TAUNTON TIMES MINI LEAGUE. 50 Managers.

Post by JHT »

I have set up a mini league using my team ‘John Hunt Taunton 7’ currently in 5th position overall. If anyone would care to join me you’re more than welcome. It would be great if we could attract entries from those that have teams highly/well placed so that we have a chance to mop up some of the prizes left behind by the fiso league

Any winnings will be shared (as shown below) at the end of the season.

1st Prize £15,000 each person will receive: 1st – 5th £2,750 each, 6th – 10th £250 each
2nd Prize £4,000 each person will receive: 1st – 5th £700 each, 6th – 10th £100 each
3rd Prize £2,000 each person will receive: 1st – 5th £350 each, 6th – 10th £50 each

I believe adding prize money from 6th – 10th will give incentive to those not in the top 5/10 of this league, keeping them playing throughout the season, thus increasing the chances of our league finishing as competitively placed (hopefully in the money) as possible.

Deadline for entries is 31st October and you are only allowed by Times rules to enter a maximum of ONE team per person.

League Name – Taunton Times
League Pin - 8001986

For those of you who don't know me, (clearly you need to know that you'll get paid out if you win) I have been a fiso members for ever (although I rarely post) and have been playing (with some success) fantasy football since 1996. Previous successful mini leagues that I've chaired include the various 'BaerHunt' leagues, winning and being placed in many comps, most notably winning the TFF league of mini league a couple of years back. What I'm trying to say is that should this league achieve any winnings, I won’t be running off to Spain with them.
If I was lucky enough to win the Chairman's prize, it would be down to the performance of my team (not the league) so that prize would be mine.

Good luck everyone

John

I am not doing great in the Times comp so far

My positions:
1988th, 15 transfers, 4 loans, 5 captains (may be in a better position after Thursday night)

3174th, 10 transfers, 3 loans, 4 captains
4426th, 13 transfers, 3 loans, 4 captains

Are these positions any good for the MLs or is there a cut off level? I suppose my top team is border line.

You may as well put them all in different leagues - the mini-league score is an average of the top 5 teams so the more the merrier

There are 4 leagues available already - FISO , FISO Part Deux , Taunton Times and Busty Babes

Good luck

good luck john,

if we had all realised that you seem to be allowed to make 10 entries in other peoples names we could have all organised our own minileagues

i really think minileagues and chairman's prizes are a joke and should be just fun prizes with those funds being added to the overall prizemoney pot, but like you will likely have a go at the chairman's prize

just a shame we didn't realise we were allowed to enter more teams under other peoples names eh  :( :x

John

I have taken your invitation and entered one of my teams into your league. Having not really focused on this competition, I am pleasantly surprised to have 2 reasonable teams - one in 86th and one in 142nd overall. I put the first in the FISO league and the second in your league.

Hopefully the various FISO associated leagues can do well.

Cheers

Eoghan

I'm in. :D Currently 9th in this superleague. If I can hold onto that, then I'm in the money for sure.!!

Still, with nearly all transfers remaining and 5 each of loans and captains, I may well get a wee bit further up.

Quite like this Times game. Only did the three teams, of which sadly only two were set up for the start.

Not too bad though -

Clanceysclangers01 = 562 / 814th :) Going to put this in FISO
Clanceysclangers02 = 586 / 377th :D Now in TT
Clanceysclangers003 = 464 / 6547th  (started week late, with 3-5-2 and dodgy picks like Bentley).

With the addition of our friends from Croatia the league of mini leagues is starting to take shape....rather pleasantly we are still holding a healthy advantage...

1 TAUNTON TIMES Mr Hunt 822.80 :D
2 ZAGY Mr Ostojic 800.80
3 FISO Mr Edwards 786.20
4 ZD Mrs Crnov Furlan 767.60
5 FISO PART DEUX Mr Closs 743.40
6 LORD Mr Maroni 738.60

9 PORKIES PREMIERSHIP Mr Riley 710.00
10 AMSTERDAM AMSTROS Mr Geertsma 709.80
11 BUSTY BABES Mr Baer 705.00

To quote the t&c's from the Times site
The closing date for creation of and entry to a Mini League is 31st October 2008.
I assume this means midnight tomorrow, however I'd suggest to be on the safe side it would be prudent to enter Taunton Times today...don't forget it's one entry per person..
