TFF World Cup 2014

Something to keep everyone busy while waiting for this afternoons final fixtures. :D

Pricing of players looks much tougher than in previous Euro/WC games.

Transfers between matches again!! I forgot they did this last time. My level of interest drops from "fairly disinterested" to "not at all interested and considering offering up any free teams I have to someone"

yeah, and transfers between games for 11pm kick offs (all 40 of 'em) - don't they know some of us are old and are in bed with cocoa by then!

Yaya Toure underpriced, 0.1 less than Gerrard

They're usually won by the multi team, permutation brigade so if the lower prizes puts them off then that's got to be a good thing in my book.

I'm not too fussed that I won't be winning £10K rather than not winning £20K.

Was going to have the summer off but I am currently winning 4 credits from Super 16s and the two I bothered checking are mathematically certain of winning :(

40 transfers seems alot, not sure what the best strategy would be

A block def for a top nation would limit ypur attacking options substantially, some of those average mods seem pricey too

Yep difficult to think of a strategy at the moment especially with transfers between matches, a couple of fixture timings I've noticed.
Brazil and Mexico play twice before South Korea and Russia play there first game.
Portugal play in the early kick off (1st game against Germany on the 16th) then Last kick off on the 22nd with a huge 19 other matches in between and 7 other teams playing twice, worth giving Ronaldo a miss till the 11pm on the 22nd?

Very tricky to pick a decent starting XI. Still, need to wait until all squads are properly announced. Likely to have 6 free credits on this so will give it a go!

got 6 right now, saved 5 from the TFF premier pack plus 1 from the super 16s and maybe 1 or 2 from the champions league

but at a quick glance looks very hard to pick a strong team, disappointed with the pricing on Belgium :x there goes my block defence plan

The pricing seems very high. Looking at 4 enablers to total £12m and then 7 players from strong nations. Problem is looking at the £3m and below players, will they actually play? :?

It seems that quite a few people agree with you. But I think that it's a decent prize for what is in effect a one month game. I'd say that it's at least on a par with the season long £40,000 prize. As far as I'm concerned it's the prize money compared to time required that matters.

Several posters will no doubt complain about the £3/team entry fee but that's silly IMO because (i) the entry fee makes nearly every day of the World Cup more interesting, and (ii) as far as 95% of entrants are concerned there isn't a solid affordability issue. Who can't afford one pint occasionally? A fantasy entry gives more value than a single pint.

Let's face it £3 is half of bu*ger all, at a time when the average British guy on a stag do spends around £180 on alcohol alone.

Pricing is certainly high, but that's a good thing surely when it makes planning a team more challenging. Who wants a comp where most teams contain perhaps 7 or 8 of the most popular 12 players.

In that case there will probably be a few managers who set up a new team for the first kick off of a day, and who then use 22 transfers later the same day. Not for me, and IMO represents a poor aspect of fantasy, reeking of desperation for a win, rather than solid management. Still one man's meat ........... Each to his own etc.

I'll probably burn my free teams that way as I don't know enough about the Belgian defence (etc) and will be AWOL for some of the tournament to be able to have a good go at the proper game.

Definitely sounds like a good idea. Got 11 credits to burn. Not sure I can think of that many tournament long teams!

Going to try and win some money for a change 8-)

Will use up my Super 16 win credits but won't be paying for any entries. Might consider a couple of entries for the daily with them.

Found that elusive cheap enabler :!: but now have a team which the site wont let me remove him from

Edit: a day later and he's come back I suppose they weren't allowing for people like me picking players that are not going to the world cup :!:

Yeh noticed that. Hopefully loads of people would have used their transfers by then which will enable those who keep a few back to climb the league.

Eurgh, in-game budget changes. Do I not like that. A worrying precedent for season-long games? "It's 1st January, have an extra £10m so you can choose a team entirely of stars."
