Current team:

GK: Donnarumma ITA 2.8
---
DEF: Van Aanholt NED 3.4
DEF: Dumfries NED 3.5
DEF: Di Lorenzo ITA 3.6
DEF: Bonnucci ITA 3.8
DEF: Spinazzola ITA 3.6

---
MID: Wijnaldum NED 4.6
MID: Locatelli ITA 4.7
MID: De Bruyne BEL 5.7
---
FWD: Ronaldo POR 6.5
FWD: Lukaku BEL 6.3

Planning to change the two Netherlands defenders for French ones, and Ronaldo to Benzema - fairly confident on these 3 moves.
For the last two, am thinking to change Wijnaldum to Forsberg, and then possibly Lukaku to Mbappe/Grizemann - but would that be unecessarily risky? Better just to save the transfer and hold on to Lukaku?
Given that your main aim is holding a big lead in the mini league I would keep Lukaku. The biggest fear is if anyone has gone big on Spain or Croatia, I can't see anyone anyone catching you by out-Frenching you.

So, after last night's game, my lead has been cut down to 38 points. Have 18 transfers left overall, with 2 remaining in this round.
I've got Pavard Kimpembe and Benzema from France, plus Wijnaldum from Netherlands all to be swapped out.
Am still thinking Wijnaldum to Forsberg for tonight's Sweden vs Ukraine.

Does anyone know the status on De Bruyne? Won't be fit for the Italy game?

Am now considering the 1st QF of Spain vs Switzerland. Time to finally leave 5-3-2 and change to 4-4-2? Azpilicueta for one of the french defenders, Sarabia for another, and Morata for Benzema?

I wouldn't use either of your 2 transfers to set up for the 1st QF.
Use them to gamble on todays games. I don't think Forsberg & Yamolenko/Yaremchuck is a bad idea.
It reduces a lot of budget pressure if & when you want to go 433.

You will have 6 or 7 in the top half 1 or 2 in the bottom half & 3 dead.
3 transfers then (of your max 10) for the 1st QF when you get team news, and your team is well set up.

Oh & absolutely yes to Sarabia, assuming he starts, he looks by far the best attacking Spanish option. But wait until team news, if you can outguess Enrique's team selection, you are a lot better at this malarkey than me.

After yesterday's games, I have maintained my 38 point lead in my mini-league. 13 transfers left.
Current team:

GK: Donnarumma ITA 2.8
---
DEF: Spinazzola ITA 3.6
DEF: Di Lorenzo ITA 3.6
DEF: Bonnucci ITA 3.8
DEF: Azpilicueta SPA 4.3
---
MID: Locatelli ITA 4.7
MID: De Bruyne BEL 5.7
MID: Sarabia SPA 4.5
---
FWD: Lukaku BEL 6.3
FWD: Yarmolenko UKR 4.7
FWD: Morata SPA 5.6

Spinazzola is injured, Locatelli is not getting played, and De Bruyne and Lukaku are out. The rest are in semi-final 1. Should I go with just a couple of Denmark players for the first game? (Maehle, and then 1 midfielder?), and then if they go through, just another couple of England players (Sterling and Kane?), and if they don't go through then replace the Danes with more English?
Am concerned about a potential English clean sheet that I would have no exposure to, and that chasing pack might capitalise on.

For me you have 2 options both involve 4 Transfers for the 3rd QF & 2 Transfers for the 4th QF.

1) go 5-3-2 bring in Holes(CZE) & Maehle (DEN) at the back for Spinazzola & Lukaku.
Drop Locatelli & KDB bring in Soucek(CZE) & Poulsen(if he starts) or Hojbjerg.
2) option 2 is very similar but keeping 433 or even 343 & picking either Schick or a Swedish option up front.

Then drop the 2 losers for Englishmen.
What should decide this for you is partly your view on which English players you want.
Option 1 keeps your options as either Sterling & Defender or Sterling & Kane.
Option 2 means you might not be able to pick Kane(if your striker gets through), but you might be able to pick 2 Defenders.

Thanks Cap, you're probably right that hedging my bets is the way to go whilst I have the lead. If Yarmolenko can get one in then I'll be laughing.

... yeah, only had enough to get 10 Danish players in one team. You can guess which one I haven't got. Image

Number of CSs

Last 16 - 4 (16 chances)
QF - 1 (8)
SF - 0 (4)

The last 2 of the 4 being England.

No wonder my block hopping tactics have failed!

CS figures

Post by SamD »

Frequency of clean sheets is similar to average in Premier League.

Re Euro figures above, it was four across last 16, giving total of five in 14 KO games to date (28 teams).
There were 22 CSs in 36 group matches (72 teams).
Total is 27 in 100 = 27%.

There were 635 CSs over last three PL seasons, so average is 635/(380x2x3) = 27.85%.

Similar to PL overall but a big change as the games progressed.

31% in group stages
18% in knockouts (and reducing round by round 31-25-12-0)

Anyone manage to come up with a mixed England/Italy 11 that doesn't have a 5-3-2 formation?

After the dodgy updating last night, note the final scores still aren't correctly done with some of the extra time stuff missing (eg Sancho point)
