Format with customisable scoring systems

Post by 8ig8lue »

Fellow Fantasy Football Fans,

I need your help/advice.

I've been running a fantasy league game with friends for about 25 years. We hold an auction (so each player belongs to only one manager and all that) and run our own points system. The problem is, we're still manually filling out a spreadsheet like cavemen. I want to take it to the next level.

Two questions:

1) Do you know of a customisable fantasy league platform that already exists?

2) If not, I'm looking into doing it myself, but as it'll not be free, I want to (a) recoup the initial set-up costs and (b) cover the cost of the data-feed. Do you think there'd be a market for it or am I wasting my time/money?

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Big Blue

If you need Mins, Goals Scored, Assists, Goals conceded then you can rip this from FPL into Excel* and then apply your own points...

Fantsy stuff is collapsing into Monopoly land with smaller ones fading away, so I doubt there is much\any money to be made.

*not that I know how to do it

You would pay a small fortune to get the official OPTA data I think so best bet is to tweak available FPL or TFF data as suggested.

No money in FF at all since the free FPL become a monster. The 'youth of today' expect everything on t'interweb to be free. The only recent efforts at making cash from new games have been in weekly type games which are essentially a variation on gambling as much as FF (not my thing at all so I don't know how popular they are - certainly not caused much 'buzz' on FISO).

The complicated squad/auction league I am in just rips its player list and points straight from TFF to avoid that one hassle.

Fantrax is free to use and you can customise your league.

I am not sure about Auctions but if that is not possible on Fantrax, you can hold the auction, players making their bids by email to you, then manually enter the team players on Fantrax.

Last season I did an auction league in the above way, also using Google Sheets to list available players and entering succesful bids on the sheets each round. This worked really well.

If you want to use your own method, i will still be very interested in joining your Auction league.
