Re: METRO 2011/12 FANTASY FOOTBALL - LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
Spent some time this morning, adjusting my sole team entered so far from its' 'Auto Select ' state to a team picked by myself.
After quite a bit of time amending my team, I now feel that I have a balanced team.
I feel that this has been the must difficult game to get a balanced team in and even then, I am not really happy with my strikeforce. I have found that I could not afford Rooney or RVP for example, without seriously weakening other areas of the team.
The strikers seem to be Overpriced in my opinion (Even the fourth/fifth choice strikers at some teams) and you are forced to choose three of them.
What do others think?

Re: METRO 2011/12 FANTASY FOOTBALL - LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
Time will tell, but I put together my sole team in about 10 minutes and I think it's pretty over-powered all round. FPL is much more dependent on managers taking (educated) gambles on newly promoted players, fringe players, etc. I haven't had to select any newly promoted players in The Metro.

Re: METRO 2011/12 FANTASY FOOTBALL - LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
I think the budgets pretty generous. I've just a go at picking a team and went for (just about) what I'd pick if there were no budget and had about 2m left over
My main priority in this game is to make sure I have eleven players starting every week so I'm ruling out the likes of RVP anyway.

Selected two teams in the normal manner and then pressed A for autoselect to see if the Metro computer could do better. This is the Autoselect team
Kirkland, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Bridge, Borrowdale, Fabgas, Sdavis, Malouda*, Clarke, Balenta subs Guzan, Joao Silva, McAuley, B Riise plus 15.9m surplus
Thinking of naming it The Who.

Not played this competition before and in a superleague with others who have. Usually do the Telegraph game, so any hints/tips appreciated.
Gone 4-4-2, seen as though defenders and midfielders score more for goals.

They could at least give the random selectors a fighting chance and use the whole budget.Barcode wrote:plus 15.9m surplus.
Well, I would question the wisdom of having one of the most expensive forwards in the game sat on the bench, especially when you have a cheap and fairly terrible midfieldaxel wrote:Not played this competition before and in a superleague with others who have. Having just done the transfers in the other games this one is officially the easiest to upkeep.Though not so easy to gain an edge in.The OFL supersubs are quite easy also.

Not sure if I am being a bit thick but I would have thought the maximum appearance points were 264 (15+9) x 11. Noticed some teams on the leaderboard have more than this ?

Re: METRO 2011/12 FANTASY FOOTBALL - LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
Some of the top teams seem to be playing 433 with a top heavy stirkefore (Dzeko/Aguero/Rooney) and Silva/Nasri/A Young in Midfield but have a very weak bench.
Has worked so far for them but from past experience this policy came unstuck for me before Xmas last year when injuries and rotation crept in.
I know we have Auto Subs this year, but some of these Auto Subs will score low points or even Nil points.
Anyone have any thoughts?

There will be massive "convergance" this week as everyone goes uts and city heavy and moving up and down if they get good scoring weeks will be very difficult. I've gambled on Cahill and Osman in one team with plenty of 'M'Chesta cover.

Anyone still playing this game.
My lowest scoring week of the Season has seen my team move into the Top 750.
Strange game.

Not doing too well this season so far, taking punts on the wrong teams e.g. Wolves

RVP as Captain saved my last game week.
Concerns exist around Manchester squad rotation (Both Man U and Man C)

Re: METRO 2011/12 FANTASY FOOTBALL - LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
Well, that was annoying. I'd spent the last few weeks bringing in Everton players ready for the double game week then just when it's too late to do anything about it Jagielka and Osman get injured and Cahill's left on the bench for the first one
Very quiet in here

Art
Finished just outside top 100 last year.
Am around 1200th this year, despite my average weekly score being around 30 pts higher than last year.
Auto subs have made it less challenging. Did not Captain RVP at the right time. Had players as Captains who made 10 min cameo apperances. (Silva) The list could go on.
Had 6 players for one of my two teams last night in the double game week, 2 of them were
Jagielka and Osman. says it all really.
Steve Legg has been leading for some time. He must be doing some right.

Hi all,
I have 3 teams in this, all with varying fortunes! One is sat nicely in the top 10 while another one is way down at 5,000!
Had a tough DGW, took the risk on Drenthe which backfired spectacularly! Along with Osman getting injured too. Awful.
Hopefully can get back on track this week, good luck to all!
PS Agree that Autosubs have made it less challenging this year.

Re: METRO 2011/12 FANTASY FOOTBALL - LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
Well, I'm slowly crawling my way towards the top 100 but it's so hard to make progress. With the game week business the only tactical transfers you can do is for the double games, they only come along once every three months, and even then it's so hard to find players who you can guarentee will play both matches.
A kind of annoying season generally but I'm finding this game particularly frustrating

Enjoyed this game much more last season because there were loads of tactical opportunities because of the snow etc.
Duty transfers been done for most of the season and the one I ignore if busy
Compliments to the organisers (gfm?) for running a much tighter ship this year with clear comms on game weeks, fixtures and extra transfers.
