i had this too, i didn't even have a telegraph membership!

the issue is that you need the password to be the same for tff & the telegraph, i opened up an account to enter a password as it was the only way to break the loop. obviously some won't bother and more entrants will be lost! try to see if you can make both passwords the same, you should be ok then.

Blimey. Used to be on here a lot a few years back. Sad to see so much negativity re TFF. Have played it since the start and despite not seeming to stand a hope against people who seem to be entering dozens of teams I give it a go each year and will be the last man standing if need be.

What has gone wrong? And can it be fixed?

i think a lot of minor things have gone wrong, pretty much impossible to fix any of them this year. apart from the password issue which can be fixed if you suss what you need to do and try to do it.

re entry numbers, single entrants should at least be up against smaller multis ;)

to be fair to GFM i suspect the telegraph have been the driver in a lot of this. given some recent issues i do wonder if staffing is down a bit at tff towers.

also to be fair i suspect the real underlying issue is falling newspaper sales, bringing pressure to bear on cost saving, raising funds elsewhere etc.

not really anything anyone can do about that and suspect it will eventually bring about the demise of the game, would be surprised if it didnt last at least another year but 6 years + in the internet age i doubt (hope i am wrong).

personally think prolonging the game rather than saving it is the way to go, if GFM go i think that would leave no independent functioning game providers in the uk (unless you count ism who do fpl and seem uninterested in paper games), leaving sky with the option of closing their game, doing it in house or getting the sdt team involved.

Firstly, the mirror stopped running ff at end of 16/17 (even though you might still see a mirror logo on some app sites for FiT and indeed on some of FiT's own pages, they are slack at updating), and the mail used FiT last term (and for their world cup game this time around), but even that relationship hasn't worked out. Both mirror and mail have suggested (well, I asked them directly) that they might be back with new games this season; no indication of providers or maybe even in-house, but I would think more likely that games will return seeing as there is increased interest in football and hence perhaps ff thanks to the england relative success in world cup this year. Newspapers and indeed many other businesses, media and otherwise, will I'm sure be looking to jump on that bandwagon.
any news on all these extra games? or just tff (plus championship & probably champions league) sky & sdt (possibly champions league) i guess for cash and fpl for fun.

will be interesting to see the level of entry for tff this year.
Hopefully great news , having spoken to my point of contact in the Daily Mirror Fantasy Team, they are looking to launch a game of sorts, have a feeling it could well be away from there partnership with FIT.

Will receive news via emails , and was happy to give some feedback as to making a new game a success, stating that in my eyes there is room for a new fantasy football game with cash prizes,

My contact was keen to ask for my views on a structure of the game, i, like most players out there like a challenge,

Here are the points i put across , albeit in a short telephone call.

Reduce number of transfers that the likes of the telegraph have.
A maximum of 3 players per club is good, making you think harder,
Stagger prize funds not being so top heavy on 1st prize , giving a good size 2nd /3rd prize amount.

Happy days

that would be good news, i had contacts at the mirror in the past, the last guy but one was a really decent guy who kept in touch but seemed to be fighting a losing battle!

have had a few contacts there in the past and a couple of meet ups suggested that never happened.

i can't see it being much better than FiT which is pretty awful and really hope they don't use S&M/chronic chroma in any of their guises.

anything going forward would be great, particularly if they are an independent provider.

have a nasty feeling nothing will come of it or will even be a step down from FiT, really hope i am wrong ;)

Fingers crossed it bares fruit.,i did mention that i , along with thousands dropped out once teaming up with FIT,

I also mentioned the Star was a good game to which i was told they have just bought the Star or maybe the fantasy side of it.

rings a bell but can't recall off the top of my head, could be the guy before him i think, i gave up on keeping in touch with providers a few years back

1) there weren't many left and 2) despite lots of noises nothing ever seemed to happen such as meetings and nothing ever improved.

the one thing i did learn though was that the papers called the shots even if they didnt know (the implications of) what they were doing!

Trinity mirror bought the star and express back in february - would be possible to have a game running across two or three titles (the mirror used to run their previous game across regional titles anyway).

There were two huge issues I had with the FiT games - a/ was only available on app, and b/ didn't have a level playing field, as those paying for an extra weekly transfer clearly had the advantage. The Goal website has got rid of the paid extra transfer option this year, but alas not with cash prizes.

Had same problem so logged a call which after they asked me patronisingly if I had followed the password criteria they sorted it. Password was same as Telegraph but that one has a capital first letter cos that is how the site created it. Not sure what they did and assumed a global fix but obviously not!

Once you purchase a package of teams, does the free team you get intially have a chance of winning the overall prize or does that just stay as team which cant win anything?

I ended up phoning their helpline number and, to be fair, they sorted it in minutes. Linked both accounts and reset my password. All sorted.

Next issue is the fact I’m being asked to buy a season ticket despite my pre World Cup purchase of one for EPL 18/19! It never rains but it pours

there have been quite a few issues and a series of small lash ups re packages/cost of packages etc. just looks like they may have reduced staffing to me.

intuitively you would think with epl being the main regular game that the season epl start would be the new season for 'season tickets' i am just guessing as i have no idea what they are doing with this kind of thing as they don't either with one lash up/change of mind after the other.

what they will do next tbh i have no idea whatsoever!

Sorry if I have missed these points.

I log in and there are only 3 options.
1 team at 5 pounds
3 teams at 10 pounds
8 teams for 20 pounds.
Have I missed the early bird offer if there was one this year?
Also there is no option to purchase a season ticket for 4.99 or choose my first team for free.

Strange, when I login with my details from last year, all I get is those 3 options immediately before I can even submit my free team. It says:
'Buy more teams
There are three separate games to play in the 2018/19 Season: Premier League, Championship and Champions League editions. You get your first team for free in the first game you join and if you would like additional teams, you can choose from the packages below:' which is the 3 options I indicated earlier.
Will try contacting them tomorrow.

Extra team credits

Post by SamD »

@ scopsm: guessing you bought season ticket for 2018 World Cup?

If so, when you apply for more teams in 2018-19 Premier League game, choices are as you've seen already:
"1 team at 5 pounds
3 teams at 10 pounds
8 teams for 20 pounds".

But currently, if you upgrade to a 2018-19 Championship season ticket, you can get:
2 additional teams for £4.99
5 additional teams for £9.99.
These credits can be used in any or all of three games: Premier League, Championship, Champions League.

This season's running of the game is a joke!! :x When I eventually managed to log on after all that password shenanigans, I thought I would start picking a few teams and buying more as per usual. I had purchased a season ticket for the world cup game and had 4 credits remaining which I thought I would keep towards this seasons prem game. When i picked my first team for it used one of my 4 remaining credits, so in effect no free team? I contacted them regarding this around two weeks ago and received a reply that the IT team would look at this the following day. A week passed and no response or team credit added, so contacted them again and as yet STILL no response. When I login to the championship game I have no option to pick a free team either, and just to rub salt in the wounds I got an email from the telegraph telling me that if I 'upgraded' my account to a telegraph account (already done) then I would be issued with a free bonus team for the prem game!!! Takes the piss!! :x

I have just used the remaining credits in the hope that it would 'sort itself out' , but its still the same!! I am likely to send them a rather abusive message today, so i may not be playing this season after today!!   I am actual really tempted to sack off everything Telegraph for good, as I don't see why I should buy teams for a game when they can't be arsed to even reply to their own 'contact us' service!!! :?

Response from Telegraph (I wasn't going mad after all):

It looks like your account is missing the 1 allowed free credit for the Premier League or Championship game I'm afraid. I'll get this checked into and you will be able to select 1 free team for either the Premier League or Championship game once the issue has been corrected and credit has been added.
