Chernobyl - currently 2 episodes into a 5 episode series.

Best thing I’ve seen on tv this year. Typical HBO production values, great cast and script.

Terrifying what did and could have happened.

Yes, this has been really good so far. A frightening but fascinating story of what unfolded.

An interesting footnote is British actress Laura Elphinstone, who has appeared in this as well as Game of Thrones and Line of Duty in the last few weeks. She’s got a pretty good agent!

Didn't bother with Chernobyl as it looked more worthy than entertaining.

Is it "enjoyable"?

Well, in the sense of being gripping and fascinating, yes it is... even if obviously there’s some elements of “enjoyable” that you won’t be likely to find in a true disaster story.

Been watching Killing Eve Season 2 in Spain on catch up (not released in the UK yet) nearly through episode 6 but fell asleep so as flying back today will have to find another way to finish it. Still quirky and fun but not as good as S1.

If you're of a certain age, and I believe you may be sheepy, it'll affect you far more than those just watching without the historic perspective. Best thing I've seen on tele for many a month, gripping.

Agree. Nowhere near as compelling as S1, but watchable nonetheless.

Really enjoyed The Victim with Kelly Macdonald (who I still remember playing a young reporter in the 2003 Paul Abbott TV series State of Play) and the lead actor James Harkness, who I've not seen before but was superb. One of those performances where you forget he's acting and you feel as if you're watching someone in a documentary. Good twist at the end and a gripping denouement.

The Victim was ok. Characters a bit annoying at times.

Seen Ep1 of The Virtues. Great acting etc but all a bit dull. Will stick with it.

Currently on episode 7 of 10 of Undercover on Netflix. Watched 6 episodes in 2 nights. Really enjoying it so far; 2 undercover cops pose as a couple in a trailer/caravan park in Holland to try to get incriminating evidence against one of Europe’s biggest ecstasy drug lords. It’s in Dutch with English subtitles but I changed it on audio options so it’s in English. I’d easily give it 8.5/10.

Quicksand is next on the list. I also got the dvd box set of Swedish political drama “blue eyes” the other day as I watched an episode when it was on terrestrial TV a year or so back and it looked really good (but I missed 1st episode so waited for boxset).

Watched all the Madeleine McCann episodes last week which interesting albeit uncomfortable viewing.

3/4 of the way through it. I'm flitting between enjoying it and getting annoyed by it! Could certainly have been done in less episodes.

I initially gave up after episode 1 was quite slow. Then I realised I’d seen and enjoyed the first series with the lead role stealing some nurses identity so thought I’d persevere.

Not for this thread ....

Finished painfully the first series of the OA. I won’t be watching the second. It’s just plain silly. Especially when they do their crazy little dance ritual. The last episode was ridiculous. The whole concept was just rubbish really don’t know why I battled on tbh.

If you thought the first series was crazy, DEFINITELY stay away from the second.

Yep, goes against everything I normally watch... but strangely stuck with it through both seasons.

I agree, one of the best new tv series this year and have only heard positive reviews so far from many people. It depicts the Soviet mentality quite well too.

Currently watching:-

Chernobyl - 2 episodes in and gripping, shocking, brilliant

The Deuce - watched 5 so far. Enjoying it.

Sex Education - watching with Mrs HH got one episode to go, it’s actually quite funny and very watchable.

The triumvirate of great, historic TV programmes reaching a conclusion is done. After Game Of Thrones and The Durrells, we have now said a final goodbye to The Big Bang Theory. It used to be the funniest thing on TV but has definitely waned over the years, especially this last series, but the double episode finale was nearly back to its best with some very funny moments and lines. The end was a little cheesy but not as flawed as GoT.

Actually going to be 4 ending as I'm making my way through the final series of Mum. This has taken over as the 'funniest thing on TV' and is living up to it in this series so far.

On the flipside of living series dying, the excellent Gavin and Stacey is returning for a Christmas special. Why do I assume it will be awful?

So The Handmaids Tale returns for S3 on Sunday.

Just seen Black Mirror has returned with 3 episodes in S5.

Also Bad Blood has returned for S2.

Killing Eve S2 on Saturday - got 3 left to watch.

By the way:-

Finished Chernobyl last night - superb.

Started watching
WhatIf - not bad a modern indecent proposal I guess.
Easy - watched 2 of S1. On the fence.
And downloaded S2 of The Deuce.

Quicksand was pretty good. Tiny bit like The Sinner... an obvious open and shut case that is slowly challenged and revealed.

Decent enough watch (only 6 episodes).

I’m most of the way through Undercover. Really enjoying it. Stylistically like the Bridge (very different in terms of plot). Again, decent enough watch and not an overly ridiculous plot.

Ozark S2. Pretty good too. Slightly implausible plot lines, but if you could handle them in S1 it’s more of the same, so worth watching.

Yeah, really enjoyed that. Didn't think I would after the first episode, which wasn't so good, but it got better.

Oh gawd.... Handmaid's Tale. Think I'll give up on this. Was an interesting story but morphed into misery porn going nowhere.

Talking of misery porn.... wish I hadn't started The Virtues. All well acted but god is it dull and slow. Watched 3 of 4 so will have to finish. Could probably have editted it down to 2 episodes just by cutting out the clips of Stephen Graham walking everywhere looking moody.
