Murf and the Tele suggest Kuyt was worth MotM, albeit marginally. From my infrequent visits to matches these days, I'm not surprised that only 3% of the "red jury" could see this. I'm totally amazed at the comments of some of those around me during and after games. Its as though they are at a different match from the one that I'm attending.

FYI the voting from the red jury.....
Carragher 897
Gerrard 847
Agger 631
Pennant 314
Alonso 182
Garcia 155
Kuyt 121
Finnan 100
Yes Agree Kuyt and gerrard we're the obvious two, shows how suspect the LFC website poll is - sentimentality is the only reason anyone would give it to Carragher - firsty goal in 7 years or not!

2 centre backs in the top 3! Entirely for their attacking contribution I'd guess as if they had hung back they would only have needed to get out of their armchairs about 3 times.
Gerrard and Alonso bossed central midfield and most attackers played well. Kuyt was the busy and the main threat although suprisingly had no contribution to the goals apart from winning the initial pen (the dam breaker)

Must say that I'm surprised that deflected crosses from Ronaldo and Heinze have both been awarded KCs but the deflected cross from Rooney has not. Perhaps TFF were trying to even things up again after the debatable man of the match award!!Judio wrote: Man United 3-1 Man City[/b]

On Rooney's cross there was not one but TWO deflections, the second of which slowed the ball down for Ronaldo
On Ronaldo's cross there was not even clear evidence that the defender even touched it
Three good decisions (and I have Rooney )

I'm assuming the Essien one is a mistake? Lampard clearly passed the ball directly to him, no one else touched it.
Basically Essien did too much for a KC to be awarded and Lampard's pass did not do enough to justify a KC. i.e. it did not split a defence or take any defenders out. It was just a pass rolled into the path of a team mate 30 yards out.
I believe in other games Lampard may have been given points for an "assist" but KCs in TFF work slightly differently.
Hope this explanation helps a bit.

I am missing something here, all these decisions seem straightforward
Lampards contribution was anything but key, couple of touches, didn't beat a man, 5 yard backward lay-off. Imagine it was a dead-ball and he touched it to Essien.....no KC
Ronaldo's cross into the area wasn't touched by anyone but Ronney
Heinze's cross into the 6-yard box had one deflection but it didn't alter the height or direction, i.e. the result would have been the same
Rooney's cross had 2 deflections, if it was only the 1st then it would be a KC, same as Heinze, but the 2nd deflection couldn't have happened without the 1st and it also altered the low cross, i.e. it made it pop-up in the air for Ronaldo to bang in
Rooney MOTM, fair enough, every MOTM is debatable but they are chosen impartially by sports journalists, which is a bit more trustworthy than a
ad-hoc fiso poll
It all balances out over a season anyway.........

YES, and that is why we follow football as we do.
Discussion and arguments about the games are half the fun
Otherwise there would be no place for a forum like this one !!

-5 for the miss yes. It's in the rules! Then + 5 for scoring +2 for playing and +3 for assisting the 2nd goal.fazza_1973 wrote:Can anyone confirm did Gerard get -5 for missing the penalty please?

Re: Mom Rooney and KC
Are you kidding - Rooney was good, but not MOM, Ronaldo was superb. Thought Vidic and Ferdinand have more call on MOM than Rooney.scarletjim wrote:Arabian Knight wrote:svwhat wrote:Thought Rooney was MoM by a mile and thought he had 2 KC's - Will he get one for pressing to get ball off City defender and getting it to Heinze for the cross when saha scored?
Nope was not kidding : A little annoyed no Kc's though

Liverpool (0) 4 Fulham (0) 0
Goals: Gerrard, Carragher, Garcia, Gonzalez
Key Contributions (KCs): Gerrard, Agger x 2
Booked: Pennant, Pearce
Man-of-the-Match (MOTM): Kuyt
Just got the above details through on email from the Telegraph.....does this mean that Gerard doesnt lose pts for the penalty miss?
Confused!!!
