We had a bumper crop of double figures points scorers this week with 19 players scoring 10 or more, including 5 City & 5 Liverpool players. Kyle walker top-scored with 17.
Sterling is still top overall with 218 and has been joined in the 200 club by Salah, Robertson & Aguero.

With both Liverpool and Man City putting together a great run of results, including clean sheets for both in each of their last 3 games, TFF points have looked relatively easy to come by – they certainly were this week ....

Leader up 128 to 2,274 points - averaging 58.3 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 113 to 2,155
1k up 108 (2,060)
10k up 99 (1,916)

Our leader now has a 21 point gap to defend, and we have a couple of new entrants into the top 10....

1) .... 2,274 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 2,253 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 2,247 .... Andrew Luckhurst .. 29
4) .... 2,242 .... Andrew Garment .....Team AG9

8) .... 2,229 .... Liam Buckley .......... BabsBoys
9) .... 2,228 .... Graham Dolan ........ Green clouds invent
10) .. 2,227 .... Marie King .............. Horse 1

This bumper points week has blown a hole in the chart ....

Week 40 – Cardiff relegated

The battle for the title this year will go down to the last game of the season as our two intrepid leaders switched position at the top of the table again this week as two former Liverpool managers stood in their way.
First of all, Liverpool went to Newcastle where they won 3-2 and also became the first team in Premier League history to have at least two defenders provide 10+ assists each in a single campaign (TAA and Robertson). The final game of the week saw City win 1-0 at home to Leicester with a fantastic strike from distance by Kompany – that’s 31 times the lead has changed hands this season (a new record). City are at Brighton on the final day whilst Liverpool host Wolves; if City can notch up their 14th consecutive Premier League win then the title is theirs .... but nothing can be taken for granted on the final Sunday.

City will be pleased to hear that Brighton aren’t relying on a win next week to remain in the Premier League as Cardiff’s 3-2 loss at home to Palace means they join Huddersfield & Fulham in the Championship next season. None of the bottom 7 teams managed a win this week.

Another group of teams having difficulty winning (once again) were those battling over European football next season. Arsenal drew 1-1 at home with Brighton and Man United drew 1-1 at Huddersfield  If those two results weren’t bad enough – Spurs had Son & Foyth sent off in a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth! Chelsea took full advantage with a 3-0 victory over Watford to move up to 3rd and confirm Champions League football next season .... that Sarri bloke has done ok hasn’t he :) Spurs are not mathematically certain yet but are odds-on to finish 4th.

11 players broke into double figures this week with the top 5 (Luiz, Coleman, Arnautovic, Ake & Fredericks) all scoring 12 points.
Sterling still hangs on to top spot (212) with Salah just a point behind.

Good scoring again this week in all positions, and our leader enjoys his 10th week at the top.
Leader up 60 to 2,334 points - averaging 58.4 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 54 to 2,209
1k up 52 (2,112)
10k up 48 (1,964)

In the 6-week form table the top 3 are all Man City defenders, with TAA in 4th spot. The number of clean sheets by the top 2 has no doubt contributed to the fact that the top 9 managers in the TFF table have already beaten last year’s winning score of 2,283

Week 41 – Final league games

Man City are champions! They had an early scare at Brighton when Murray scored the opening goal but Aguero equalised within 2 minutes and City went on to win 4-1. Liverpool beat Wolves 2-0 to finish with the 3rd highest number of points ever achieved in English top-flight history - something I’m sure they would have settled for at the start of the season - unfortunately for them, City got the 2nd-highest to finish one point ahead.

Mane scored both goals at Anfield to draw level with Salah on 22 goals, a total also reached by Aubameyang when he also scored two in Arsenal’s 3-1 win at Burnley. The three of them shared the golden boot for this season (Aguero got 21). Liverpool’s ‘keeper Alisson kept another clean sheet and took the Golden Glove award with 21 clean sheets (Ederson 20). Another record was set by the mighty Liverpool defence this season – Trent Alexander-Arnold provided 12 assists which is a new record for a defender in the Premier League.

The ‘race’ for European places has been a bit of a car crash in the final run-in. In their final 5 league games (15 points possible) .... Chelsea got 6 points, Spurs & Arsenal 4 each and Man United 2 points! With 4 Premier League teams making it through to the 2 European finals this season (the first time one country has ever achieved this), the ‘if’s & ‘but’s around who will qualify for which tournament next season are too involved to cover here.

Man United lost 2-0 at home to Cardiff this week as their season ended with a whimper, Spurs drew 2-2 at home with Everton which was enough to secure 4th place & Chelsea drew 0-0 at Leicester .... the only 0-0 on the final day, which is traditionally something of a goal-fest .... Palace won 5-3 at home to Bournemouth .... that’s more like it!

15 players made it into double figures this week, TAA and Zaha top-scored with 13 points.
The season-long leader is still Sterling (222) .... one point ahead of Salah. With just the FA Cup final to come, the only player who can realistically catch Sterling now is Aguero (211).

Average scoring this week ....
Leader up 50 to 2,384 points - averaging 58.1 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost)
100th up 53 to 2,262
1k up 54 (2,166)
10k up 53 (2,017)

So far, 57 teams have beaten last year’s winning total of 2,283

With many TFF teams now presumably packed with Man City players, the FA Cup final may not be able to significantly change the places too much in our top 10, which is now looking like a shoot-out between the top 2 who are separated by just 7 points. Third place is 25 points behind which looks too far.... probably.

1) .... 2,384 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 2,377 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 2,359 .... Brian Murnaghan .... Captain Cuttle

Week 42 – F.A. Cup Final

Man City thrashed Watford 6-0 in the final to become the first (men’s) team to complete the domestic treble (sorry Pep, I’m not counting the Community Shield). Aguero was ‘rested’ for the final to give Jesus a run-out.

D. Silva (26), Jesus (38, 68), KDB (61), Sterling (81, 87) .... there’s not much more to say about the final except that it didn’t really have an effect in the world of TFF ....

Sterling’s brace, along with 2 KCs meant he was the top scorer for the week with 18 and he extended his lead as the overall points-scorer this season with 240, not even close to Salah’s 279 from last season but a great effort. Here are the top eleven for this season ....

Sterling ......... 240
Salah ............. 221
Robertson ......219
Aguero .......... 211
Hazard .......... 207
VVD .............. 207
Ederson ........ 203
Aubameyang . 202
Laporte ......... 199
Jimenez ........ 198
Mane ............ 197

The City team scored 97 TFF points in the final (Watford totalled -2  ) and most teams had a good few of them, especially our leaders ....

Leader up 54 to 2,438 points - averaging 58.0 .... Live mix (Adrian Frost) - Congratulations @Frosty Casino :D
100th up 46 to 2,308
1k up 45 (2,211)
10k up 40 (2,057)

1) .... 2,438 .... Adrian Frost ............ Live mix
2) .... 2,425 .... David Parker ........... ENABLE
3) .... 2,403 .... Andrew Luckhurst .. 29

6) .... 2,398 .... Marie King .............. Horse 1
7) .... 2,392 .... Marie King .............. Horse 2
8) .... 2,387 .... Andrew Luckhurst .. 1
9) .... 2,386 .... Mark Lemmer .......... Lem's 1
10) .. 2,378 .... Lee Fricker ............. Superman 10 t-ment v

The champion has already kindly provided a write-up on his winning teams progress throughout the year in the forum - quite straightforward really :)

I shall add a further post tomorrow with some more end-of-season stats but there's your main update :)

Around 210 teams beat last years winning score (2,283)

Season wrap-up

A quick word on the managerial merry-go-round this season. I wonder how many chairmen (or sets of fans) would like their time again with some of the following moves ....
Fulham ........... Slavisa Jokanovic .... Claudio Ranieri
Fulham .......... Claudio Ranieri ....... Scott Parker
Saints ............ Mark Hughes ......... Ralph Hasenhüttl
Man Utd ........ Jose Mourinho ........ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Huddersfield .. David Wagner ........ Jan Siewert
Leicester ....... Claude Puel ............ Brendan Rodgers
Brighton ....... Chris Hughton ........ Graham Potter (after final game)

Now that everything is finalised I can now concentrate on my Fantasy NRL team (Aussie Rugby League), I'm doing as 'average' in that as I did in TFF (again) this year .... my best team only just made it into the top 3k

But here are some people who did rather better ....
The top 100 was actually made up of only 54 individual managers ....

34 managers with just one team
9 had two teams in the top 100 (including Marie King with the 6th & 7th place finishers)
6 people had three teams
2 had four teams
Mark Chadwick had five teams in the top 100
Ed Jones went one better with six
and .... Andrew Luckhurst had eleven, including the 3rd & 8th place teams. Well done to all of you, especially Adrian Frost (@Frosty Casino) who was champion for the 2nd time, no doubt his Dad will be trying to add to his own win ( in 2015/16) to even things up .... what a TFF family!

Here is the list of weekly leaders - and once again, by 'week' I mean each set of 10 fixtures or an FA Cup weekend - it will differ slightly from TFF's week.

Wk .... Leading team(manager) ................... Total ...... Average
1 .... 6an5em (Mark Wylllie) ........................ 127 ....... 127.0

42 .. Live mix (Adrian Frost) ...................... 2,438 ...... 58.0

See you all in 3 months or so and no doubt we'll all be putting together our Man City/Liverpool combinations and hoping for the best .... although I rather expect there will be some eye-watering prices attached to both squads and maybe a tweak of the rules regarding clean sheets and/or KCs .... we shall see

Week 1 - Sterling hat-trick

Welcome back everyone. As usual, no graph for the first couple of weeks.

With wins of 5-0; 4-0 & 4-1, Man City, Man United & Liverpool top the table after week one. 3-0 wins for Brighton & Burnley mean they occupy 4th & 5th spots.

VAR was in full effect for the first time across all Premier League games .... there's a whole thread to be had talking about whether or not it's a good thing, but it worked.

I may require a little technical assistance if anyone can oblige. With so few people in the FISO super league it's difficult to find out the score of the person in 10,000th position .... I remember there used to be a way to interrogate the overall leaderboard by altering the URL - is that still possible?

Congratulations to our first leader ....
Leader on 119 pts .... Lyon gilf 5 (Kevin Cleary)
100th on 101

10k on 74

Week 2 - Pukki hat trick

I believe it was Edwin Starr who sang .... "VAR, what is it good for? .... absolutely nothing!" .... but that's just me being a disappointed City fan as we beat Spurs 3-2 with a late goal (again) only to see it 'un-written' by the unblinking eye of technology. I'm still a VAR fan but it's certainly changing the game.

In other news .... Liverpool won at Saints .... only Everton and Sheffield United got clean sheets and Teemu Pukki got a hat trick in Norwich's 3-1 win over Newcastle - and I've taken the bait and brought him in to the 3 of my (5) teams he wasn't already in.

Leader on 190 pts .... Jubbs XI (Julie Brian)
100th on 156
1k on 132 (ish)
10k on 116 (ish)
