Congrats on the finishes (especially those of you in the top 10k/1k - it's something that gets progressively harder to do year on year).
Sammy - I can't believe you made the top 10k again that's amazing, especially with only half an eye on FPL (maybe there's a lesson there for us )
I might be tempted to brush off the cobwebs in 2021/22...

Three from five for me at this stage - DCL / Toney / Watkins / Ian Nacho / Antonio
All five have good fixtures to start.
Probably won't take Watkins if I have Grealish, assuming the England boys don't miss the start of the season.
DCL depends a bit on the manager situation & when this is resolved. Don't think he'll need resting after the Euros.
This feels like it will become template to me - so many good options at these prices. Wilson, Wood, Bamford, Ings, Jiminez, Pukki. Very easy to be able to jump on good fixture runs.

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
Virtually every team I’ve seen is on three from those five, and as you’ve said any variance is mostly just one of the other strikers you’ve listed (usually Wilson).danjones wrote: ↑23 Jun 2021, 15:32 Three from five for me at this stage - DCL / Toney / Watkins / Ian Nacho / Antonio

Hopefully some transfers will shake things up; Kane going to City would give people something to think about, Abraham leaving Chelsea could do well somewhere.
As SutterKane has said in the fpl live thread, if you pick two premium mids then with these striker options it looks very simple to pick a strong squad, especially as the defenders are very kindly priced.
Quite depressing that it’s not even July and there is a strong looking template for the coming season.

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
I have only just seen that game went live so haven't looked much, but the early templates always look relatively similar. As ever I'll probably start by looking for the cheapest viable defence with the best bargains through the squad dictating formation.
I don't really expect to look closely yet though, the Euros has my attention tonight, but tomorrow could be a good time to do some preliminary scouting.

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
On first glance it does look like the GK's & DEF's have come at a discount with only the Liverbacks & VVD costing more than 6.5M
Judging by all the early drafts, people seem to have forgotten just how good City & Chelsea's defence is. Ruben Dias at 6M seems completely overlooked

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
Has anyone here ever gone with just the one Super Premium ie 12m plus and Perma Banding that player (who may change during the season)?
I'm tempted to give it a go, if only to see if it works, ie following the premise that players that expensive need to be Banded to be worth having.
I did ponder and kinda still am having a top price of 10m (at start of season ie not actual purchase price) but I think that might get too complicated especially with Sub choices....

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
Not sure about DCL this season Fred, I thought he'd do well with Carlo and he did have his breakthrough but I'm not sure about 8.0 it's always a bit of a blackh hole price point anyway.
What's the defensive plan there? 3x 4.5s with 2 of them playing every week seems... optimistic? I love a good 5.0 defender in a back 4 setup though and was looking at Tierney - as an Arsenal fan, what are you expecting (I see you've gone with Holding?)
Dias looks cheap to me, I'd like to have him, TAA and a 5.0 defender to start a defence, but a lot depends of VVDs fitness on that front.

Tierney is made of glass?
In theory you'll be able to have White at 4.5m, which could leave Holding as Tierney's injury cover? Or Arteta goes with 3 CB's and Tierney\White marauding forward?

Maybe something like Chilwell, Dias, Digne, 4.5, 4.5. Not sure on the 5.0s yet, will be interesting to see if Doherty can get into the new Spurs side, but I do like Tierney too.

although Tierney is a nice price am an arsenal fan also and unless i see other wise i would assume KT is injury prone and Arsenal wouldn't keep CS

so you think Chilwell and Digne can cover TAA attacking returns?
what about TAA and 2 5.0s both adds up to the same 17.5

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
Initial thought then with a fully rounded squad is something like this 442:
Fabianski/4.0
TAA, Chilwell, Dias, 5.0, 4.0
Salah, Mane, Grealish, ESR, 4.5
Ings, Antonio, 4.5
A 4.0 defender would be great obviously but if none surface then I will have to choose where (/if) to take the 0.5 required. Salah + Ings could easily be Kane + X instead, not sure who I'd prefer yet so will see what happens with the Olympics etc.
Draft one of many I'm sure.

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
Don't really like to think of covering someone else's returns, more if the selections justify themselves. In most formations I ended up with a 7.5 mid though, and I've moved that slot to TAA now.

Re: Speculative Tactical Cohort (The free-for-all shared-RMT thread 20/21)
Dinge just looked a nice price, but having looked closer at the striking options I can see why DCL is popular. 8.0 seems all the money but he's got a chance of some value there. I really would prefer someone <= 6.5 there eventually but the opening fixtures are good and he can be a place holder if nothing else.
I've just swapped him in for Ings for what that's worth!

My trust is more Buck dependent, as I'm not a fan. But Kaspar as part of a 9m pair is decidedly appealing (see my RMT for details....)
I'm seriously thinking of only 1 10m plus perma-Capt and loading the defence

Personally don't see that happening. One of the best defenders in the game (FPL that is)
Could well be famous last words of course

One of the very rare defence heavy teams I've come across. Makes me wonder if we're all getting carried away with the 4.5m defenders. I can see why most are going for TAA + 4x4.5's allowing an extra premium attacker.
Also interesting you've gone for Ings ahead of Watkins / DCL. Never seen him that high on the npxGp90 stats table. Villas opening 3 are as good as it gets. Grealish or no Grealish Watkins can do some damage early on I reckon.
