Champagne League

Post by quizking »

I have set up a league (for fun - it won't be going for the league cash prize, and it's not an official FISO league) and am donating a prize of a bottle of Piper Heidsieck Champagne for the winner. Enter up to five teams each (teams can be in up to five mini-leagues so this won't stop you being able to enter other leagues later);

league name - champagne league

pin - 8000028

Note; anyone can enter, but this league will mainly be promoted at my quizzes around town, and the prize will be awarded at a central london bar next year, so if you're not based near london, you might have a journey to make if you would like to claim the prize.

It's also partly a plug for my website, which also has more details about the league;

http://www.quizking.eu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://quizking.eu/#/fantasy-football/4552310020" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Please post here with team name if you're in, so i'll have an idea of who has entered from fiso, rather than from one of my pubs.

Cheers!

Most people on here will probably be waiting until the entry deadline hoping to team up with four high flyers so you'll probably get loads of teams enter at the last minute. I'll stick any spare teams in when we get to the deadline. Looking forward to my champagne 8-)

I only play for fun, so a bottle of champers is the most i would ever win, but if my teams do well ,they can still join other leagues at a later date. Is there a FISO league this year.?

Bump - all still welcome (though aimed predominantly at london and south-east entrants), just a few days left, and a bottle of piper heidsieck's finest to the league winner.

champagne league

8000028

Though i still have a chance of winning my own prize, there's a long way to go yet - and only 55 entries so far. Will be updating the table here, and at http://www.quizking.eu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

cheers

Thanks to striker for a pm - my bad in use of the word "open" earlier in the thread - it's a league free for anyone to join, the more the merrier - but teams are "closed" and hence not viewable by anyone else. Have just edited the original post accordingly.

Edit again - am not sure that viewing other teams in this game is an option anyway.

I'm not certain either, but I assume that that is what the Yes/No option as to whether your team is PUBLIC is all about.

My guess is that if you say YES all other managers in your super league can see your team, 'cos if that ain't right what on earth is the public option all about?

I had the open mini league with a friend a few years ago and it did make the team viewable by others in the mini league (including transfers and subs)

No worries - i hadn't even considered that anyone would think of letting anyone else see their teams, and hadn't even noticed a public option. To confirm, this league is "closed" in the sense that your teams are kept private, but not in the sense that anyone can still join.

Yes, it is.

Just gone back to have a look - there is no viewable option in this game anyway, at least not on my browser; perhaps there is confusion with the telegraph or another competition.

You can set your teams to be public but I can't see where it makes them public? It didn't change anything straight away in my mini league. A few years ago I was in a Mail "open" mini league and you could see the opponents team by clicking on the name.

Yes, think that's what i meant - whoever sets up a minileague doesn't see an option to set everyone's league viewable, and quite rightly so, seems bizarre to me that anyone should want to show off their team anyway. Must be one of these social media concepts that are apparently popular with the youngsters at the moment.
In the telegraph leaderboards there have been a couple of teams highlighted in red - seems that these teams are "viewable". Don't recall ever having seen this in the mail game (though it's also run by gfm) - either the option hasn't been switched on at head office, or nobody with a decent team has been daft or brazen enough to make their team(s) viewable anyway.
