2017 SBru Lions Tour Fantasy Cup - Winner: Simon
Hi All
Another SuperBru comp is starting soon.
For all those FISO Egg chaser enthusiasts (of which I am one) ... this is a straightforward Tour (10 games within a 5 week period - bloody madness given the physicality involved) ... against the some of the top provincial teams from the Southern Hemisphere (currently Crusaders, Hurricanes, Chiefs are leading the Super Rugby) which are carefully scheduled to soften up the Lions before the Test matches. Should be fun. Feel free to join.
All FISO bods (lads n lassies) are welcome to join. Either accept an invite you should have already received, or just sign up (to SuperBru and apply to join:
Pool name: FISO Lions Tour Fantasy Cup.
Pool code: fairsoot

Re: 2017 SBru Lions Tour Fantasy Cup
Cheers Mick
Will put a team in today.
Have to say bit disappointed there isn't a Lions Tour Fantasy League done by the Telegraph this time. Seem to recall how good it was 4 years ago.

Re: 2017 SBru Lions Tour Fantasy Cup
What am I missing.....with unlimited squad changes between games isn't this just a competition to see who picks the right captain? Or is that just tomorrow. As the games get harder there'll be more value in picking opposition players right? Surely everyone is playing 14 or 15 lions tomorrow and just hoping they've guessed the captain right?
Surely If there were limited transfers between games, you'd have to pick more circumspectly with eyes on future games. This is guaranteed that everyone has 15 starters every game. And with Lions teams announced beforehand, we're all taking the same guys every game. I'd like to have picked North etc now, stashing for future games and risking minimal starters some games. More skill involved that way, no?
Am I wrong, or like I say, what have I missed?

Succinctly put, SB. I'd pretty much agree with you. Its all about picking the right Captain or Kicker (in round 1). It may become more important in the following rounds when we start choosing key players from the Opponents team ... I'll be interested to see who picked key Blues players today when the scoring is updated ...Sport Billy wrote:What am I missing.....with unlimited squad changes between games isn't this just a competition to see who picks the right captain? 2017 SBru Lions Tour Fantasy Cup - round 2 to Trampie
Scores from Round 2 were indeed remarkably similar due to the same players being chosen by most.
Net result was dependant heavily on those who chose Halfpenny as a Kicker versus Biggar (and those who chose Reiko as a Captain versus CJ) with the following resultant table:
Expect a bigger difference in selection of starting 15 as the competition rolls on ...
I've already suggested to SuperBru that the game would be more challenging if Transfers were limited to say, 8-10 per round.
Maybe they will consider that in future games, but too late for this one ....

2017 SBru Lions Tour Fantasy Cup - Winner: Simon
I've been disappointing in posting results (for posterity) this year. SuperBru has been surpassing me I'm happy to say.
Our Champion was SiBrown or Simon and as will be seen from the table below
(once I post it, here)
he never looked like losing his lead once he gained it ... so hearty CONGRATULATIONS!!
The Trophy will appear here (eventually)
