Seems like Telegraph have changed the way they give MOTM then...lfc_steve wrote:Martins also scored twice this weekendamaidment wrote:So is this the first time a player has scored 2 goals and not been given MOTM (i.e. Berbatov)??tonyp wrote:Very well. Since you are so impatient....

I think it's consistency we want..... Berby was quality, but over 90 mins Huddlestone stood out yesterday.dilwar wrote:Another load of dubious decisions...
Huddlestone over Berbatov!
Rooney over Ronaldo!
Kyut over Gerrard!!
I am sure they do it just to p*&# us all off!
Anyway, thanks for bringing us the bad news early tonyp!
Maybe it's time for the writers to actually report on the games they're watching and not just give MOTM to the csorers/ big name players.

God knows what I meant (except in Berbatov and Martins' case 8 points per goal would give them 16 points). My point basically was that if you want to value goal scoring more highly in tff, then simply award more points to a goal (whether it is 6, 8 or whatever).
As far as any man of the match rating goes (not that anyone except for us tff players actually cares), I think that a reporter shouldn't automatically rate someone as man of the match simply because they scored the most goals; Sometimes there will have been a better/more influential player on the pitch. Sometimes a player can be truly rubbish over the course of a game and still score a couple of goals.

I believe Bram's interpretation of this one hinges on e-mails seen from the Telegraph where they have stated that they have never given a KC for a tackle where the ball then goes to a player who shoots straightaway and scores. Personally, I wouldn't be suprised to see it given - in my view Lennon's touch was more of a directed interception than a tackle as such - but at the same time I can completely see why Bram has called it the way he has too. Will be an interesting test case I think.Neva wrote:The pass wasn't that important, it didn't split the defence or play Defoe into a good position, it was a great finish to score from there.derbynige wrote:surely lennon wil get kc for defoe goal?
The Rooney one is interesting, I first thought definite KC but then I saw it was two deflections not just one and I changed my mind and now Bram thinks it might be so I haven’t got a clue. No doubt if he gets it there'll be cries of Rooney bias

I didn't think Ronaldo was that great and would have gone for Ferdinand, Vidic or Scholes as the players did the most in a solid team performance.axel wrote:If this isn't a perfect example of why people need Rooney in there teams I don't know what is. Dodgiest decision so far.
Merry Christmas.
That said, Rooney was the catalyst. In the first half he was very lively and seemed to make things happen and also had a hand in all of the goals.
It depends by which criteria you use, but he was at least as influential as anyone.
PS - I'm a toffee who despises Rooney and refuses to have him in his team.
PPS - Surprised I haven't heard many Man City fans complaining about Poll. His double standards yesterday were atrocious. Shouldn't be allowed to referee at the big grounds.
