Ask yourself an honest question.

Do you think this is the right decision, to aid the playability of the game?

Metro/FSB could have stuck by the original gameweek deadines and annoyed a lot of causual FF people (maybe work leagues at stake etc) who may have voyed never to play the game again.

Most people, (The exception being FISO Geeks such as myself) will not read in full the rules and regulations and are just casual players. FF games also need the casual player for them to be succesful and so it follows that that more professional players (The FISO Geeks again) need the caual players to also play, if the games are to continued to be run and prizes to be collected.

Thats my thoughts anyway.
Changing rules half way through a game is never the right decision - and if this were a pay to play game, it could invalidate the game as it would be equivalent to changing terms of contract. There is precedent for this, as discussed with the gambling commission in years past.

So if they didn't change it you'd simply hold back on say half the transfers and aim them at the next phase.I guess they've made it easier for the amateurs which is understandable as that's the bulk of their market. If for example not that it'd ever happen the t & c's stated no one over 30 years old could win a prize then they'd be expected to change that.Just changing for no or marginal reasons is where it's wrong.

The sarcasm was so well hidden that you are either too subtle for your own good or a bit of a fibber.

Thats my thoughts anyway.

Be honest,

Did you ask the question for the good of the game or for your benefit?

Why didn't you ask the question at the start if you were concerned about them changing the rules part way through and why did you give them an answer to your question unless you were wanting to influence the decision?

My opinion is that you should never change the rules part way through as it just causes aggrevation and unfairness for someone. Even if it's a bad rule just leave it be, as at least it's a bad rule for everyone rather than cause an injustice to someone.
I'll be honest, I think this will disadvantage me slightly but I probably was going to win anything anyway but that's not influencing my opinion as I always think the same and that rules should not be changed, especially after the off. I had been using half of my transfers to get my team ready for the next stage rather than grab as many points as possible during the early stages and not using many captain changes, although with the top players invariably scoring more than 50 this was probably hurting me. That was just my choice of how to play the game, after finding out at the end of round 1 that you didn't get the transfers until after the start of the first ganme of the next round, and score best from how the rules were set but now the goalposts have been moved slightly to the advantage of those who had been using their transfers and not planning for the future, especially with Russia going out and now not being in the first QF.

It would have been interesting though to see how close the tortoises could have got to those out front.

Muddy & All

If I wanted to make an advantage solely for my benefit, I would not have given full details
on a public forum, giving everyone plenty of notice of when the change takes effect

11 out of 15 of my starting players for Gameweek 3 were from Groups A and B, so this rule change will possibly work against myself.

I have made a future note to myself not to be open and honest in future, or alert the
fellow Fantasy football community to amendments but to be like the majority of
people on Fiso, to keep information to yourslf for personal advantage.

This Foum is clearly not the helpful place it used to be.

Perhaps you will change your mind after sleeping on it. Fiso continues to be the helpful forum it was intended to be. My only criticisms are that it tends to be a mutual congratulation society amongst certain posters, and that there is too much tribalistic inter club rivalry rubbish where common sense is absent.

However there are large numbers of posters who share information, some of whom go out of their way to do so. This includes info on game rules, fixtures, injuries, etc etc. (Bramernic, snout, SamD, andye, are a few who spring to mind). Mind you those who post that they have spotted the next 200 pt enabler are to my mind misguided show offs and this is something that few of the better FF managers do.

FWIW I believe that you have tried to be helpful in this thread and that your prime motivation in communicating with the game organiser was your need for clarification.

I also believe that the game organiser was wrong to change any rule once the game had started. They should simply take their cock up on board and get it right next time.

Question

Can I clarify the transfers for the Knockout stages (Not the Group stages) You can have 8 players per team in the knockout stages. However, the start time to make those transfers is 1945hrs (Ie when the first game in the QF and also the SF takes place) This means it will be impossible to have 8 players from one team playing in the first game of the quarter finals (25% of the fixtures) or indeed transfer any player from your new transfer allocation for the first game of the Semi Final (50% of the Semi Finals) As there are days with no games between the Group phase and Quarter Finals and also Quarter Finals and Semi Finals, why not move the start day back a day so that everone received their new transfer allocation in time for all the QFs and SFS., which must have been what you intended. I await your reply.

Answer

Thanks for your message on this - personally I was in favour of moving this forward for all Match Weeks, but your message has aided in that decision here with the start time of Match Week 4 (Quarter-Finals) and Match Week 5 (Semis) now being brought forward by 24 hours to allow for changes to be made ahead of these games. These changes have now been reflected in our Match Week schedule (http://fantasyfootball.metro.co.uk/EU_EF/how-to-play/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Thanks again for this! Damian

I personally feel this is the correct decision and say Well done to the Metro/FSB.

This is am absolutely disgraceful decision. I'd planned all my transfers throughout the tournament to ensure that i had players in the first QF , sacrificing substantial points along the way to ensure it.
e.g. not having 3 or 4 players for every 1 of irelands opponents
holding back a couple of my round 3 transfers to bring portuguese players in.
Keeping Ronaldo in all my teams instead of freeing up the money.
Anybody who thinks this is the right decision needs to give their head a shake.

In my 5 teams I started week 3 with 9 players from group A & 4 players from group B

I was so mad i sent the following e-mail

I have just discovered that the start date for Match week4 has changed to allow transfers to be made prior to the kick-off of the first QF.

In My opinion this is a disgraceful decision. competitors such as myself, who have made tactical sacrifices based on the rules as they were original set have now been unfairly disadvantaged.
E.G.I have made the following decisions based on the original rule.
1 Keeping Ronaldo in teams, rather than freeing up the money to make more useful transfers throughout week 3.
2 Not picking 3 or 4 players from Irelands opponents every match in order to keep in players likely to play in the first QF
3 Holding back transfers in match week 3 in order to transfer in players for QF1.

The original rule, may or may not have been the better rule. That is irrelevant. The fact that once again Metro Fantasy changes rules half way through a competition tarnishes the integrity of the competition.

For the record i have 3 teams in the top 30, who i know would have had 100 to 200 points more.

Currently 60th but downhill all the way now

Had planned to have 10 players in the Final. Had 8 last night but 7 were German and that was my problem. Had to gamble as I was chasing down a lead to in two cash leagues.

Will manage just 5 now in the Final

Actually, a slight exaggeration (eggsaggeration ho ho) on my part. I do have some Italian and Spanish eggs. However, there may be another problem. I have one team with 4 Spanish/Italian midfielders and Ozil as captain. This team has 1 transfer left. I'm guessing (I haven't tried yet), that it won't let me transfer out Ozil as I have no captain changes left and I would be left without a captain.

EDIT: It looks like we still have unlimited captain changes available, so maybe I'll be OK after all.

120th is all I could manage.

Never quite got the Captains right until the Semis

Went Germany heavy in the Semis to try and claw my way back into contention in the Mini cash leagues and that was teh end of that.

Do you get a reply to your message you sent them?
I sent them a quick note saying I was against them changing the rules part way through but never got a reply, unlike wandacatvenus.
