Re: C4 Friends Mini League
Just noticed that I dropped from 6th to 44th in the space of a month.
It's amazing how quickly things can turn around in this game, in the first game month I finished joint 1st and now I am 10,000th something for the month. I'ts a good thing that it's an average of ANY 3 months that count.

C4 Friends Mini League
Just seen your query, pa John, and Razor's response. Has anyone else noticed the links to the leaderboards don't always work in this game* (a team screen is sometimes displayed instead)?
Have found, however, once logged on, can access the FISO Best Three Months mini-league standings directly via:
http://channel4.fantasyleague.com/Frien ... spx?p=1341" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
* Must say, nonetheless, that the Channel 4/ex-BBC game is one of only two Premier League FF games played in this household: do like the idea of a fresh team and six additional transfers each game month.
Back to the Month Four finale: with just tonight's match to go, quick scans of the various tables suggest the safe option for Switching Channels might be to use the last transfer on Darren Bent.
Coincidentally, a goal or two from the ex-Charlton man might also help two teams in the Telegraph game, the other FF contest played here:
- Football Matters, in the SL co-run with Bramernic, has been shuttling mesmerisingly within the overall top 100 since Oct
- while Fourth Dimension, in the FISO25 superleague, desperately desperately needs some impetus...
Now what's the betting that West Ham extend their clean sheet run to four games or else Roman Pavlyuchenko outdoes Bent?

Re: C4 Friends Mini League
Was too late for league - My best 3 scores are 42, 56 & 107 so I will still be gunning for you from outside the league. It will feel a moral victory if I finish in my hyperthetical top 10.
Think that this is definitely a comp that can be won on a monthly / full year by a fisoite
Have we had victors before?

Re: C4 Friends Mini League
several - i won month 3 this year, and had a win 3 years ago too, must be lots of others. Was too late for fiso league this year though. Unlikely to be in contention overall, only 140th but you never know with this game, have been in the lead at christmas only to finish 30th, no trip to brazil for me that year..
On a related note, I came across a corporate page for ofl a while back, and they implied that next years prize for this game will be a trip to the world cup.......

Re: C4 Friends Mini League
How is the winner of the league judged?
Just wondering if the league points for every month are added up to see who is the overall winner of league?
or is it judged the "best 3 moths"

C4 awards
hm,
The manager with the best tally of points over any three months is the overall winner (holiday for two in South Africa).
The second and third also receive a prize as do each of the nine monthly winners.

your thoughts
Hi
Helen & I are off to a good start to the game month (didnt get in for the mini league in time!) and looking for a monthly prize now. 30 and 31 points respectively .
I still think that 90-100 points could be available this mth and turn the 3 mth prize on its head.
What do we think?
I took a stupid vault at Manucho yesterday but Helen is still sitting on her 6 transfers with the following
GK D James POR
FB S Warnock
FB P Zabaleta MC
CB R Shawcross STO
CB M Skrtel LIV
MF A Lennon TOT 3
MF S Gerrard LIV
MF S Wright-Phillips
MF J Greening WBA
ST J Beattie STO
ST P Crouch POR
Arguments are already afoot - Greening out is a must in my book after next game but she "likes" him! Cahill in???
Money is no concern as you would imagine - please settle the argument!
IS GREENING & WRIGHT PHILLIPS to RONALDO & CAHILL a no brainer for SUnday 5th!!
Please just say Yes

Re: your thoughts
I think that Ronaldo is a Red Card waiting to happen Paddy and I would not consider bringing him in at the moment now that his Buddy Rooney is out for a couple of games. You could fare better with Ireland instead of SWP, Essien of Chelsea, or Taylor of Bolton for your Midfield. Cahill looks solid.padmole wrote:Hi

Re: C4 Friends Mini League
Well done to the top spots - Helen & I entered teams but only started changing them come December when reading the rules. Go a little carried away with too many comps!
She finished well with 3 good mths in the 6 we did to end up with 248 points and 141 place. I was far too impetuous with my transfers and ended up scoring around 60 points every mth and no good at all.
Definitely looking out for it next year as one to definitely have a chance of a prize and also one where I can get friends to compete with enduring interest.
Clearly less competitive due to the relatively weak prizes but seeing as I have never one anything it is best to start in the lower leagues.
What this all means is that I will good intentions come August that are forgotten by October ;0)

Channel4 FF future
Have enjoyed the six-transfer strategy of this well-run (by Fantasy League) monthly game for a decade or so.
But entries have dwindled to fewer than 50,000 compared to six-figure numbers when BBC sponsored game.
Personal view on redressing this:
- start two weeks into the season so there's no time contention with set up of teams in other more valuable prize contests
- divide resultant 36-week season into nine equal 'months', each with four rounds of league fixtures (or even six times six).
