Re: VELOGAMES - Giro D'Italia 2019 Now Open
Good ride by Yates on Day 1. The fact it started on a time trial made me get Dumoulin over him. Also bought Roglic so I was hoping to get off on a flier.
Not sure what they were on about with that little hill. Just 200m of ascent in 8km? Pah! I did that on my parkRun in the morning in just 5km - without the aid of a bike.

Early days but I currently find myself 16th out of the 18000-odd taking part. Thanks mainly due to Viviani and his swerve.

Thanks. Will be tough for me though - currently last in the FISO league and with Dumoulin hobbling [EDIT - now out ] and Viviani being conspired against by the judges my back is truly against the wall.Laudrup86 wrote:Early days but fingers crossed for a FISO winner!

Dumoulin retiring due to the crash has ruined my teams chances, which is a shame as it looks like I'd picked a pretty decent team

I thought I'd picked a good team, with Dumoulin, too. The points say otherwise though, although I have crept up the FISO league from 23rd/last to 22nd and now 21st.
Time trial tomorrow could shake things up (or would have done if my Dumoulin was there to win it....)

Re: VELOGAMES - Giro D'Italia 2019 Now Open
Time for a rest day in the Giro and an update after a rather strange first week of the Giro. A week with no real mountain stages, two ITTs and a stage where the GC was turned upside down as a result of a non chase down of the break. Bad weather to boot and one of the favourites going by the wayside. We also have Roglic in imperious form. Well so far anyway. Things can change. Anyway a disappointing day yesterday for Simon Yates who didn't look himself on the climb in the ITT and obviously suffered. Lets hope he can recover across the week to come which again doesn't hit the mountains until Friday with two more chances for the sprinters coming up. Our leader Patrick has three sprinters performing and has helped his squad take a nice lead - 15th overall. End of first week update Patrick leads from "peoples" and The Pom.

Re: VELOGAMES - Giro D'Italia 2019 Now Open
Looking at the various teams whilst Patrick has a very healthy lead when we get to the mountains I expect Terry's team in particular to start to move up the League. He is stacked with climbers (with no Dumoulin) and went for a cheap sprinter option. Will the gap be too big to pull back. The race doesn't hit the mountain until Friday so GC points will be few for the next three stages.

Upset I missed this. Can't get to check the Fiso listings so thanks for posting the league updates.
My prediction is Peoples to show us the way again.

Roglic may be physically ok, but his head will be cooked after that near (very bad) crash...

Re: VELOGAMES - Giro D'Italia 2019 Now Open
End of the second week and a 2nd rest day and time to take stock again.
The Giro is taking a distinctly firm direction towards Carapaz and Yates judging on the last two mountain stages and Roglic with his weak team is starting to creak. In terms of the League Patrick is manfully staying ahead but it’s Terry that’s making the biggest inroads up the table with a very strong climbers team. Ian in third place is also poised with a strong squad.
