Re: Redundancy
That's shit news. On the plus side, of the posts of this nature on this forum the majority seem to have worked in the end...

Feel for ya Fin. Happened to me 3 months ago.
I was fortunate and was out of work for a fortnight. Am now much happier, working with some good people in a better company than let me go.
It isn't necessarily all doom & gloom.

Channel that negative energy into something postive. One door closes, another opens.

Re: Redundancy
Finland's not a great place to be foreign and unemployed in if you don't speak either Finnish or Swedish, regardless of the fact that in many jobs fluent English is essential regardless of your nationality.
How many years have you been there now? Never fancied making an effort with suomea?
What's your area of IT? Not sure if the ex is still doing Project Management or not, last I heard she was working for one of the massive multi-Nationals up there with fingers in just about every pie going, she just didn't say in what role.
She could be a good contact for you, or then again as she is the ex, a very bad one!

Just out of Nokia with the rest of about 400, so IT market will be flooded start Sept.
Been here now 11 years, young kids, not enough time to learn the language.
Trying to sort my networks out.
My work is Oracle DBA.
Shame lots of good workers gone with experience and the Nokia env is really complicated to learn so lets see how the Indiains get on.
This is no offence to India

Re: Redundancy
A big announcement for Nokia today, with Microsoft buying the mobile phone business and declaring that Finland will remain the hub for the company.
Any chance of going back?
