Ghana lose anyhow - Geoffv starts the final with a half point advantage

Two tweaks for the final. 2 picks (inc 3rd place) still needed but the joker must be on the final. Second tweak will be a tiebreaker (I'll dig one out from previous years)

Tie-breaker 1 (just in case of a draw) - Add Minute of first goal of final - closest wins using minutes declared by BBC
Tie-breaker 2 (just in case of a draw and identical minutes out for final) - Add Minute of first goal of 3rd place
Tie-breaker 3 - nah, no drawing of lots, an honourable draw is declared

Win in 90 minutes = 5
Win in extra time = 4
Win on penalties = 3
Defeat on penalties = 1
Defeat in extra time = 0.5
Defeat in 90 = 0

Geoffv has a half point head start so any 'copying' of his picks and you can't beat him. Time for tactics......

Tactically I expected everyone to be on Egypt so was surprised that the 3rd place match was the decider

Think I thought the same as you. Egypt were marginal favourites but I had a sneaky feeling re Cameroon and had to go tactical.

I've been in Egypt for the whole competition. They traditionally do well at this tournament but liked how Cameroon played in the semi. No tatical blocking involved.

Sorry, not going to be running this comp this time.

Mainly because the timing (summer generally and specific dates) doesn't really work for me to be actively managing it. Also the expanded tournament would alter the dynamic and maybe require more entrants when we would likely get less due to the summer timing and the general decline in FISO entrants for comps like this.

Didn't realise it would be 5 years since this was last run but we will be back for AFCON 21 in 22.

I'll have to look up how the expanded format (24 teams not 16) could affect it but it will run again in some form - probably very similar but possibly with new/revised rules so we don't all drop out too soon, maybe even zombie reanimations to keep numbers up

This and the Egg Chasing will make the post Xmas / New Year winter months fly by!
