I'd say:

----------------Hart---------------
Zabaleta-Kompany-Nastasic-Clichy
-----Fernandinho---Rodwell-------
--------------Yaya-----------------
Navas------Aguero---------Silva---

- Likes a holding player, at Malaga - Toulalan
- Happy to use a big unit behind the main striker, Julio Baptista at Malaga
- Ok with a midget up top, used Saviola at Malaga
- Comfortable having playmaker type out wide, Isco on the left at times for Malaga

Subject to change of course, because at time Santa Cruz or Baptista was lone striker, with Isco in behind, but this is what I'd go for based on standard starting point.

Absolute madness from Pellegrini tonight. Starting Dzeko, a complete waste of time. This is why I thought he'd go with something like the above.

With Negredo having broken his foot and out for a few months i guess the Financial Fair Play situation is going to hit City even harder.

Personally don't think he'll start the first game.

Dzeko has a chance ; Jovetic has been the star of the pre season friendlies

All will be revealed at the charity shield

Ditto on Aguero. Suspect he won't be 100% ready and will be benched with Liverpool at home in mind.

It may be too simplistic but keep Aguero fit and IMO we are favourites to win the league.

Unfortunately I think he's a glass man - two half-seasons in the last two campaigns - so my vote goes to Chelsea. I expect Arsenal and United to have very good starts but ultimately finish 3rd and 4th.

Colours nailed to mast; bookmark this post to shoot me down in 8 months time. :)

What lineup people are expecting when the season starts? I guess Aguero won't start first GW too, but will be there afterwards. More concerning for me at the moment is question about who will start - Nasri or Jesus Navas? Looks like Jesus Navas is having a good pre-season, while Nasri was there for the most part of the season last year.

Looking for some insider knowledge from any Man City supporters. I just received an email that Man City will be in Houston on May 28th for a charity match against the Houston Dynamo. I immediately thought that there is no way they would be bringing any of the first team and it must be the U21s or something that are coming. However if they are actually doing a tour that soon after the season ends I would love to make the trip to catch the game. I cant find anything online about this so was hoping someone here would know. Please let me know.

Surprised that the papers seem to think that Mangala is going out on loan soon. Two clean sheets, one against Chelsea might suggest that he is more than capable.

Otamendi signed. What are the implications for rotation?

Will probably be eased in but surely destined to be first choice. If De Bruyne comes in I'd fancy City at 1/2 never mind 5/4 which they are now. Leaving Chelsea for dead on quality buys.

Navas must be halfway up pellegrini ffs what a waste of space .. the times he had the ball in clear space and couldn't produce eff all.. Lets have De Bruyne and sew it up. Navas = useless as all you FF managers who don't have him know

I have no idea but Mendy and Jesus seem to be conundrums causing a bit of consternation and of course there is the world cup hangover. As for Sane his situation seems a bit weird.

Are Ederson, Otamendi and Aguero amongst the sure starters?

I rather assumed Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Fernandinho, KDB, Aguero are a safe 6. After that, the most obvious 5 would be from Stones, Mendy (at least 1 of those 2), Sane, Mahrez, Sterling, David Silva (at least 2 of those), Jesus.

Given how strong their midfield is, I could see Aguero as lone striker with a loaded attacking midfield.

But ... Sane looked a bit off today, whereas Mahrez looked pretty sharp. Might Sane get a bit of rotation and might his demeanour become a problem maybe?

I was about to suggest a risky strategy of replacing Salah with De Bruyne this week. Plan now on hold!
