The 5.5m price point in defence is one I am struggling to see much value in - Chilwell and Boly possibly but I'm not sure either is a great pick in GW1. Tierney is probably my pick but you already have him. Dier & Davies are harder to assess and I wouldn't want to double up on Spurs until I see some improvement in their defensive record.

Any reason why you have gone with Maupay (not that I dislike him as a pick)?
If a nailed 5.5 defender got 4ppg I'd take 152 for the season!

But will he be nailed...

5 atb ls my strategy so naturally I support it. Maupay ... he is on my shortlist but I think there are a few cheap strikers who could do 20x and just sit in place.

Was about to reply and then I saw this. My exact thoughts. Interesting. Think Gomez is a tad expensive for just clean sheet prospects. Tierney is one I’ve been looking at myself, really rate him. Davies currently in my team, too. Think I’d prefer Trossard over Maupay; I’m as interested in your reason for Maupay as AR.

I feel I would let the 5.5M Defender slot develop. Gomez is a safe pair of hands, 'til it does.
Spurs too - those are just two slots.... But I think I would have had one anyway. Mou defences in season 2 are generally tight. I see one of them become Saliba / Vinagre. Or even Maitland-Niles.
Aldershot Rejects wrote: 27 Aug 2020, 23:56 Any reason why you have gone with Maupay (not that I dislike him as a pick)?
Maupay:
1. Talisman theory. Everything they will get will pass through Maupay. Maupay is the most low-key talisman
2. One extra year of Graham Potter. This is when the training should truly start improving the team - a la Ostersund.
3. Some extra creativity through Lallana, and Trossard getting more used to the PL now. Izquierdo has recovered too.
Going out on a limb here - but I expect Maupay to make his par score of 150 odd.... (and it is a nice pricepoint -- during the tough Gameweeks, easy to hokey cokey with another 6.5M - such that even if Maupay finishes at 135 or so, the slot gets me 150).

One other reason for Maupay- I have a plan to eventually have a 4-4-2 or a 5-3-2, and in that structure, Maupay's pricepoint fits in best.

Two 4.5m 'rotting on bench' forwards would be difficult to carry.

I am there and thereabouts. Have been well. Close family has been safe - you all must have heard the massive proportion the pandemic had taken in the country.
FPL was a bit of a relief, though this year's form certainly has not been :D :D :D
Hope you have been well too, and all around you are safe?

This was a fun, fun exercise. It has been ages and ages playing this. Feels like a kind of a milestone. My worst season.

I have been struggling with my team for a bit. Not in terms of how I like it - I feel pretty happy with it on paper, but the results have not been forthcoming...

I think a GW by GW study is required.... Which I will do in due time.

I do feel that I am spending more time looking at Twitter and listening to mindless Twitter fleets, and less time doing what has worked reasonably well in the past - i.e. staring at my team for hours and hours, and listening to podcasts.

Here, though, is a snapshot.
FPL PRE GW 10.JPG
Happy to be patient. Seems the decisions are correct, the personnel choices are not.

The team, as it stands, is something I am reasonably happy with.

Ramsdale is a decent GK for the run.

I have 4 of the 5 defenders I want in the long run.

The mids and strikers are a bit up in the air, but we shall see, okay....

One obvious playing error is getting in Cancelo for Alonso instead of Rudiger. I just kicked a transfer down the road. The point swing is not much, though. 6 odd points.
A minor one - The third midfielder hokey-cokey is also something I have played poorly. This perhaps is not the season for that. That problem would be gone though, soon. That becomes either Foden or Son, perma-slotted in the team.
Will discover the others as I go along.

Lesson, spend less time on twitter. :D

Indeed, there is some useful stuff on there but so much vapour.

Looking at your side, I would target Raphinha and Jiminez. That M2 spot is quite key in your structure and Raphinha flatters to deceive. Any mileage in upgrading him to Foden and downgrading Jiminez (if you can find someone you like)?

Personally for me Chilwell is a must have.

Thanks AR. Sounds just about perfect. I have the money to do that in 2 moves next week.

Laporte+Mbuemo/Raphinha -> Foden+Chilwell. Sets up nicely

Those are pretty much the moves I'd be making too. Of the two Raphinha looks more expendable with their fixtures turning bad soonish.
