It's up and running....

More or less the same as before but with reduced prizes, down to two teams each, and new auto-subs feature.

Mini League: FISO FORUM
PIN: 8001129

How to play
Once again, our Fantasy Football game is FREE to play and you can enter up to THREE teams without spending a penny! Players will score points for Premier League matches and FA Cup matches throughout the 2014/15 season.
New Features

Auto Substitutions
Our new Auto Substitution feature will allow you to bring on players from your bench to your first team to score you points without you lifting a finger! When you swich on Auto Substitutions you can sit back and let your players on the bench score your team points if members of your starting eleven are not playing. Worrying about whether you have made any substitutions before a match day are a thing of the past!
Creating Your Team

Choose 11 players and 4 substitutes to form your squad. You have £100m to spend and can choose any of the following formations: 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 5-3-2 or 3-5-2.

You can bring your substitutes into your team at any time before the first scheduled kick-off each day. This means, you can get best value out of your 15 man squad to maximise your chances to score points and best of all, it doesn't use up any of your transfers! You can swap a substitute with any player of the same position in your 11 on the My Team page. You will need to make transfers to change formation.

You can use the ‘Mail My Mates’ facility on the website to get them to play. You’ll still compete in the main league but you also get the chance to win the £1,000 Weekly League prize too. Each of your teams can participate in up to five Mini Leagues. Get 10 or more teams in your league at the start of the season and you could win our £1,000 Chairman’s Award.
Prizes

There's another £60,000 up for grabs this year and the first prize for the main game is £10,000 for our overall winner. We also have a weekly prize of £1,000 payable to the Manager whose team has amassed the greatest number of points in the previous week. The first team you create will be your entry, so use your unlimited transfers wisely before the season opener at 12.45pm on August 16th 2014. Head to the Prizes section to find the full list what you can win.
Live Scoring - Every goal as it happens....

Just like last season, you can view you scores live during matches with our all new live scoring centre. Updates will appear within moments of the event happening in real time so keep your eyes peeled!

Pleased to see it back as after the farce of last season as I was half expecting a new format. Shame the prize has dropped so much though. If they had to drop the amount to fund their legal costs for their fight with Lugger then fair enough ( ) but it's just gone on weekly prizes instead.

I don't understand the point of this at all. Unless there's a weekly limit on transfers I've not noticed that's going to be a prize for the multi-enteries only. What a total waste of 2/3rds of the prize fund :?

No mini-league prize either.

As is traditional people may like to start by listing the things that are wrong and/or don't make sense.....

On the intro it says "There’s no limit to the number of £1,000 prizes you can win this season". Then on the prize page it says it's limited to one per person.

It says it's THREE teams each, then on the FAQs it's just two per person.

Thereafter, teams will score points from the earliest scheduled kick-off of the following day after entry has been completed. Points will not be backdated. Proof of submitting an entry will not be regarded as proof of receipt of such entry. The computer's record of each entry will be deemed to be an entry.

3. PLAYER LIST

The players included on the selection list and their ratings and valuations have been determined by the Judges. MailOnline will not enter into any correspondence relating to details of the selection list, nor will it accept the inclusion into a team of any player not on the selection list. New players will be introduced on to the selection list as and when appropriate, before and during the season. These may be listed from time to time in the Daily Mail newspaper and on the MailOnline Fantasy Football Game Website and Mobile Website.

4. TEAM FORMATION

Managers' team selections must consist of 11 players chosen from the selection list, in either a 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 formation. One of the 11 players must be nominated as captain. In addition, four substitute players must be chosen. A Managers substitute’s bench must consist of a substitute goalkeeper, a substitute defender, a substitute midfielder and a substitute striker. The combined value of these players must not exceed £100 million in accordance with the values attributed to the players on the selection list. Managers may switch between formations during the season by making transfers - see paragraph 7. There is no restriction on the number of players chosen from the same Premier League team. Managers not wishing to select their own team but wishing to participate in the MailOnline Fantasy Football Game may do so by selecting the Auto Team-Select option.

5. TEAM CONFIRMATION

All teams successfully registered will be confirmed on-screen and a confirmation email will be sent. Managers should be aware that some ISPs and central servers have firewalls or other blocking software, which do not allow distribution of game-related communications.

6. SCORING POINTS

Scores will be calculated using data provided by Opta. Points will be awarded and deducted as follows: Appearance of a selected player for the whole of match +2, Appearance for part of a match +1, Win bonus +3, Draw bonus +1, Goal scored (inc penalty shoot-outs): keeper/defender +10, midfielder +8, striker +5, Key contribution to a goal determined by the judges +3, Sent off -5, Yellow card -2 (2 yellow cards leading to a red card will count -5), Missed penalty (inc penalty shoot-outs) –5. For defenders and goalkeepers only: clean sheet (players completing full match only) +4, clean sheet (players completing part of a match only) +2, goal conceded -1. For goalkeepers only: penalty save (including shoot-outs) +5 (for these points to be awarded the goalkeeper must have touched the ball with some part of his body as determined by the judges). Your team substitutes on the bench do not score points unless promoted to the starting X1 by the Auto Substitute feature (see condition 10). Nominated captains will score double points. In the event that the nominated captain scores negative or minus points, the deduction will also be doubled. All matches played in the English Premier League season 2014/15 and the FA Cup 2014/15 competition will count from the start of the English Premier League season, scheduled for Saturday, August 16th, 2014 until and including the final round of English Premier League fixtures scheduled to be on Sunday, May 24th, 2015 and the FA Cup Final which is scheduled to be played on Saturday, May 30th, 2015. Abandoned matches where the result does not stand will not count. The MailOnline Fantasy Football ‘Game week' will run from Tuesday to Monday (the ‘Game Week’). Key contributions to goals will be awarded at the sole discretion of the judges. Points for key contributions will not necessarily be awarded for all goals scored and in some cases the judges may award points to two players for one goal if they consider both to have made a key contribution. A key contribution will not necessarily be awarded to the last player to touch the ball before the goal scorer and may be awarded for opposition own goals. A key contribution will not be awarded to a player for shielding the ball or creating space for another player to run into. No Key contribution is given for a player who earns a free kick that subsequently results in a goal. If a player is in possession when they are fouled resulting in a penalty and the penalty is scored by a different player, then the fouled player would earn a key contribution. No Key Contribution is given to a player who simply touches the ball sideways from a free kick, or to the penalty taker when penalties are saved or come back off the woodwork before a goal is scored. If the Goalkeeper loses control of the ball, parries it away, or the ball rebounds off the frame of the goal and a goal ensues then the player who originally took the shot can be awarded with a key contribution, but not if he scores the rebound himself. The judges' decision will be final and MailOnline will not enter into any correspondence regarding points deducted or allocated to players. Scores will be updated online after the final match on any game day has been played.

7. LIVE SCORING

During all eligible Premier League matches, Managers can view the progress of their fantasy football team and watch score updates live on the Game Website. Scores will automatically update in accordance with the game’s scoring parameters as an event occurs in real-life matches. While matches are being played, a Manager’s team will display the XI that was eligible at the start of each match and transfers that are not eligible for that match will not appear for the purpose of viewing live scoring. Live score updates should be regarded as indicative only and finalised scores will be published following verification by the judging panel appointed by MailOnline. Only verified scores will be published on the Game Website, Mobile Website, Game Apps and leader boards. In the event that live scores vary from finalised scores on the Game Website, Mobile Website and Game Apps, the finalised scores will apply and the decision of the judges will be final and MailOnline will not enter into any correspondence regarding points deducted or allocated to players.

8. TRANSFERS

Managers may alter their teams during the course of the season by effecting transfers via the MailOnline Fantasy Football Game Website. A total of 32 transfers can be made during the season for each of a Manager’s teams. 16 transfers will be available for use until 09:00 Monday, January 5th 2015, thereafter an additional 16 transfers will be allocated to each team and available for use from 09:01 on Monday, January 5th 2015 until the scheduled kick-off of the FA Cup Final. Unused transfers will not be carried over. Transfers may be submitted at any time after the earliest scheduled kick-off on Saturday, August 16th, 2014 until the scheduled kick-off time of the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 30th, 2015. Players must be transferred before the earliest scheduled kick-off on a day when matches are taking place in order for players transferred into a team to be eligible to score points on that day. Players transferred after the earliest scheduled kick-off on any day will only be eligible to score points in matches which take place on the following match day. With all transfers, Managers must ensure that their teams continue to meet the selection criteria (see condition 4). Once submitted, transfer requests cannot be altered. Newly transferred-in players cannot be removed from a team until at least the next earliest daily kick-off has passed. MailOnline will not be responsible for transfer applications lost in transmission or received late due to high online traffic levels. In addition to the transfer allocation above, a transfer amnesty will operate until first scheduled kick-off on Saturday, August 16th, 2014 which allows Managers to make any number of changes to their line-up.

9. USE OF SUBSTITUTES

Prior to the earliest scheduled kick-off on any match day, a Manager can elect to promote any or all of their substitutes into their team. The substitution can be made with any other player in the team, provided that a valid team formation is created (see condition 4). Use of substitutions does not affect a Managers transfer allocation. Substitutes on your bench do not score points unless promoted from the bench by the Auto Substitute feature (see condition 10). Only players in the starting X1 will score in a Managers team and players on a Managers bench who make substitute appearances in real life will not score including players relegated to the bench through the Auto Substitute feature.

10. AUTO SUBSTITUTES

Managers may make use of the Auto Substitute feature. In the event that any player in a Manager’s starting X1 does not play any part whatsoever in their teams match in real life or do not have a scheduled match in real life on any game day, the substitute on the Manager’s bench that plays in the same position ie Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder or Striker will automatically be promoted from the bench to the Manager’s starting X1 and will score points if they have participated in a match in real life on the relevant game day. Auto Substitutes will only apply when the Auto Substitute feature is switched on prior to the scheduled kick off of the day’s first eligible match. Substitutes promoted from the bench through the Auto Substitute feature will visually remain on the bench and relevant scores will be calculated in the daily scores update only. Up to four Auto Substitutes may score for Managers on any eligible match day but any Auto Substitute player can only be scored once on any eligible game day. Managers will not be able to view Auto Substitutes in their My Team or Live Scoring views and points will not appear in live scoring for Auto Substitute players. Daily score updates will reflect points scored by Auto Substitutes and these points can be tracked in the Team Performance section of the website. During score updates, the games transfer facility may not be available for a short time while auto substitutes are calculated. Managers must elect to switch-on the Auto Substitute feature by checking the box next to the substitute bench prior to the kick off of the day’s first eligible match. If the Auto Substitute feature is not switched on, no points can be scored by players on the bench. Similarly, if the Auto Substitute feature is not switched off, all auto substitutes made through this feature shall be binding and cannot be reversed under any circumstance. Use of substitutes through the Auto Substitute feature does not affect a Managers transfer allocation.

11. CAPTAIN CHANGES

During the season, Managers will be able to change their captain nomination 10 times. 5 changes will be allowed up to 09:00 Monday, January 5th 2015, after which a further 5 changes will be allowed until the end of the season. Unused changes will not be carried forward. Captain Changes must be made before the earliest scheduled kick-off on a day when matches take place to be eligible to score points on that day. Changes made after the scheduled kick-off on any day will be effective from the following day. Where a player who is a Managers nominated captain is transferred out of the team or relegated to the bench, the player transferred in or promoted from the bench will not automatically become the captain and it is the Managers responsibility to use a captain change to nominate a new captain in their starting X1. In the event that an Auto Substitute replaces a Managers captain, the starting X1 will score without a nominated captain for that given day.

12. MINI LEAGUES

By entering the MailOnline Game, Managers have the opportunity to form their own league ('Mini League'). The Manager that creates the Mini League will be nominated as the Chairman ('Chairman').. Any Mini League containing two or more identical teams will be rejected. No further Mini League entries will be accepted after 23:59 on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014. A team may participate in up to three Mini Leagues. Once a team has joined a Mini League it is not possible for that team to be moved into another Mini League but the League Chairman will have the option to remove a participant team from the Mini League. The Chairman will be the recipient of all correspondence relating to their Mini League. League Chairmen will be able to restart any Mini League that they created in last season's game. Simply follow the instructions on the Mini Leagues page and you'll be on your way to recreating any of your leagues with just a few clicks.

13. TEAM/MINI LEAGUE NAMES

MailOnline reserves the right to refuse to accept team names or Mini League names that are felt, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate or offensive. Unsuitable names will be deleted or amended and the team or Mini League will appear under a Manager’s or the Chairman's name.

14. PRIZES

Very good

I think they are more interested in funding FUBU05's jet-setting life style.

I cant understand how when the mail is discussing 1k a week prize no one in that meeting says "thats just going to be won by new teams and will encourage cheating" - to put so much of their prize money budget on it seems crazy

Definitely a cheats' charter benefitting those who enter teams in their grannies and dogs names.**

The idiots think that it will reward the average player who happens to have a good week. The only way to achieve this is to not allow any entries after a certain date, say October 1st. Why are so many games run by numpties who introduce rules, prizes etc which any experienced manager would tell them would not fulfil the obvious intention of that rule/prize.

** As an aside, those who claim that they only do this because others do it, are using a pathetic excuse. They are potentially defrauding the vast mass of entrants simply so not to disadvantage themselves vis a vis the small number of other cheats.

No much going on in here so I've taken the liberty of setting up a mini-league.

There's no prize this year but there's a prize draw thing for mini-league chairmen. If I should win that obviously I'll put it up a mini-league prize which I will win anyway

I'm finding the pricing much more of a challenge this year even with some transfers to top clubs throwing out some potential bargains. Last year it felt that you could have, more or less, anyone you wanted whilst having major coverage from the top teams for those win bonuses.

At the moment my teams have too many of the likes of Tripper, Matty Taylor and Drinkwater.

I prefer it this way though so you have to spot emerging talent to upgrade your Artetas to Ramseys.

I will still play this game this year. The Mail game was my first go at Fantasy Football several years ago, so i have a soft spot for it in my heart.
Yeah it is now virtually impossible to win unless you are one of the cheating miscreants that find ,and abuse every loophole known to man, but i only play it for fun , with a few mates, so i'm not that bothered. ( Especially as i'm shit at it as well :D )
Last years "Mail Thread" was a cross between watching a soap opera, and a bad car crash through your fingers, but i admit i found it both funny ,and revealing in that it showed just how many Fantasy Football players are simply in it for the dollar.
I really don't know why people spend so much effort making up false identities, it would probably be less time consuming just to go out and earn a few quid.
Hopefully this year there will be no glitches in the system, and it will be a even playing field.
I totally feel for anyone that was robbed of a big prize last year, it's a bitter pill to swallow, but in my experience of life, these big organisations don't really give a toss about what is right and wrong.
Anyway thanks AV for setting up league, my two will be in, and if i spot any hamsters or dogs on the leaderboard i wont be in the least surprised.....

I don't have a dog or a granny or a granddad, or an uncle or an aunt, a hamster or even a goldfish. Isn't life unfair?

My 2 are in but based on last 2 seasons don't think I'll be troubling the high scorers too much.

Yeah, I've been finding it difficult to get a squad without having anyone a bit rubbish in it. I think the main difference is the lack of viable cheap forwards. There are some pickable cheap defenders, plenty of pickable midfielders in the 5-7 range, but there aren't any forwards under about 9 that I'd want.

Last year there was Remy and Bony, before that the likes of Lambert and Adebayor but there's nothing standing out this time. :?
