Not sure quite how this will work out when attached or how it will look. I started this new this season (amongst my other data) .... I'm a bit of a statto.

It shows numbers of weeks against points for the overall leader (red), 100th place (green) and, sadly, my best team (blue). The grey line is the 50 point per week average line, which I'm failing to keep up with thus far but in my defence all my teams are season-long efforts.

It shows the nice curve of the leaders coming back to normality as their initial sprint slows down.

263, 3 transfers used, just outside the top 6,000. The graph stops me stressing about the gap ... as long as the red & green continue to curve downwards :)

Will 50 points per week be enough to win the big prize? I thought more points was needed. Nice graph by the way.

50 points per week would be 2,050 so it will be 'up there', I can amend that easily enough if I need to, it was just a nice round number. I'm happy to update on this thread as we go.

Looking on how will go, 50 points per week will be enough. 2,050 would be great, just saw last year's score was 1,951.

It's a fair shout, I will see what I can do, maybe replace my score (when posting) with 5k or 10k, see how it looks

As a Monthly/Weekly and seasonal player my teams might give you a good guide, August Monthly's became Setember Monthlys due to being enough transfers for both Months so will not start the full decline till October/November, many of the top teams are from the same names so presumably similar.

273 Zero transfers (although not really my team as it's from Latics 2016 league)
269, 4 transfers
275, 7 transfers

Monthly's/Weekly's, 6 teams in the top 50/ 12 teams in the top 1000 between 6 and 22 transfers left.

So most of top 2000 teams all to fall away and meaningless to current table?

Try extending the y axis to 100,000 points. That way you will appear miles closer to the leader.

Progress chart

Post by SamD »

Thanks for thread info, brencarr.

If graph is being fine-tuned, these may be further factors to cogitate on:

1) 2015-16 comprises 42 weeks, including four blank rounds for internationals:
  • wk 05 - week beginning Tue 1 Sep
    wk 10 - Tue 6 Oct
    wk 15 - Tue 10 Nov
    wk 34 - Tue 22 Mar
FA Cup Final is sole match in wk 42.
League and Cup fixtures add up to around 430 each year.

2) Winning total over five seasons:
  • 2014-15 - 1,951
    2013-14 - 2,014
    2012-13 - 2,085
    2011-12 - 2,051
    2010-11 - 1,866
Clean sheet for GK/DEF has increased from six to seven.

What are you going to do about double gameweeks or partial gameweeks when it isn't neat and tidy with everyone playing once?

Still 50pts?

I quite like this idea and I'm certainly going to adopt it. I usually get so hung up about position I forget to look at the points gap.

I will play it by ear, the 50 per week was just a rough guide to where the likely winning team might be on average so hopefully it will all work out in the end. It's the first season I've done this so I'm kinda making it up as I go along :)

How do you find out how many points 1,000th and 5,000th position have?

Also is there aa way to go back and see what points/positions were in a previous gameweek?

For the first bit, an easy way of getting at least an approximate answer is to join the huge FISO league where we'll have nearly every position covered between us! Alternatively you can manipulate the leaderboard link for your team to anything you like, just chop 2 noughts off e.g page 10 shows position 901-1000:
https://fantasyfootball.telegraph.co.uk ... PREMIUM/10

Not sure for your second question but you can dig out some superleagues posted on FISO and see if they cover it....

Another way to look at your chart is that if you buy into the 50pts per gameweek (which seems a good guide if you want to be top or close to top), then for now it doesn't matter where the leaders are. As long as you are close to your "50 point" line, and taking into account double game weeks, FA Cup, 3 for 1s etc..as you step up transfers post Xmas, then you are in good shape. Clearly once you get to early March and depending on your ultimate aim is when you need to focus on where the leaders are.

But I do like the lines closing .....
