Quick tennis quiz

Post by murf »

Laura Robson has just got through to a WTA tennis final :D

She is the first Brit in ages to do it but....

1) Who was the last (bonus points for year)?

and for double points.....

2) Who was the last British woman to actually win one (bonus for year again)?

(No cheating and don't spoil it for everyone if you have read the answers this week in any article on Laura's run like what I did!)

Virginia Wade 1979

Jo Durrie 1984

Nope to all 4 (I'm sure you were afraid of getting the last one wrong).

Its actually not as long ago as you guessed.

I'd never heard of her either. It was very unbritish of her to win a tournament although she makes up for that by setting a record when losing at the US Open to someone who had only just turned 14.

World Number 46
So Robson has a way to go yet before she can be considered one of the British greats.
