Electric central heating boilers

Post by Jester » 16 Apr 2008, 19:44

Anyone any experience of these in terms of efficiency, cost of running etc?

I've just paid almost 54p per litre for heating oil, and it's made me start thinking about alternatives!

Not on mains gas before anyone asks and MrsJ is very keen on being as environmentally friendly as possible, hence the electric option (may be able to get a solar panel or even a small wind turbine to pipe into the supply?)

Just wondered if we have any electric converts amongst us who would / wouldn't recommend it?

Not wanting to advocate usage of another forum, but when I had a water leak recently I found this one gave very good advice on heating issues. I couldn't see any topics on Electric boilers but possibly worth asking the question.
