There is plenty of scope for 'bonus' points with this lot .... and plenty of chance to waste some transfers. This is where the season really kicks off

I can see Lukaku & Sanchez getting some game time v. Reading which could be profitable. Maybe Jesus & KDB (depends if he plays tomorrow or not) v. Rotherham...?

Who will do a 'Saido Berahino' this year?

For every Saido Berahino, there are twenty five duff transfers.

I’ve ignored the early rounds of cup games for the last few seasons and it’s served me very well.

If you are definitely doing an A to B transfer then no harm going via C if he gets a chance of doing a Rondon.

Generally aiming a transfer at a single game "haul" is for mugs. However in certain circumstances it may be justified. For example as long as A doesn't play before B in the immediate post Cup set of games, and the player brought in for the Cup plays before B in that set of games, the case for the en route transfer is significantly strengthened.

4th round draw (only the ties featuring TFF players)

6 Premier League teams are already out .... Bournemouth, Cardiff, Fulham, Huddersfield, Leicester & most notably Liverpool
Replays for - Newcastle & Southampton

Ties to be played the weekend of 26th/27th January ....

Accrington Stanley v Derby or Southampton
Arsenal v Man United
Brighton v West Brom
Chelsea v Sheff Wed or Luton
Crystal Palace v Spurs
Man City v Burnley
Millwall v Everton
Newcastle or Blackburn v Watford
Shrewsbury or Stoke v Wolves
Wimbledon v West Ham

There are 3 (potentially 4) all premier league ties with Arsenal v Man United being the headliner. Man City have a home draw again and Chelsea have another home game v. lower league opposition.

The absence of Liverpool will throw up some 2 for 0s and 3 for 1s etc when the dates are announced.

Note- the Premier League are continuing efforts to undermine the FA Cup by scheduling league fixtures in the midweek immediately after Round 4 (Tues/Weds 29/30) so don't expect strong teamsheets to maximise those flange opportunities :(

Makes things interesting down the line when a maximum of 9 Premiership teams will be in the last 16, and if West Brom and Millwall say were to step up ........

So - apart from Arsenal, Burnley, Newcastle & Spurs - who got knocked out in the all-premier league matches .... we also lost Everton and West Ham, who both lost to lower league opposition. That leaves just 7 Premier League sides still in the bag for tomorrows 5th round draw ....

Chelsea
Crystal Palace
Man City
Man United
Watford

Wolves or Shrewsbury
West Brom or Brighton

I know what you're saying and many will agree with you but I love the added layer the FA Cup brings to the game, especially with regards to transfer usage ... tortoise v Hare etc.

I agree. I’d rather have a weekend of some fantasy football than none at all. Also differentiates TFF from FPL and Sky.

Keep the Cup for me too - wise use of transfers means you can afford to try a few gambles on FA Cup weekends.

Used to be my opinion too and I realuse it makes more sense now to keep it with the stupid number of transfers we get these days. Personally I prefer to slowly mould and craft my team with far fewer transfers (different topic). FA Cup used to be part of that when your team would play and so you could get in players still in the Cup but gambling on reserve forwards doing well or diving in with a Cup teamsheet on the one regular defender who does start isn't, to me, what fantasy football is about.

Wolves & Brighton made it through their replays so we still have 7 Premier League teams in the 5th round.

If Pep stays true-to-form and puts out a strong team at Newport it could be carnage .... or a really big upset.

Draw for the Quarter Finals .... ties to be played 15th-18th March

Swansea v Man City
Watford v Palace
Wolves v Man United
Millwall v Brighton

.... I was hoping for an 'easier' tie for my Wolves block defence, and a home tie for my Man City attackers - but I guess we're at the 'anything can happen' stage now so we'll have to see how these games fit in with the overall fixture list, and re-arranged games, to see if there are any opportunities.

Citeh will need to counter Swansea flying machine winger so I would expect Walker to get a game. Not a pretty draw for me either.

FA Cup scheduling

Post by SamD »

Quarter Finals ... to be played 15th-18th March
No, they're more likely to be spread between Sat 16 & Sun 17 March like last year as
- BBC1 transmits Comic Relief from 19:00 on Fri 15th
- international break begins on Mon 18th.

BT and (especially) BBC face further complication in deciding TV timings of the four FA cupties as fifth and final round of Rugby Six Nations is already scheduled for Sat 16th.

For info, two of the remaining five Premier League matches that weekend are set for Sky TV on Sun 17th:
- Fulham v Liverpool, 14:15
- Everton v Chelsea, 16:30.

The general 2018-19: Fixture Schedule and Changes thread is likely to be first with news of when cupties and postponed league games will be played: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=127425
