TFF Championship 2018/19

Several days late, and still not ready for launch yet (now saying later this week) but at least here's the player list ...

Just had a flick through the list for Leeds players. Roofe in midfield and not a bad goal return, Ayling would be the only defender worth having a punt on. Strikers? Two have already left and the one that might play is Tyler Roberts. WBA fans could maybe help with some advice on him.
The rest, forget.

It's live. The 4 of us have got to fancy our chances with it being such a projected small entrant pool this year due to the late launch.

Cheers Sam got it now although it looks like a different landing page than the one that takes me to my Premier League teams, strange.

I've only picked my free premier team so far.
In the prem game I have no option to by the £9.99 offer, but when loading sams link I do get that offer in the championship game.

Needed some more teams so just purchased the Season Ticket, £9.99 for 5 teams from the Championship page although i did get my World Cup teams on the season ticket offer they originally ran.

The one free team only in the TFF now covers both PL and Championship. Not one free team in each one like last years. Bit of a pain as it was a nice change with Champ. But not bothered about having to pay for it after I'd already chose a free PL team.

Grabban, Ince and Flint are fine choices, the rest are debatable. Convince me.

My knowledge of the championship is limited but my thoughts are :-

Pantilimon - 6ft 8 keeper with plenty of experience. Forest have made a few good signings this season so expecting a decent season from the team as a whole.
Davies - 192 pts last season, expecting around the same this time round.
Egan - 4m signing for Sheff Utd, gets the odd goal and should probably get more clean sheets at Sheff Utd than he did at Brentford
Mulgrew - bit of a gamble but i remember him from aberdeen and celtic popping up with a few goals.
Hourihane - gets assists and a fair share of goals
Maupay - had him last season when he was in and out of brentfords team but always seemed to get a goal when he played.
Carvalho - £13m signing from Benfica, enabler price of 3.9m
Vydra - highest striker points scorer last season that's playing this season and should be capable of another season of the same.

I'm happy with most of my team but Maupay isn't the bargain he was last season as he's now 4.9m and Mulgrew i'm not convinced about.

What i usually do is just pick a team and then look at changes after game 1 and get in 1 or 2 enablers and then go 3 up front.

I wouldn't have Vydra in at the start. He hasn't found another club yet and hasn't been in training with Derby, according to reports.

Struggling with the strikers on this.

Will the likes of Bony, Berahino and Co find their level?

Here's one I've drawn up.

Carson Derby 3.4 Expect Derby to be there and Carson permanent FF goalie.
Flint. MID 3.7 Done the business, got the t-shirt.
Gibson MID 4.3 Half block with a defence I expect to do well.
Chester AST 3.8 Need I say more?
Douglas LEE 3.9 Assist King and the occasional nod in.
Ince STO 5.1 This is his level.
Adomah AST 5.8 Top points last season. No reason for a change.
Reach WED 5.2 Who? Same as last year please.
J Harrison LEE 2.8 Couldn't get in to a Pullis side. That will do me. This could be the enabler, or the drift in to insignificance.
Grabban FOR 5.8 The man that will keep Forest up there.
Bamford. MID 5.9 Another Pullis victim of defend before you shoot. Gamble, yes, but as Ashers says. Where are the stand out ones?

Surprised Barry McKay hasn't kicked on at Forest. I think he's having a medical at Swansea now, and if he looks likely get a regular game, I'll be on his case. Great little dribbler who always looks dangerous. Scored 95 points last season and most of his game time was early in the season.

Just been having a look at the opposition picks.

Goalie. There are 4 goalies that are getting in to most teams. In order of popularity.
Johnstone, WBA £3.9m
Carson, S DER £3.4m
Butland, J STO £4.0m
Randolph, D MID £3.8m

defenders
The six are
Flint 35%
Chester 31%
Davies 22%
Gibson 17%
Douglas 14%
Shawcross 14%

Midfield
The two stand outs here are Ince and Adomah, from the rest take your pick.

Forwards
Grabban, Afobe and Vydra.

I dont understand some of those %'s, some managers must just pick their team by picking the most picked. Archer stands out as a keeper pick at 3.2m but only has 2%.....unless there is something i dont know about him.

There's a forward or two classed as mids that people seem to have missed.

Also Afobe with 27%, and only has a 1 in 4 scoring record......crazy!

Here's my new team with a bit more research done :-

Archer

Chester
Flint
Cooper
Douglas

Ince
Dack
Soudani
Carvalho

Bamford
Grabban

Got 1m left over.

Dack is a sound gamble with his English League experience. Soudani a good call as well but in kicks the First Season Syndrome rule. We all know it's going to be a Marmite result.

Soudani classed as a mid just jumps out at me. Whether he's a guaranteed starter or not i've no idea but my usual thing is to blow 3 transfers in the first couple of weeks so i get in a couple of good enablers and go 3 up front, so the odd gamble or 2 i'm fine with.

I've got Carvalho who looks stand out value at 3.9m, i gather Forest paid 13m+ for him so hoping for a decent return from him.

Soudani will start on the bench according to Forest forum. I do find them an interesting prospect though - it appears they're trying to follow the Wolves model by signing loads of Portuguese players.

Woodburn SHU 3.9 Forward. Was I naive expecting Midfield? Could be a forward enabler. It's thrown me.

Chadli WBA 5.6 Midfield. Snapped up by 5% and rising.

The problem with Forest though is that even as a forest fan i have no idea of the starting line up.

I would guess that the only players that are nailed on starters are Dawson, Pantillimon, Colback and Grabban, with only the latter appealing.

I would guess that the 3 portuguese players will line up behind grabban in a 4-2-3-1 Formation but with other options available I am not 100% sure.

I'm going to de-ince my team. I'ii swap him for an assister in the shape of Freeman. The risk is, 1 in 3 teams have Ince. Last minute panic.
