What a brave call by Andy Reid... the backup held his nerve.

Still think if Mahomes can’t play next weekend it’s going to be a non-contest though.

Allen and Co. are a tough crowd.

Exactly, KC are going to have to win a shootout and they can’t do that with Henne starting.

And settle the Belichick vs Brady debate forever? No sign of his former coach walking away from Foxborough, so still seemingly keen to prove he can succeed without his long-time on-field general, but the odds have to be against it with no obvious QB solution on the cards for them. Then again, he did once go 11-5 with Matt Cassel under center, so maybe this season was just a blip?

I'd like to see that, then at least I could feel that we lost to the eventual winners.

The Bills could get to Tampa if Mahomes is fooked, so it might be down to Buck and snow is expected 👏👏👏👏

I'd definitely make the effort to watch a Brady/Buck shootout. Could be a classic.

It’s the Bucc-Rodgers matchup, as well as the Battle of the Bays (apparently they called it the “Bay of Pigs” matchup when both were crap and played in the same division in the 80s).

Anyway, quite remarkable that Andy Reid’s Chiefs are the second team in history to host three straight Championship Games, after... Andy Reid’s Eagles in the early ‘00s. (That was just before I started following it closely, but they lost two of them, and were beaten in the Super Bowl in the third, so seemingly one of the great ‘nearly’ teams, QB’d by one of the great ‘nearly men’ in Donovan McNabb, as seems the consensus among HOF judges - Reid himself only managed to shake off that tag last year).

By the weekend I could be pissed off about losing and fooling up the last drive, but I'm still managing to take the positives and Stef's post match comments are good ie sharing the blame....

First QB domino falls then... the Colts probably won’t find their franchise QB at #21 in the draft with a number of desperate teams well above them, so it’s a case of trade or free agent, or re-sign Brissett for a year to hold the fort? They’re seemingly in a good cap position so unlikely to clear the decks and tank, and they must have known this was more than a 50-50 chance in any case.

The debate on Rivers’ legacy will be an interesting one. Fifth all-time in passing yards, but a limited post-season CV and probably never been in the MVP/All-Pro mix. His draft contemporaries Big Ben and Eli have two rings each. In a golden age of QBs does that make him a Hall of Famer? Being in the same eligibility class as Brees might rule out first-ballot at least...

Just playing for a long time, yes, though weight of numbers does tend to get players in. Highest eligible QB in the yardage list not to be inducted is journeyman Vinny Testaverde at 15th - admittedly, only five of those above him are retired long enough to be eligible. Objectively he’s probably “Hall of Very Good”. Similar argument applies to say Frank Gore among RBs, though silverware is less of an issue for non-QBs.

Peyton, Brady (if he ever retires), Brees and Rodgers are guaranteed first-balloters, all the others of this generation will still provoke debate. They could block each other or equally, provide a precedent for each other...

Yes to the Hall of (very) Good. Has he ever been a great watch ie Favre, Buck et al or a prolific winner ie Tom?

Well yeah, it’s the question of does he have an outstanding credential other than longevity and durability, and the answer is probably not. If he had one Super Bowl he’d be in, on pure regular season performance he’s been better than Eli and probably on a par with Big Ben, but they have two each...

I think if they induct Rivers they’re setting a precedent for Ryan, Stafford and other “good but not great” QBs who may well end their careers in the top 10 in terms of yardage (and the former does have a league MVP, and a Super Bowl ring that slipped through his fingers!)
