Anyway, if the Giro has been barred from entering France for the Izoard, surely the same will apply to the Vuelta re. Tourmalet? Unless there’s a purely Spanish side climb?

Other way around today and, boy oh boy, does it show. Miller is knowledgeable and clinical in his dissection of who is doing what - and why. Ned Boulting is a good foil for him.
Rob Hatch just gets more excited ‘because it’s the Giro’. There’s too much, ‘they’ll be dancing in the streets of...’, type of tone in lieu of insight
No one is as bad as Carlton Kirby though

Wimps using the zigzag.

On Countryfile last week they were talking about the zigzag on Box Hill trying to make out it was tough for cyclists! Us local mountain bikers ignored it and just went straight up the side. (I actually watched a stage of the Tour Of Britain (or whatever it was called back then) from that zigzag about 20 years ago - I just remember being amazed how fast they went up it at - like I said, zigzags make it easy

Could probably go up that gully to the left if the snow is packed enough.....

Gorgeous autumnal colours at the start of the climb.... and the rapids to the side.

Denz has just popped. What on earth can it be like finishing a stage like this for a rider has had burnt all his matches do early?

Awesome stage, and there will surely be a case for an Autumn GT as the scenery looks sumptuous with Autumn colours contrasting with the white....

Was it on Stelvio that TdG went really long a few years ago?

Superb day of racing. Hinckley had ice in his veins, popping round the side with 50m to go
Anyone know how much stronger TGH’s time trial is as compared to the Sunweb pair?

Then Dan Martin over in Spain. Great ride taking it to Jumbo

Tao’s TT is pretty similar. He lost time to both on Stage 1 but on Stage 14 he took a minute out of Hindley. Given that the TT on Sunday is pancake flat and only 16 kilometres I wouldnt anticipate much time gaps on Sunday. It’s all about tomorrow.

If they all cross the line together tomorrow then they don't need that big a time gap on the TT. Comments on TV yesterday suggested Tao is the best of the 3 at a TT. Only Kelderman maybe expected to be up there so the other 2's times on Stage 1 may not be fully representative.

Teo can win this one way or another....

Of course he can win it. Most definitely but I’m hoping he can do the business tomorrow rather than have to do it on a flat short non technical TT in Madrid.

Any time bonuses on the line today?

10s could be huge.

Without giving anything away the Break will win today so forget time bonuses for the GC.

They should all get 10s penalties for being such wimps today.

I think I meant time bonuses on Saturday's mountain stage which the top 3 could get (some of).

Tomorrow’s Vuelta Stage 6 to the top of the Col du Tourmalet stays in Spain. Doesn’t cross the border into France. Shortened stage.

I hope they give Rohan Dennis a big bonus this year, no matter what happens today.

Tao probably favourite, but at the end of a tough 3 week tour with the outcome of the whole race all coming down to a 15k all out effort with no thought to tomorrow, to be honest anything could happen.

Dennis rides on the Stelvio and yesterday at Sestriere were two of the best Dom performances I have seen since his fellow countryman Richie Porte was pulling for Chris Froome.

Would love to think the form Dennis is in will win him the TT stage today but surely it is a 4th stage for Ganna (I've picked him in the Superbru game anyway)

Yes think we all have. You’d be daft not to as he is a machine on the TT bike.
