New job, need a tie... ;-)
I really don't like wearing a tie, but I'm starting a new job on Monday and feel I should wear one. Any suggestions from these?

Blue stripe.
Have you spilt something on the pale yellow spot?
Good luck.

These aren't the ties you're looking for.

I think I had the ones first and third from the left! Were these bought in the mid to late 90s?

Very reminiscent of my (old) selection of ties. I had great pleasure in binning 90% of them a couple of weeks ago
The tie needs to go with the shirt though - what colour shirt????

In my respectful submission - they will be a damn sight better than those above

Absolutely!murf wrote:Have to be silk though. Anything else looks nasty.Beerfuelledman wrote:A couple new ones are £3 apiece in Tesco/Asda
Back in the day that I had to wear a tie I would occasionally treat myself to a Hermes one - gorgeous. My favourite being the koala - yellow on blue. A bit on the expensive side but as I say they were treats.
As an aside does anyone have any good tips for cleaning them? - especially around the knot (my grubby fingers) - dry cleaning just doesn't do a good job. Once read that lighter fuel was a good way of lifting any grease - but never got to trying it.
As for your selection - I would go for the one roughly in the middle - the blue with red/pink.

I reckon early to mid 90s, judging my a couple of the loudish/garish ones on the right.Dennisthemenace wrote:Are all these ties from the 80's?
Navy suit, white shirt, skinny red tie. Always does the bizz IMO
Personally, I always think a skinny tie always looks far smarter/sharper than a wide/fat tie.
