And now, the end is near... for this season at least!

Of course, the future of FISODAS is as uncertain as that of Brexit... if anyone wants to take no-deal off the table and offer to run it next season, please let me know! The next season isn't scheduled to start until September, but the sooner we know, the better we can organise an orderly transition period, and make sure the backstop is in place. Let me know if you need any more information.

If anyone else definitely doesn't want to take part next season (if there is one), please also let me know, then I can make sure we get play-offs that are potentially meaningful. Anyone I don't hear from (other than those who have missed three or more weeks) I will assuming is voting Remain

Anyway, I'll say it again at the conclusion of proceedings, but thanks all for playing this season, and over the past seven seasons. Hopefully FISODAS will go on!

No doubt, I will be playing against the formidable randoms again this week. I thoroughly enjoy playing this game but this season has been a bit of a farce with so many no shows in the conference. (The whole division has negative goal difference!!!)
If not enough players are not serious about committing to the game, perhaps the game needs to be reduced in terms of the number of players. Maybe even scrap the conference. As it stands, we only have 7 committed players in the conference and with other another no show (Digsby) elsewhere, this means we will have 6 players if the game continues.
Maybe we could have a league of six and play each other twice (just need 10 weeks instead of 9 which could mean no play-off between league 2 and conference). I am not sure this is the right place for this suggestion so apologies if I have this wrong.
If the conference is scrapped, I would begrudgingly make way and join the waiting list. Thank you FF for running this and I hope someone picks it up moving forwards. Unfortunately, I do not have enough spare time to volunteer myself.

This isn’t a first occurrence, by necessity the lowest division will generally have at least a couple of new players in it. Some seasons the new players take to it and stick around, but other times they just don’t for whatever reason, so we end up with these no-show heavy seasons in the Conference. But we don’t know in advance how the newcomers will behave, it’s not really possible to predict, but they will always tend to have a higher drop-out rate than long serving players.

I have always said if there aren’t at least 6 players in the lowest division at the start of the season it will be wound up, but otherwise any spaces will be filled with random teams open for takeover. Having a different sized division would be a real bigger in terms of the spreadsheet, not to mention cups etc!

I think if the Conference was dropped we would lose some committed players, perhaps permanently, and the new recruit problem would just relocate to League Two in time. Obviously in the case of long term declining numbers it would happen eventually but during my time in charge we’ve always managed to somehow replenish the numbers each season! Someone else taking over might have a different view though, or be willing to administer lopsided divisions...

As noted above, it's a shame the Conference has been a bit chaotic this season, but I can't blame The Randoms for my goal difference as they were one of the teams that I beat this season.

Personally I'd rather play a mixture of real teams and randoms than not play at all if numbers are short, so I'm hoping that somebody will be able to take this game on and we'll all be back again next season.
