At 46,606, this is my best season--aside from a 11k fluke--and it's right in line with Ville's worst. He's pretty insane. Bet he recovers next season and hope I can follow into the top 10k as well.

Are we not supposed to comment when Ville plays badly? Only praise him when he does well?

If so then I ask, what is the point of this thread?

Speaking of frauds, are you prepared to admit that you and your model were wrong about Burnley?

Comment fine, but calling him a fraud? More a comment on the poster than on Ville.

It would perhaps be interesting, and certainly more constructive, to try and work out what Ville did wrong this year (if anything). My view:
- He comes up as unlucky on the fpl review tool
- He certainly owned the successful players at the wrong times in the season (debatable the extent this is bad luck or judgement)
- He made some apparently odd decisions around the blank gameweek, out of keeping with his usual style

He did hit lucky/skillful with Hazard when he did well early in the season I seem to recall.

Captains aside, this is where the big swings are made or lost on others. I find this very difficult to predict. Having these players for their good fixtures, which really doesn't take much in-depth planning, is not the answer it might have been a few years ago. One had to spot trends I think or just stick with those type of players through thick and thin. But you can't have 'em all...and if you have the wrong ones.

I took Burnley at 7/2, I never said they were certainties or even odds-on to go down.

Congratulations on breaking even against a fraud though. Must feel like a million dollars.

Most of the season he did usual rational moves. However I recall, without going into details, a few moves where I was shaking my a head a little and obviously his run up to the blank GW 33 was less than ideal. Some moves seemed really hasty, which is strange for Ville.
I would personally attribute this to lack of time invested in planning, than lack of FPL ability, as he his track record shows he is excellent planner and very patient player.

For me personally, the biggest mistake was mishandling the DGW25. Not having any of Laporte, Sterling or Aguero was truly embarrassing play from me and possible prevented me from ending in top 1k this season. Think in FPL, if you get those few crunch GWs right, a lot of sub-optimal decisions can lose their significance. Close, one-off calls on paper at the time like Sane TC (25) vs. Salah TC (36) can make or break your season. It's really not the Llorentes, Ingses or Grays who matter the most.

I updated the spreadsheet above with this year's final points totals.
Total Points (average GW score) over last 5 complete seasons:

Sutherns: 11,810 (62.16)
Tobin: 11,803 (62.12)
Borges: 11,757 (61.88)
Rattiner: 11,751 (61.85)
Phillips:11,743 (61.81)
Day:11,697 (61.56)

Sutherns now has the best five season average.

Olympic Average (Last 7 years with best and worst season removed)
Average GW score:
Rattiner: 61.99
Barclay: 61.87
Phillips: 61.81
Sumner: 61.46
Meechan: 61.43
Sutherns: 61.35
Borges N/A (fewer than 7 seasons)

Rattiner is the most consistent performer.

Ronka away back in the pack, he has a 60.85 average for both measurement methods.

I'd like to (and maybe follow him like Dazzler did). How to start going about it? Should I search with his name, team name etc ?

Four years ago on the stalkers thread I followed Marlen Rattiner and I just re-read, It is interesting that four years ago his starting lineup somewhat reflects current thinking. He kept going back to Chelsea for their good fixtures, and always managed to pick the big scorers for any given GW as the season went along.
Starting line-up 9th august 2015
Cech - Azpil- Francis -Huth -Walcott- Mane - Hazard (C) -Sterling - Wilson - Rooney - Benteke -
(McCarthy- Sinclair - Targett- Richards

this team initially scored in the ranks of the millions and ended up just outside the top 1,000

4-4-2 from Ville

Ryan
TAA VvD Laporte Digne
Salah(c) Sterling Sigurdsson Moura
King Murray

Very similar to mine with one key difference: Siggy+Murray over Barkley+Wilson. His combo looks good tbh..

Am I right in thinking FPL has removed the ability to see the transfers made and money ITB of other teams, thus making it harder to stalk the likes of Ville?
