P60 query

Post by unc.si. »

Hi,

does anyone know whether, if you've changed jobs in the tax year, your P60 at the end of the year includes all salary or whether you get one from each employment.

Cheers

Pretty sure you will only get one from your new employer.

All the information from your previous employment should be on your P45, which then should be included on your P60 from your new employer.

You should only get two P60s if you have two jobs at once.

MD is right.

The only time your previous salary will not show on your P60 is if your new employer does not receive one of the copies of your P45. So you should ensure that this is handed to the new payroll department. All payroll is now subject to RTI (Real Time Information) so everything should flow through even quicker....in theory.

This is always a handy site as it breaks pay down into annual/monthly/weekly :-

If your new employer doesn't get the P45, you will soon know - either a BR or D0 tax code stopping tax at a flat of 20% or 40%.

Cheers. Saves me trying to chase a P60 off my old employer. Presume my cumulative gross on the payslip also includes the old salary?
Seem to have been on a K code for the year as they don't appear to have given me a personal allowance and I'm just trying to understand a couple of things before I get to the tax year end. Might even do my tax return early if I might get a refund :D

Your payslip should show a gross salary YTD (Year to date) and tax YTD.

If you are on a "K" code then your deductions exceed your allowances. Usually down to benefits in kind (mainly for a company car), an underpayment of tax from a previous year or your Personal Allowance has been restricted for a reason.

You need to look at your current PAYE Coding Notice to see the breakdown.

PM me if you need any more help :)

Your previous employment will be shown on your P60.

I see these every day in my role and the previous employment will be in the box called: in previous employment.

Cheers Ashers - pretty definitive :D

@bluey, the query about YTD pay on the payslip was whether this will also include previous employment. BIK's are (or should be) only a couple of grand (no company car) so pretty sure there's an error with the K code but can't find the coding notice. It's something like K240, and BIK's are just over £2k so just looks like I don't have a Personal Allowance for some reason. Pretty sure I've not got any unpaid tax.

Anyway, main thing is that I don't have to chase after my old employer for a P60.

Swiss bank account, suspected NI and tax fraud, sounds like Dean is up to his neck in it.

It's done him well up to now, been able to evade detection for at least 5 years.

This is totally correct, not sure if anyone here needs to do any tax calculations but here is a site I came across that I honestly think will save a lot of people here a headache: https://www.income-tax.co.uk/
