TFF chit chat 12th, 13th and 14th January
SATURDAY 12TH JANUARY
West Ham 12:30 Arsenal
Underneath the lovely London sky - a London derby, Mary Poppins! Saturday's early match sees West Ham against Arsenal. The Hammers briefly had Arnautovic back for them last weekend before he was taken off. Arsenal rested a lot of players for their comfortable Cup win but expect them to be back to full strength today.
Brighton 15:00 Liverpool
The first of the 3pm fixtures sees the Reds heading to the South Coast to take on the Seagulls at the Am Ex. Liverpool have hit a bumpy patch and come into this game off of the back of two straight defeats. Brighton are doing OK this season and could spring a surprise today.
Burnley 15:00 Fulham
Down in the basement we find a match between Burnley versus Fulham. I remember the days when Turf Moor was a mighty fortress, not any more, it is now merely a football stadium like any other. Fulham will be treating this game like the six-pointer it really is and will be concentrating solely on the league after their FA Cup defeat.
Cardiff 15:00 Huddersfield
Off to Cardiff next where at the Cardiff Stadium, the Welsh Wizards from Wales welcome a poor Uddersfield team to the Welsh capital. Cardiff's home form is what will keep them up this season and they should have nothing to fear from an Uddersfield team who find goals hard to come by.
Crystal Palace 15:00 Watford
Down at Selhurst Park, Watford are the visitors. Palace haven't been great this season but have somehow kept their head above the relegation mire. Zaha's form has been patchy to say the least. The Watford rollercoaster ran over the Cup dreams of little ol' Woking last weekend. Who knows how they will fair today.
Leicester 15:00 Southampton
Leicester v Southampton next. You would imagine the home team would be victorious today however Southampton probably still have a little bit of new manager bounce left in the tank so would be hoping to snatch a point or three today. Vardy has been ticking over slowly with goals this season.
Chelsea 17:30 Newcastle
Saturday's late match sees Newcastle travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. The Blues are still battling it out at the top end of the table whereas Newcastle are skirting the relegation zone. Who knows if Chelsea will play with a recognised striker today.
SUNDAY 13TH JANUARY
Everton 14:15 Bournemouth
Sunday's early game is at 14:15 and features Everton against Bournemouth. A real feast of football should be served up as it's the Toffees against the Cherries. Both teams are neck and neck on 27 points, only separated by goal difference, so it should be a close match.
Tottenham 16:30 Man Utd
Sunday's late match is probably the biggest game of the weekend with Spurs welcoming Man United to Wembley. Both teams have their sights set on a top 4 finish. OGS has worked miracles since he arrived at Utd, rumour has it that his assistant Mike Phelan brought Ethel the tea lady with him to shake up the back room staff. Harry keeps blowing doors off.
MONDAY 14TH JANUARY
Man City 20:00 Wolves
And finally, the Monday Night Fixture has high-scoring Manchester City up against plucky Wolverhampton Wanders at the Etihad. The Wolves lads must still be buzzing after last weekend's Cup victory against Llverpool. Man City have had a couple of easy Cup matches in the last week - down to Earth with a bump?
West Ham 12:30 Arsenal

Not worthy of the injuries thread this so will stick it here:

Marko Arnautovic has trained, is fully fit and has declared himself available for selection. Expect goals and fireworks against Arsenal. He is “in the mood” it is said.

Same here.
Aah, wait a min. If you choose one of the tabs you can get in that way. I went leagues then back to team.

Burnley 15:00 Fulham and Cardiff 15:00 Huddersfield are two huge games this weekend - if they're both home wins I can't see a way back for the bottom 2, even at this stage. The classic relegation-6-pointer.

Today's transfer dilemma is swapping Aubameyang out after the early game for a couple of Liverpool games, but do I go for Firmino or Mane - leaning to Firmino, any naysayers (almost certainly!)?

Because I can have their player at Brighton and home to Palace before returning to Aubameyang. Plenty of transfers left in the team, so got to use them sometime.Always Next Year wrote: ↑12 Jan 2019, 11:05Why would you transfer Liverpool, when they are out of the FA Cup?

I totally agree - have often thought it stupid considering the range they have. If you can have 532 for example then why not 541?buttonphobic wrote: ↑12 Jan 2019, 11:00Agreed

Re: TFF chit chat 12th, 13th and 14th January
Not sure that is the best 2 for 0 you'll see. Slight question marks over the form of Liverpool/Firmino/Mane. Nothing dreadful but they aren't totally flying so as to justify 2 transfers (without hindsight!).Canaryfan wrote: ↑12 Jan 2019, 11:19Because I can have their player at Brighton and home to Palace before returning to Aubameyang. Thought you'd be a bit more positive about the Reds Murf. I would ignore the Wolves game as it was such a different Liverpool team to usual, the game v Man City could have gone either way (apparently, I didn't see it) and the previous two games they scored 9. That's a run of form most teams would be happy with!

GOAL West Ham 1-0 Arsenal (48 mins)
The Hammers make the breakthrough and it's Declan Rice with his 1st #PL goal, teed up by Samir Nasri after the visitors fail to clear a corner

From BBC - A poor clearing header from Shkodran Mustafi is gathered by Felipe Anderson, whose ball in is cushioned into the path of Declan Rice by Samir Nasri.
Anyone seen this - to confirm if a second KC for Anderson ?

No Anderson KC. His cross was first headed out by Xhaka into the path of Nasri.

Re: TFF chit chat 12th, 13th and 14th January
Correct-
Liverpool make nine changes for this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Only Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri retain their places in the starting line-up from the team deployed against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup tie on Monday night.
Jordan Henderson is named in midfield at the Amex Stadium after recovering from a knock and Joel Matip is included among the substitutes, but Daniel Sturridge is absent from the matchday squad due to a virus.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Shaqiri, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
Subs: Mignolet, Milner, Keita, Moreno, Origi, Matip, Camacho.

Might wait for MC news and consider a few Agueros if fit for Aubameyang and Lukaku.

Trent injured in warm-up?
Brighton v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)
Worrying news Liverpool fans. Trent Alexander-Arnold has gone over his ankle in the warm-up and Jurgen Klopp has had a word with him. James Milner is staying out to warm-up longer and is being spoken to by the coaches. Looks like he's going to be starting at right-back.

EDIT - TAA does start. See how he goes. Only got him in my Liverpool block and that already needed to transfer out Lovren so luckily I didn't panic transfer him out.
