ATR Stable Stars competition
Although this well-run, free game attracted 18,000 and 14,000 entrants in 2015-16 & 2016-17, last season only 12,000 signed up. Rules were amended for 2017-18, following feedback, ie: later deadline of 11pm on Friday; three transfers per round.
Nonetheless, own view is that contest feels like a weekly slog, with most picking the same horses at the shortest odds each round. And by the Cheltenham Festival several stables were almost identical.
I wrote to Stable Stars last week as follows:
- reduce transfers from three to two each week
- reward a race-winner with extra points where SP is longer than 10-1.
If you wish to send comments to the organiser
click feedback tab on ATR home page http://www.attheraces.com/home
or use mail ID info@attheraces.com
Note that, in 2017, game was launched on Sat 21 Oct and entries opened on Fri 3 Nov.

Re: Fantasy Racing 2017-18 * Stable Stars: final results *
Thank you to SamD for his update on the Stable Stars Competition.
This is not my first post on this subject and I suspect that the majority of you agree with
my views.
Further to what SamD posted I have sent another e-mail to At The Races, not the first on this
topic and all the previous ones not receiving a reply.
I agree 100% with SamD and his suggestions but also have made two of my own.
First that the Banker List is made longer maybe 20/25 horses, and second that the Bonus Races contain
more of the big Handicaps rather that the obvious and easy to solve conditions races.
Given past experience I do not feel any real optimism about my e-mail making any difference.
As I have said in the past this is the type of competition I love, but it is in danger of becoming
uninteresting to other people unless some changes are made.
Any other views from other FISO players would be of interest.

Yes agree with all these suggestions. Has the potential to be a good game but with so many entries so similar it is easy to lose interest if you have a bad start as it is so hard to make up ground. I think I had the sadly deceased London prize and two or three others that fell early on in the season last year and took little interest after that. All the suggestions have the possibility of making teams more diverse which is a good thing as means you can have a couple of bad weeks and are not totally out of contention. Can’t remember if there were monthly prizes but that would also keep people focussed.

Re: Fantasy Racing 2017-18 * Stable Stars: final results *
I do not know if anyone else (SamD seems to be a good source of information) can confirm
the news that I have just seen on another website that there will not be a Stable Stars
Competition this coming National Hunt Season.
You will be aware by now that I have tried on a number of occasions to contact At The Races
to bring about a change in the rules to make the competition more of a challenge.
Sad to say they have never sent a reply.
I know there are changes due in the New Year to At The Races, so I suppose this should come
as no suprise, but I have to admit to feeling rather disappointed.
Thank You

Stable Stars
There'll be no competition this season (see below). Though game is well run, I'd considered giving it a miss unless rules changed, as discussed earlier in thread.
Email from At The Races today:
Hi Sam,
We are sorry to report that we will not be running our popular All-Weather Championships Tipping Competition and Stable Stars Game this winter.
This is due to the supplier of the game technologies no longer being able to provide the service, something that we were only notified of at late notice and which gave us insufficient time to find an alternative provider.
This winter we will continue to run our ATR Selector game, whilst we are looking into finding a new technology partner for the games in 2019.
Many thanks,
ATR customer services
